Husband has worked in a school for 10+ years. Why would anyone want to extend the school year when you can just do an MS Teams meeting or Zoom??

Edit: Valid points in comments. I was just so focused on how much I love summer that I assumed all kids wanted a longer summer & not a random, fun day off in the snow ?

Dog tax! Charles Barkley sniffing a "yard bouquet".

At least in my neck of the woods, there was always turn around time at the start of online school to allow for loans of chromebooks or such for kids who don't have the necessary tech.

A lot of schools saw a technology divide in their students with many not able to effectively participate in remote schooling, lacking a computer or laptop. (Phones and tablets being the way they get online.) Some don't even have home internet service. It was one of the reasons schools opened as early as they did.

because of the mental health benefit of going out to play in the snow.

If the kids can't make it to school for weather, school should not come to their house.

Disruptions affect teachers (who frequently have snowed-in kids to tend at home), and online teaching takes massive prep to do well.

Probably for the same reasons that they re-opened the schools versus making everything online- it’s more effective in person??

HAHAHA!!! No! I swear I'm not a buzzkill. When I was in school, snow days were awesome, but I preferred the time off in summer.

Some of us preferred the snow to the relentless heat
