Remember, kids, every corpse on Mt. Everest was extremely motivated too!

Wow...now watch the video with your eyes closed and answer the question "Am I actually watching gay German reality pornography?"

All of those people are there because they paid good money to be there for what for them is leisure time.

The north face should use this as advertisement for their tents

me: "Welp, this is it." :( Unfortunately, that's not a place where people wear avalanche gear, either.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To think most of those people's last words were "fuck"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's brutal... 22 dead. I wonder how many camps were hit? There's a few on that rock. We're they below 8000 meters? Could they bring help?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking terrifying

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To the bleak midwinter.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HEY DICKHEAD, GET IN A GODDAMN TENT

At least I know I will never have to worry about an avalanche killing me on Mt. Everest...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep, one less thing to worry about.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The sherpas are the real MVPs there they climb that mountain day and night

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the fuck was their tent made from ?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ball Sack skin... from sheep!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

https://youtu.be/_JC_wIWUC2U full clip, as far as I can tell

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Meh

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

ppl died, but meh I guess right?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"An avalanche on the tallest and possibly deadliest mountain in the world? Let me stand in the middle of it and film it" -camera guy

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

Why not? It’s not like there is anything he could do to stop it.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Watch the whole video, it happened out of nowhere.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it was sudden, they were at base camp. 10 sherpas and 9 climbers lives were lost.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's basically nothing else he can do. There's no getting away or out running it, there's only "hope for the best".

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember, every frozen corpse you pass on your climb to the top of Mt Everest was once a motivated living person just like you.

+1 for Milana Vayntrub.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

always plus one

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A friend was out skiing with a group and hit an avalanche. One guy was buried for 8 minutes before they found him.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The thought of that has kept me awake from time to time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Female version of James (TheOdd1sOut)?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Kinda?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are you supposed to do in this situation? Just try and ride it out and hope for the best?

8 years ago | Likes 142 Dislikes 0

Bend over and kiss your butt goodbye.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hide in your flimsy tent, of course

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

*flimsy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

get into those avalanche tents, they are not your regular camping tent , they design to withstand certain amount of avalanche

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fly?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

you just die

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

DON'T hide in a tent. Cover your nose and mouth, try to keep upright, wait for everything to stop moving and dig dig dig.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve answered this before, since this is a repost. Stay on high ground and pray. Don’t go inside of a tent, you get covered by snow and tent

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Piss yourself so you know if you’re up or down

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 2

In Iceland we are taught to drool or spit not piss yourself lmao what

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, that part won't be a problem!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That provides no useful information. If you're buried, you're going to be entirely unable to move. Even people buried to their waist with+

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-both arms free are generally unable to dig themselves out. Avalanche debris is pretty much like concrete.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can you really not tell?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think people have been found dead and had dug themselves deeper trying to escape

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. You have lots of pressure all over your body and your heart is pounding so you cant feel if blood is pooling.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your supposed to realize that this was not a good idea and if you survive you will stop doing stupid shit and polluting places like this

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 25

Earth was meant to be explored by humans. Sit down.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

There are a few things you can do to try and make sure you get an air pocket. If you manage that, you have a chance. If not, you die.

when you have mere seconds to react, it lands on, not-much-else-you-can-do.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Avalanche debris has roughly the consistency of concrete. You won't be able to move at all once it stops and won't be able to move+

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 2

https://vimeo.com/6581009 For reference, here's a helmet cam of a burial who was rescued in 4.5min (*very* fast). It's... unsettling.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-purposefully while it's still flowing. Even if you do get an air pocket, your breath will create a nice airtight coating of ice on it,+

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

-so the amount of time before you suffocate won't be much different. Your only hope if caught in an avalanche is to have a beacon and a+

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

I read 'bacon'.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

-friend with beacon/probe/shovel who wasn't caught. Those "make an air pocket" guides are written by people who have never seen avalanche+

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

Think there was a Worst-Case-Scenario book that recommends “swimming” downstream with it to stay on top of the material

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

They used to say this a lot but survivors have said it does not work. "Like swimming in concrete "

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So....just jump when it hits you?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Don't jump. Jumping could knock you head over heels, and make you hit your head. Swim with it, and try to get on top while it's moving. (1)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks. Not asking for me because I can never see myself on a summit of a mountain unless I was helicoptered in.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While it's flowing, snow can behave like water, and you can move through it. The moment it stops, it'll settle and become very dense. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

not hide behind the tent like his friend lmfao. as if that would work

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

And you'd face it head-on with arms stretched out.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"With arms wide open..."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well they're the only ones that survived this avalanche so ...

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

this is true haha

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

359 people in that camp, 19 people were killed.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

except it would totally slow down loose rocks and other harmful degree and help form an air pocket which is key in avalanche survival.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yes, head injuries in this case are the things going to kill you quickest.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

dude.. its going right thru that motherfucker.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

slow down not stop. Do u c the amount of the loose pebbles in the footage? I didn't notice any holes in tents, mayb because of angle though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

aight i can see pebbles...but when i heard the word rock that is not what I thought of. i thought of a big meaty sucker.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but besides all of those things, ya you're right.

thats what im saying. it would sorta be like falling through a pool tarp. you die

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Only that they didn't die.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They obviously got lucky and didnt get wrapped up in the tent. Y are people seriously thinking they lived bc of the tent.
