Someone is building little houses for stray cats. First we saw only this.

They were really calm and not afraid of us at all

Then we found more a bit further.

They have a nicer view than i have at home.

Little fella sleeping inside.

There where around 15-20 cats lying and chilling in the grass all around the little huts.

Every hut is filled with blankets and they have two boxes in front of the houses where someone is leaving food for them.

Little Derp. Edit: went back and took some closer pics of the huts today. https://imgur.com/gallery/dYOg9

There is a place like this in Italy along the Cinque Terre. Kitty hotel that you can donate to.

Things like this give me hope for humanity.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But how do we know it's not felinity? What if it's cats building their own houses

It's a little cat village...how quaint.

We used to do this for a small colony behind the local grocery store. Kept at it for 5 yrs until the last of them died. Miss those babies.

FORÇA PORTUGAL!

We had something like this because a pregnant stray cat moved under the dining hall at college. But everyone kept trying different things

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like San Francisco, but for cats.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm doing the same at my work (Tire factory) Spotted 6 cats under the basement 2 years ago, allowed to place boxes with blankets..

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Got them fixed and I feed them every 2 days. Couldn't let them in dirt and drinking poor used water. Unfortunately 1 died this year..

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He kept sleeping inside the factory, just behind some machines, I think the constant smoke, heat and noise killed him :(

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and there happened to be a chinese restaurant nearby...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd call it a Hooverville for cats but they hate vacuum cleaners

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Being devil's advocate here, but I don't believe this to be a good idea. At it's worse it's going to give people a moral get out of jail -

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

free card when dumping cats. At it's best you're going to have a large population of cats living in one spot. Goodbye wildlife.

A feline bordello.

Start wearing purple, wearing purple. Start wearing purple for me now-ow-ow.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they are going to breed like crazy. Stray cats everywhere, going through the trash, getting killed in traffic etc.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I hope that someone is also making sure they're all spayed and neutered. and how was the smell?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

There was no real smell, actually.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Cool

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Male cat urine smells horribly. If there's no smell, then at least the males are neutered.

Nothing like feral cats multiplying in your neighborhood.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Who says they are multiplying?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's what they do. If this is a special population of sterile cats, no one said so. Seen this in big pkg lots, etc. Fleas, disease, etc . .

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

If they are being cared for it’s not uncommon for them to be part of a catch and release program. I don’t see kittens in these pics.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, that’s great. Leave some cans of catfood.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

I should really do that!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Leave a bag instead

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They need to be fixed before they breed

8 years ago | Likes 212 Dislikes 5

If you check the 2nd pic, the black cat definitely has an ear tip, sign of a fixed feral.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think this about most ppl I meet.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Look closely at the ears. Tipped ears mean they have already been Trap-Neuter-Released.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If it’s a feral colony then they may have a catch and release program where they release fixed strays there. I don’t see kittens.

As someone who loves cats and has never not had at least one, I can't agree with this more. Outside cats are terrible for an ecosystem.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

It’s in Porto. The ecosystem is already fucked.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"It's already fucked so let's fuck it up some more"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I was going to say the same thing, we went from no cats on the farm to like 40 cats on the farm in 2-3 years. We just feed the strays.

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Was this detrimental to the area? I know cats tend to have big impacts but i dont have alot of first hand experience with it.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Hope it's not a chicken farm. I would exterminate them if they went after the birds.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

We had a little bit of everything on the farm, chickens, goats, emus at one point. We mainly farm grain thought.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only negative effect they had other than mauling you as you walked out the door was their shit everywhere.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our barn cats are scared of the chickens >.>

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my neighbors weren't for sure, one of them loved to kill chickens now and again

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Not all cats go after chickens. My cat was on a chicken ranch with chicks, brought back rats, moles, etc, no chicks

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh my neighbors fucked up his chickens on occasion for shits and giggles
