The Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel, photographed with a fish eye lens

This location was used in the Hunger Games and Matrix films for those of you who think it looks familiar. Taken with a timer - took me quite a few tries until I lucked out and got it almost perfectly symmetrical.

not enough nipples for HR Giger.

Mmmmm Matrix:)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This view was also used in Spider-man: Homecoming. And DragonCon is a blast!

Don't I know it. I go there every year for FWA! I can't wait to go next year.

ATL!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like the test footage of the vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I WENT TO A CONVENTION HERE AND EVERY TIME I SEE IT IN A MOVIE I'M LIKE "I'VE BEEN THERE" AND NO ONE BELIEVES ME

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I believe you!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was also used on that work trip I went on a few years ago where my boss kept referring to Brie cheese as “that bry cheese”.

Watch out for chairs

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I guess assholes have been known to throw chairs off the balconies? That's fucked up you could seriously kill someone

At first I read this as the interior of Alanis morissette

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like, KINDA get the Giger, but this is 0% Escher...

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Escher because the perspective is warped: The skylight in the roof looks like it's in a wall at first.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really.... Escher is mathematical surrealism. This is Giger Ribs.

I'd love to see the same thing done at the Thompson center in Chicago

Don't I know it. I go there every year for FWA! I can't wait to go next year.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in Matrix? What scene??

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No sure it's what a bunch of people told me before I went over there to look at it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nothing I would recall.... hm.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's nothing. Try taking this shot looking up from the Burj Al Arab lobby.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you have one you could share here?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe this location was used for Spiderman homecoming. In the first trailer there was a shot where the camera is looking ....part1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Part 2 ..up at a similar angel and the valuture swoops down from above. But that shot didn't get used in the final move. J

Ribbed for YOUR pleasure...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

LOL somebody said I should title this "Canal" because it looks like the perspective of a baby being born

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was thinking more like "...vs. Jonah's POV."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More importantly, this is where DragonCon lives every year. 85,000 of my closes friends for 4 wacky, cosplay days.

8 years ago | Likes 157 Dislikes 9

So many people have recognized this from DragonCon! Now that I know about it I totally want to go to the next one it sounds AWESOME

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I only went one day this year and might miss next year, makes me sad. Life changes are rough, man.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck. Yes. Been going to Dcon for almost 10 years now, best vacation ever.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Oh yes. Year 12 coming up for me. Hauling all my cosplay shit from Cali is a challenge.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every....damn.....year. I deal with 361 days of bullshit for those 4 amazing days

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Yessss! Dragon Con is my all time favorite con!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dragon con rocks

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I always have friends on the 28th floor or something, and look out over the edge and think "Yup, someone's going to shove me and I'll die."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

what is that

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So sweaty but so much fun.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They also hold a massive furry convention there every year. See: Furry Weekend Atlanta. That hotel knows every kind of weird.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The fetlife crew has been getting pushed further out to the spillover hotels in recent years. But yes, furries and everyone else are there.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

From above during DragonCon, I can almost smell them:

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

I'm amazed nobody high in a dragon suit, decided to jump from the top and try to fly

Dude! I put in my PTO request for DragonCon 2018 during DragonCon 2017

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I am such a friend. Hello friend!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I friend! Only 84,999 more to go...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’ve never been - sdcc last 4 years but not even trying for badges this year. How do I get into dragon con? I hear it can be a chore too.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You fill out a form online. http://dragoncon.org/ You're too late to get one of the 4 Con hotels though. But you can always Uber...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best advice would be go Thursday around dinner time and you'll just walk through the line otherwise it's hours in line during the morning.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That. Carpet

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm told they changed the ugly carpet a few years back, but I've been unable to go to DragonCon to confirm.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They changed it. But, the Cult of the Carpet is still present; I saw more Cult costumes last year than ever before.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This photo was taken last Friday - so this is the carpet in there now. The design worked perfectly in this image

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cult of the Carpet is a different thing. People cosplay AS that old carpet...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This I have heard. I must return

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Dragoncon.... I must know more

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People ask if it's like ComicCon. Imagine if ComicCon were actually run by fans and wasn't about selling the products. That's DragonCon.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

it... it's about dragons, right? :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

LOL In part. Dragons, superheroes, writing, astronomy, cartoons, comedy, costuming, costuming, costuming, and yes, alcohol.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sci-fi/fantasy, though pretty much any geeky/nerdy stuff shows up.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't actually gone but I've live in Atlanta and seen the massive crowds in the streets

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You should get a day pass and try it out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in grad school now idk if I can make it home but would give me an excuse to visit my mom

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Friday or Monday, it is packed Saturday & Sunday. But so many costumes on those days

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Friday would be a good day to choose. Monday, people are so busy going home and sessions are meh…people are just exhausted and hungover.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

go its well worth it just for people watching alone

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's honestly why I'd go hang downtown just to watch all the crazy impressive costumes and the crazy not impressive ones

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also the hotness is nice

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely a lot of good looking people in that crowd to my surprise. Some in costume doing like photoshoots at random parks.
