Healing nicely
Previously on Imgur: https://imgur.com/gallery/orZE6
First and foremost, THANK YOU for all of your comments, well-wishes, pieces of advice, and expressions of curiosity. They were all happily welcomed!
There were several requests for a "before" picture, but I did not take any, as I didn't plan on posting to imgur. Sorry y'all. Just imagine a thumb-sized lump deep-set into the skin, like a big, un-poppable pimple. That's what this thing was. The incision is about 2.5 inches long. Yes, they had to shave some of my hair to get to all of it. Oh, the woes of a woman!
Pathology results came in as well. The lump was NOT cancerous. It was determined to be localized inflammation from something else, possibly from something that happened ages ago. I still have my post-op follow-up appointment for Monday.

YAY!!
Zootsoot
Yay! You're okay, AND you get a faboo scar in JUST the right spot to brag in bars...but not have disfigurement or move clothes to show!
IntergalacticCheeseSandwich
Good to hear it's not cancer!
buttcrackula
So what did it turn out to be? Glad you're doing better!
RedMedal001
I want to live in the dream, Op. We have nice things in here.

I have a tumor in my pituitary gland. Grats on getting it out. Mines done damage to my eyes. I hope I get better after this.
mildlynerdy
I hope you get better, and soon...
Jonny00700
Glad to hear your doing okay!!
AgentSmithPS4
The one that got away.
scubaphoenix
You could get a tattoo incorporating the scar for a kick ass display of your journey
mildlynerdy
Military prohibits tattoos on the neck, otherwise I would. :(
Preincarnage
Healing very nicely OP. Keep up the good upkeep!
BlahBlahMeatEater
That's the same spot where I had my birthmark=5 lrg skin tags all lined up. Made wearing necklaces/having long hair horrible. Lasered off.

Not to be gross.. ever heard of vanishing twin syndrome? Happened to my friend's mom. They found her twin's remains in a lump in her neck...
mildlynerdy
I have, but I highly doubt that was it. This is the first time I've ever had this issue, and the doctor didn't relate it to a womb-twin lol
flaer
You are one of observers from Fringe, aren't you?
FoxHuman
I that'd happen to me, I would just HAVE to see what the lump looked like afterwards.
mildlynerdy
They drugged me up before I could ask them to take pictures hahaha
FoxHuman
Damn them drugs! Haha

I just had my neck cut open tonight for similar shit. I've for a bunch of stitches in me right now.
mildlynerdy
Speedy recovery vibes sent your way!
Viralregurgitator
Thanks.

I guess you can't get in the robot anymore, Shinji.
Shmalcoholic
Congrats OP!!
Zippla
I have a seam like that on my scrotum.
Rivalyn
Not-Cancer and an interesting story! You're having a fairly good week, I would imagine.
goobstatus
I had one removed a few months ago from my head/neck too... congrats on the good news and a BA scar you can make up stories about!
MrDeadsr
Chicks dig scars. So if you swing that way. But nice healing on the scar.

"Benign" is one of the best words. Glad you're ok. Nice neck, too.
mildlynerdy
I agree. And thank you!

It's true, I'm a terrible person. I'll see myself out.
BeefyWeefs
Was it just a lipoma?
mildlynerdy
It was compacted inflammation brought on by some unknown cause. It wasn't lymphatic, thankfully.
BeefyWeefs
I'm glad to hear it wasn't dangerous!
ThisIsSteel
So, is your neck starting to feel a lot better now that it's removed?
mildlynerdy
Once the surgery-related pain subsides, absolutely. It was causing headaches and neck stiffness.
ThisIsSteel
Good, glad to hear it! It seems like it would feel like a huge relief.
HopscotchRabbits
Glad to hear you're ok! I've also got a similar scar from a surgery for Chiari. Warning, it's a bit gnarly https://imgur.com/591A9ue

I too am a zipperhead. Chiari surgery in 2010. Life changing

Yikes, aunt has one from Chiari but it healed really nicely
HopscotchRabbits
I'm glad to hear it! Mine has healed up pretty well too but I've started wearing my hair long again instead of my buzz cut.

Have you seen relief from the symptoms? How long did it take? I'm about 7 months out now and I still have mine but they're lessened.

I'm sorry you still have some of the symptoms but glad they are at least better. I'm hoping mine continue to lessen. Oddly enough 1/2
HopscotchRabbits
Hard laughter is the worst for me. Sneezing, coughing, and bending over aren't so bad anymore.
aloneinacrowdedroom
How did you get the diagnosis?? I have EDS and suspect Chiari but dr looks at me like i have 3 heads when i bring it up
HopscotchRabbits
I'm sorry to hear that! My doc recommended an MRI and they found it immediately. I just told them I was having head pains 1/2
HopscotchRabbits
When coughing, sneezing, bending over, etc. He sent me to a neurosurgeon and they discussed it with me. I had no idea what it was
aloneinacrowdedroom
I am currently unisured but hopefully some point soon will have something. Then maybe i can make some headway! Thanks
HopscotchRabbits
I wish you luck! MRIs can be unreasonably expensive even with insurance. My first one was $1500 out of pocket w/ ins. 1/2
