Yeah, it was a good protest, I just got back home from it!
I saw the sign in #8!
#11 #17 #19 and #20 were all taken just a few feet from where I was standing in the first part of the protest.

#1 There's no such thing as a "Roman salute." There is no evidence they had one, at all. One relief of a soldier with his hand adjusting his helmet has been debated for 30 years and that's the closest you'll get.

Really cool to see the USA wake up and stand up! Fight for democracy! Get this fool out of office.

Label this shit as politics please!

Hey rest of the world: good news, this was the largest protest yet. Bad news: the rest of you wouldn't even notice it as a real protest.

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's a huge step forward.

Get angry and get loud. Think of better slogans to yell. I can't emphasize the power behind 10k people repeatedly yelling, "GET THE FUCK OUT!" in unison.

As a pro wrestling fan , I agree. The simplest chants can be the most effective.

I wish you the strength and endurance to protest until your goal is achieved! Greetings and thanks from Europe.

This is the beginning of fighting back. Please stay the course and push back every day against this fascist oligarchy.

One of my favorites today at our protest was “I’VE SEEN SMARTER CABINETS IN IKEA”

Hahaha I love the junk drawer sign

#3 under these circumstances i doubt germany would have givin hitler a second term .. but good that people are starting to protest

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#1 So does he...

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#3 most of them didn't. Guns are just scary

I just left there. My mother 95, my brother and my sister and my son. It was a good showing for Phoenix

#6 Unfortunately inflation is not forever. By the end of this 50 dollars an hour is gonna have to be the new 15 dollars an hour.

Elon Musk tried to explain it away... but he couldn't. The arm movement is precisely the same, and from chest to extension, the same timing. The man openly supports the fascist AfD in Germany, so it's completely on-brand for him. There's so much about him that reeks of fascism.

A reminder to NOT debate Nazis about Musk being a Nazi... they will waste your time while snickering about how they wasted your time.

If you accidentally made a Nazi salute, you would be apologizing for eternity, not laughing at the people who noticed it and tweeting about how horrible Jews are:

Imagine seeing literal Nazi propaganda and saying "This is true!"

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Even without the salute, Musk has shown that he reeks of antisemitism and is pro-fascist. Not just many of his social media posts, but is overt support for the AfD. Note, he never apologized. He only derided people for the accusation. Meanwhile, Nazis across social media praised him. Did Musk deride or disavow them? No.

And Trump just continued to support him, no matter what. Trump is a fascist too.

Jesus christ this image is so grotesque. I know it's meant to invoke that but holy shit

#20 I agree with the sentiment, but the typo made me chuckle. On par with the classic "Get a brian, morans".

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

50:50 that it was intentional

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Likely why they have that side facing them lol

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

these posters often have two sides painted, either with the same thing so it's visible from either side, or different things and they flip them from time to time.

Question - Now that the big protest is held, lots of people met up. Great work. Then you go home. If this does not seem to have any impact (lets say, for example if billionaire oligarcs don't care that people are pissed)... What is next?

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the first ones were in February on the fifth. This one was in April on the fifth. So, presumably, more will be proposed going forward.

If you mean when will America riot, probably not in any serious capacity until martial law is declared. Though that isn't really something a citizen can plan for, especially with how this administration has been handling things.

If you mean what will you do when none of this works, die probably. Can't speak for most people but I'm surplus population.

To be honest, I'm speaking from concern of what may even be possible but without a good grasp of what might happen when the head of state gives zero fucks. Riots is honestly what ive been expecting for a long time.

Im not surprised it's taken so long. The modern police state is not something you overcome on a whim. Not that it won't happen. Also, it remains to be said, the violent people all voted for Trump. So that will influence the timeline of events.

Felt like one of the Mario brothers also did impact the timeline already. In any case, we seem to be living in such an absurd timeline one can only wonder what history books will write about it.

He did, that is undeniable. But also remember that Mr Luigi was a person of above average means. Middle class, even. A lack of resources has likely prevented similar things from happening sooner.

#3 unfortunately that is only one part. There have been demonstrations at the beginning of Hitlers seizure of power (for example 20.000 people in Nuremberg, 60.000 people on the day he was appointed as Reich Chancellor).
All fingers crossed that the USA will find a way to stop the madness

11 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Yeah, if only they had elections to decide who would rule their country! Oh wait...

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, there was a lot of resistance, from established parties (e.g. SPD), from civil organisations (e.g. Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold), from students (e.g. the White Rose)... it just wasn't enough. Always remember, some of the first people who died in the camps were internal political enemies.

This feels a bit like shitting on them.

How? The GOP controls everything, including the supreme court and for the next year's they are probably going to extend that super majority to a ultra majority. I swear you will not seeing a democratic majority there for the next 30 years.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Fascism is something that will burn very brightly for what seems like it'll be an eternity, and then it either gets extinguished by external forces or implodes upon itself within a fairly short time. It's just so toxic and inherently corrupt.

Yes, it's possible it may take 30 years. But I wager it'll be more like 10 years. Democrats are the only ones with workable solutions to problems. And climate instability is going to prove that out in a hard way.

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah but legally. If now the 3 expected SC judges retires, 2R and 1D. You get 3 more R in and if they pick them as 30/40y old you are going to have SC R majority for 30-40y before they retire. And actually luck in on having a democratic Senate whenever judges retires.

When Trump was POTUS, Justice Kennedy retired a few years earlier than he'd been planning to retire. They also had a visible discussion that had no audio, where Kennedy shows a startled reaction to something Trump said.

Many people strongly believe Trump worked a deal with Kennedy to resign early so Trump could appoint another SCOTUS justice. This is what Republicans are now doing at the state level. Also, watch Thomas and Alito. I'll bet one or both resign before 2029.

And Trump wants to serve another term after this one

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, the good thing is, he won't even make it past 2028, politically speaking. Already the guy is a total mess. He is waging this horrific tariff war that he's GOING TO LOSE. He can't speak intelligibly to save his life. And I think his drug abuse is catching up with him. He can't hold rallies like he did in 2017.

He couldn't before he got elected in 2023 either but here we are.
