I can't here Kowloon without thinking of how the walled city was depicted in the Kowloon Palace arc in Street Fighter II V.

This is so fucking insane, I literally just finished reading an article about how Stray's (that cat game) location is based on Kowloon.

Yeah def made me think of Night City

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

HK def has a cyberpunk vibe

same time, the digitalization became noticeable. Cyberpunk is the amplification/carricature of how people felt about the near future.

So the asian character of cyberpunk cities is stemming from a fear of a japanification of a decaying west.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Didn't they dismantle Kowloon?

3 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 2

In case you missed it; only the walled city of kowloon was dismantled.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're thinking of Kowloon Walled City. Kowloon proper is the northern part of Hong Kong, connected to the main land.

3 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 0

Ooooooo. Thanks

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

The walled city was dismantled, the neighbourhood is still there.

They dismantle the Kowloon walled city, which is only a very small portion of Kowloon, one of the three main district in Hong Kong.
