The type of argument I get into with my aunt all the time.  Love my family... sometimes.

It started with this post.

An idea that I'm a fan of, but apparently others aren't. I'm in green.

I'm definitely not the most passive person and I love to debate - but I will defend my point until I am proven wrong, and even then I'll keep going for a while.

So, she replied twice to the original post - the one above and this one. This one was a little more aggressive.

And towards the end of this is where it got confusing to me... And yes, I was being inflammatory.

What a biotch

I do not think drafting women is a good idea, but that's just me.

Your aunt is one of those people, I see.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why do you even bother?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I can't believe you mentally raped her, op.

What I recommend is constructing a Web of her own statements, then entangling her in her own fallacies like a fisherman nabs a trout.

Your aunt seems like a grade A cunt

Oregon is not a cheap place to live?..How do you figure that, it's hella cheap man.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Around Portland definitely isn't... Sorry, didn't mean to speak for the entire state.

Your aunt sounds like 90% of my family. I stopped looking at fb because arguing with stupid is pointless.

When a man can give birth?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Right? Because that's what's keeping men from being equal to women apparently. (And doesn't include trans men?)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Men can give birth, anyone else see that Arnold movie? :p

Shut the fuck up kid. No one cares about your facebook arguments.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

"Kid" he says. But you care enough to comment. Thanks!

When I see an errant child acting out I try to set him straight.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Well, I appreciate your concern.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Seems to me you're pissin in the wind arguing with that woman.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Would pissing in the wind if the wind was going the right direction/speed be helpful? Unrelated... sorry

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but last time I blocked her she complained to Grandma... And I didn't want to upset Grandma.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Well, I approve of your current tactic; screenshot and mock. I have family like that...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unsubscribe so you don't see her but also don't unfriend/block. Looks good for you and ends the issue.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mate you have way more patience than me. I would have not even replied after about her second comment at most

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I would have gone off on her. Arguments like these drive me insane. And I am a woman! XD

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most people wouldn't. I am a bit of a (sadist/masochist?) when it comes to debating, especially with family.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You are related to this person?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess it says it in the title lol sorry

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All good, lol.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

While I don't agree with your aunt, you seem childish and arrogant.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

I like to pick debates. I never shy away from them. And this isn't the first time I've had a debate like this with her.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

You're not "picking debates", you're intentionally pushing buttons, knowing you'll piss her off. That's childish.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

I mean yeah, I am. I know I am. She comments on my post with antagonistic bs and I have a right to retaliate. Not the most adult thing, sure

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

You do have that right, you also have the right to not sink to level of her bullshit by egging her on.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

If she has the audacity to spew her bs on someones post, that wasn't even aimed at her, why cant he respond how he feels necessary? Grow up

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

There isn't anything wrong with someone defending their views, it's the fact that he had take screenshots and post the entire shit show

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ah yeah I see what you mean

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elsewhere. Most people would just let it be.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

@OP, there actually *is* a pay gap. Women make $0.95 (not $0.77) for each dollar a man makes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It's still something to work to fix, but immaterial to the subject at hand (besides my comment)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Be that as it may, that's nothing compared to the 20-30 cents on the dollar that most feminists swear by.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

4)...are usually kept secret. But the anecdotal evidence is powerful.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2)...women simply aren't considered for. You may have data showing that all female Managing Directors on Wall Street make as much as men...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

1) The $.95 is only what can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. The *REAL* pay gap comes because there are some jobs (like CEO) that...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

3)...but what your data won't show is all the qualified women who never get promoted to MD. It's very hard to study because salary numbers..

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ok, but those are women in different positions than men? That's what I'm saying - a woman working in Position X isn't necessarily going 1/

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

to make the same as a man in Position Y. They're inherently different positions.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sexism stops the woman's promotion to Position Y. She remains at the lower Position X...where her low salary doesn't hurt the numbers.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And if it can be proven (or in some cases even implied) that the promotion was a result of sexism, it falls under Fair Labor Standards Act.
