Cause that thing is so fucking heavy you need momentum to give you a helping hand. Also thats sexy AF and I'm a straight man.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This armour provides very high levels of resists to the blast damage type at the cost of agility

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought he was gonna turn into Wonder Woman.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

fabulous!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's like opposite wonder woman

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Based on the fact that he's at a track, he must've just completed a PFT/PFA, or some other bad ass mother fucker test, in that suit. >

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Forgot which unit, specifically, does this as part of the final test of training.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is ex UFC fighter Tim Kennedy.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why is this in slomo?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bomb suits always make me think of FatMan from Metal gear solid

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cut off too soon. Wanted to see pants removal too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

On a side note, I saw that "The Hurt Locker" is back on Netflix.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Approximate cost of the Gen10 suits: $30,000

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The helmet is 75% of that cost.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He’s a retired UFC fighter so you can see him in next to nothing being ripped. But no.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Special forces and went through ranger school. Still served while he was in the UFC.

Thanks, I have my plan for Valentines Day now.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No that's what sailor uranium looks like

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep. They come on stage in a full firemans suit and have to take it off 1 piece at a time. First the gas mask... Then the left boot...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooh, can members of the audience catch the gas mask? I should go to... I mean, I should avoid that because that'd be super gay.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have never been to a strip club have you?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is my favorite scene, since it's supposed to make him look like an unflinching badass, but he looks like an untrained moron instead.1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I watched with a buddy who was in Iraq, he shouted "What a f-ing idiot!" and i haven't been able to take the movie seriously since. 2/2

Hi @BallsLikeWatermelonsPeckerLikeAThimble . A doctor here. You might have testicular cancer and should probably get that checked out.

130k+ points without a single post, good God you're awesome

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

The Hurt Locker movie I think.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yea, a shitty movie!!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 21

From a movie perspective it's a good movie, but it's very inaccurate.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Tim Kennedy is the fuckin’ man

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

He’s a d-bag. Just look at his Twitter

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

What about his twitter makes you think he's a d-bag?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

He’s insanely anti-immigrant doesn’t support DACA in the least Crítiques Muhammad Ali for not getting in the draft without knowing his story

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was thinking to myself while watching the gif that he looked like Tim Kennedy. Does he do bomb disposal on top of everything else?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He wrote about it on Facebook recently. He is the man.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah he was just drilling with some army boys I believe

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm curious. how effective are those things?

8 years ago | Likes 222 Dislikes 1

It's meant to keep your corpse in as few peices as possible.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

60% of the time it works every time.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

but there is only a 50/50 chance of that

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lets just say theres a reason its so easy to remove quickly. real talk, astoundingly so until you grasp all the forces involved in a blast.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I once had a police bomb tech I was talking to describe his gear as the difference between an open and closed casket at the funeral.

8 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

Talked to a bomb tech once. He said I believe with up to five pounds of tnt you can survive but you'll lose your fingers, toes, and hearing

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I blelive he also said your eyes may burst

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fortunately it was a small IED, & judging from the amount of unexploded mix it wasn't very well made. Could have been a different outcome.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better than nothing. Useless if your next to a device.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Just stops shrapnel, nothing you can really do aboutthe tertiary blast causing internal ruptures and collapsing lungs.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

they are researching a cool impact substance for hydrostatic shock, i wonder if this will work for blasts as well

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Hopefully, but I'm sure most would agree to find new tech that take humans out of the danger, while keeping the all important human element.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Outside of the kill radius of the concussive blast, they are great at stopping shrapnel, inside it they're as effective as a t-shirt

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

about 7 effective

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

On a scale of ...... ? Bananas? Hedgehogs.....?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ever seen HurtLocker?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 10

They just added it to Netflix

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My husband says its just to keep your pieces together. He said his team didn't wear them at all down range last deployment.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the whole point to keep your dead body in one bag, not to keep you alive

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about bullets?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just shoot the face mask and you'll be fine( payday 2 players are experts at this

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not very, his face isn't even protected.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Well, the helmet isn’t on.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's almost like I was making a joke.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

We don’t joke here on the interwebs

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever watched the beginning of The Hurt Locker?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure how admissible that movie is for realism

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I'd encourage you to read up on the movie

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Effective aslong as the blast insist of concussive setup.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

See also the opening scene of The Hurt Locker. I know it's a movie but that scene was confirmed as accurate by veteran EOD techs.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Not really, if the bomb was designed to be lethal from a concussion standpoint, which many IED are.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Any bomb is almost entirely designed to be lethal from a concussive standpoint. Explosives inherently have concussive shockwaves.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A device that is air exposed vs contained to spread materials is the difference. They are used to absorb those objects. In hurtlocker like _

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-someone mentioned he exposes them above ground, that changes the mode of travel from a medium of rock to air.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad said "worst case scenario, they'll have some meat left to put in your casket, best case you don't need to know" he was EOD...

8 years ago | Likes 374 Dislikes 2

Tell your dad he owes beer.

8 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 4

Thank your dad and what is the thing that looks like an iphone on his arm? Is that to monitor air in the suit or does this help defuse?

8 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 3

Cruising through random....Ive worn one of these suits, it controls the speaker on it, radio, fans in the helmet. Just a small control.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have no honest idea, he was active duty in the early 90's so I couldn't tell you.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

End of Discussion? Explosive Overdose?

Explosive Ordnance Disposal

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Explosive Ordnance disposal

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Technically, you are not wrong. If an EOD goes off then its literally the end of discussions

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Usually the result of an explosive overdose...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

of taco bell? yes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Theyre only rated for around 5lbs of explosives IIRC. Effective as can be up to the limit. Anything bigger, the overpressure kills you. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 1

Now, could the pressure and shockwave from one of those be nullified by a strong enough suit? (theoretical exosuit)

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The only Exosuit that could protect you fully from the effects is one you aren't wearing. EG: a robot.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure the existing suit lies at the limit of a human’s ability to function in it, so I would say not with existing technology.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

exactly. you'd need cybernetics and a skull able to shield your brain from that kind of damage... better off remote control.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or water cannon.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anything big enough, the suit isn’t even worn. It becomes more of a hindrance. If you fuck up, you’re dead. The EOD motto is 2/

8 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 0

Initial success, or total failure. And that’s for good reason.

8 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 1

Back to my first comment. Yes, you can survive bigger than 5lbs in the suit. But the likelihood of getting fucked up is high.

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

There is a few rules of thumb:15 psi- ruptured ear drum 25 psi- lung damage 30-40 psi- brain/skull damage 50 psi- dead.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

IIRC, they don't wear gloves with those suits, because your hands are going no matter what.
