My daughter and I pulled into the drive way at the same time and she is staring at me like this

I glance over again and see the window inching up

Pure joy right there

She is 16. Must mention that I am aware her car has peeling paint and that fence needs pressure washing because someone will notice, right?

She was severely depressed this time last year. Had a rough few months. It has been amazing watching her get better. She makes me laugh every single day.

**Obligatory FP edit: WOW, thanks Imgurians!

Yeah, she's gonna love rhis. : / Then she'll show all ger friends and pretend bitch lol

@OP, just wanted to make sure you're aware that trying to make other people happy CAN be a sign of depression. Keep an eye out is all. (: 1)

I'm glad she's improving.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good for you @op. It's always good to see a family member, let alone a child, slowly open back up. I'm happy for you and your family.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So glad she's feeling better! Had a lot of trouble with it at that age myself. You're doing a great job!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It still baffles me that 16 year olds are allowed to drive cars

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an English I agree, it seems very foreign to me.

In my country 16 is legal, so no problem here, just gotta bring her over! :P

She can drive herself.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never considered this before today, but... What happens if you pressure wash a human being?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ooo I can answer this, my boyfriend did it to his toesies. The water cut a messy line in the skin and muscle to the bone.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look up 'high pressure injection injury.' If you've got a soft stomach maybe don't be eating when you do.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man! I looked it up and I'm sure I want to BBQ tonite any longer...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I spent most of the day reading up on recent and old serial killers. I think I can take this.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bad things.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love the description. You took a picture of a funny moment and realized, "oh shit, people gonna judge every fucking thing."

9 years ago | Likes 875 Dislikes 0

I was like wow you are brave letting a 16 year old have a car!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was honestly just impressed he could afford his kid a car. And had a kid and a fence. We need to start evaluating our standards here.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Someone's been on the internet before!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She shouldn't worry. The people that matter won't mind and the people who mind don't matter.

Aint nothing wrong with that car. As long as she is happy with it, who cares what anyone else thinks.

95% sure it's the same generation of Accord that I drove as a first car... had been totaled twice, 345k miles when I sold it. Good times.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right! She is 16, your car is supposed to be a rolling pos at 16! Long as it is safe who cares.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My philosophy is this: if it runs, it's good

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My last car was WAY shittier. I miss that car, other people on the road would avoid me. Now I have a nice car any everyone drives TOO CLOSE

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that is way nicer than my first car was.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every vehicle I've ever had has had peeling paint and a few small things wrong ya know? I love those vehicles, and they still run great :)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

THIS. It runs, and gets her from A to B.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That's exactly what I always say

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it probably does it safely and in a reliable way. Can't complain about that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like it might even have A/C

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not very familiar with car stuff, but isn't peeling paint a hazard to the underlying sheet metal?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It can rust which is A, gross looking and B can make painting it in the future harder.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

But aside from aesthetic, rust isn't harmful?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's bad for the metal. Given enough time the rust will chew through the metal weakening it. Short term it's safe. Long term is less clear.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rust isn't really harmful in itself. It's a symptom of the weakening of exposed metal.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And as long as you're paying for insurance, tags, and gas, she'll be happy with anything.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 1

*Should be. I knew more than 1 kid in HS was not happy getting the crappy first car they did but proved their parents right by getting into

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2) an accident and totaling them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let me tell y'all motherfuckas something. I've owned my car for 15 years, and has literally been through hell and back. I don't have to make

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A car payment, sure is it old? Yes. Never breaks down ever, runs all the time. Needs new suspension, front end is damaged (just the lights)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But damnit it's a goddamn car. It runs. It works. It goes forward. Who cares what it looks like.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh, and I'm 30.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pics or it didn't happen.
