A Forest Under The Staircase...

THE TUNNEL

My sister's new house has a tunnel under the stairs that is made of two small rooms. After making my nephews a 6 foot long toothless plush and building them a TARDIS to fly, I figured I'd spoil them even more.

The first room Has some damage to the drywall so I couldn't work in there this trip. The second room however was free game so I decided to make it into a forest under the staircase.

I didn't take many pictures in progress as it is a pretty small space. Comfortable enough for me at 5'2" to stand up in with my head brushing the ceiling. My sister took this one. I free handed most of the painting. Used a few stencils from target too.

FINAL RESULT

The only time I could work on the room was when the boys went to sleep so I spent 3 nights working until 2 AM painting this space. Due to the disorder I have sleep is difficult so I think I clocked 15 min of sleep a night while there.

Also the space is too small to get a decent picture in, thus the fish lens.

Closet side door. They'll be adding molding and protective foam later.

I only used 2 quarts of paint, a green and a brown, and then added different smaller acrylic paints (the types in the little bottles) to get the other colors I needed. So the project all together ran me like 20 bucks.

My nephews saw it come together over the course of 3 days and after we painted the base green and brown they thought it was done and already saw a forest in their minds. The older one's reaction when his mom said it wasn't finished was adorable. "THERE'S MORE??"

Before bed he's remind me not to leave until I finished their forest hahaha! The little one is more laid back and was only excited when it was totally done.
