Why the red circle? Isn’t it the entire top of the globe?

In summer... in winter, it doesn't rise.

And these three Nordic lands is best place earth to live, if you dont fear cold, snow and cat sized mosquitos in Sumner time

OK... OK .. OK... now do winter. ?

Editor discovers a place above the arctic circle…

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You have to go up north for that. In the lower half of the country the sun still sets in summertime, though only for 4 or 5 hours

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Don't be taken in by these over-represented places. Norway has its fair share of ugly shit-hole towns, same as everywhere else.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And six months later is the land of darkness.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Watch Midsommar.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Hence Land of the midnight sun.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That usually refers to Finland.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What about that place where the "sun dont shine" where people keep telling me to put stuff?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

it is this same place.

Aaaand winter:

Visit Tromso. I cannot wait for a chance to go back

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tromso is so lovely; I've been during both the midnight sun and polar night. Beautiful little city, not to mention the northernmost brewpub!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And then it doesn't set again in the winter.

3 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

You mean rise again… though technically you are correct since if it never rises, it can’t set either.

I'd love that, finally being able to just... put my sunglasses away for months! (assuming months)

My wife had more issues with the winter. Summer you can just, go out and do stuff. It is much harder to do that in winter.

Good place to be an eye mask salesman

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You mean... sunglasses?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, in the day. But have you never slept with an eye mask on? They're great if you can't afford blackout blinds

Where did the beautiful music come from ? A movie ?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My identifier plugin only gave me this. Dorian Marko - Cornfield Chase https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiZyz7fhg5E

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sounds like version from Hans Zimmet OST in Interstellar

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Looks like the sun doesn’t set in Greenland either

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Or Iceland

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. We get a 4 month long day during summer and then an 8 month long night after that. Both are awesome but some get winter depression.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that Lofoten? Visiting there is a goal.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't recognize all the places, but at least some of it was Lofoten.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of Europe and a good chunk of the planet is there, all of Norway is in the circle as well. It does have 24/7 sun in the summer though.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here. I also wanna go on a cruise in the Norwegian fjords. Hecking beautiful, that place.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ive been up in alaska when the sun doesnt set, it was weird

3 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 0

+1 for a fellow Alaskan.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

950pm flight arrival June19. Someone on my flight stopped staff to ask: What time does the sun set? Airport Staff: August.

3 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Yeah there’s a pretty big section for f the globe in that gif not experiencing a sunset.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yeah thats a hard pass, I really enjoy the night time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then you’ll really love the winter. The sun doesn’t come up for 3 months.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do the wild animals stay up, or do they go to sleep? How long does it not set for?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The sun doesn't set in Alaska from May 10th to August 2nd.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Depends on where you are. In Anchorage there's a decent size mountain it dips behind so you'll get sunset /rise most of the summer but

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In Fairbanks June - Aug and farther north it's longer but the switch between all sun & none happens faster

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Do the wild animals sleep, or stay up?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sleep. If you don't sleep for months you die

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool and all with setting suns in Norway. But the reality is that it sucks trying to sleep darkness only from 2330-0430.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It isn't that long an amount of time there is darkness for that time span, usually there is all sun all the time or there is no sun at all.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you mean? There is darkness from November to January. Can sleep plenty then!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never understood this. I live in Finland, and it’s true many use black out screens but I just don’t get it. Do peoples eyes not block light?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Eyelids. Too lazy to retype.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eyelids let in a good amount of light. I wake up with the light and it varies with the time of year so in summer I don't sleep in.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I want to live there, circadian rhythms be damned!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Spent a week there, but I'm February, it was just fantastically dark and cold. Party time all the time

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That sounds actually very wonderful

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Until vitamin D deficiency sets in and you start missing the sun.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good thing the sun doesn't set there

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Winter.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't that change by season?

3 years ago | Likes 959 Dislikes 3

Ues, dumb fuck post

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Hug?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes

3 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

yes but then its the opposite thing lol

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's always funny to read sun set and rise times. One day it will say "The sun rises at 1:34 am, the sun doesn't set" and vice versa winter

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ur left nostril changes by season

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 4

Yellowknife works similarly

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fucking annoying too in summertime. Hard to sleep. Then in winter? Sleeping all the God damn time..

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. And only happens in the northern part of the country.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same in Iceland midnight sun is pretty lit tho

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

nah brah it's light all the time there, and down south like in new zealand it's like dark all the time no matter the season

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 8

You up north man? Mid Summer it's 5am to 11pm sun down south.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

something something where the sun don't shine

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

brah I got a degree in this shit brah trust me

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Alaska gets it in summer and it kinda sucks. Then we get like 5 hours daylight in deep winter, which also sucks

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Nothing better tham leaving for work in darkness and coming home in darkness, never seeing the sun. At least winter moonlight is bright.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

God, yes. On both counts. Moon out like 80% of the time in winter so its nice. Real danger zones the time between getting dark, and 1st snow

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nearly die every september/November cause my eyes are bad and darkness is the actual worst.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Turns out, glaucoma screws night vision too. But once it snows, even the smallest bit of moon reflects so well you can see everything again.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. During the winter WE GET ZERO SUN

3 years ago | Likes 963 Dislikes 1

That sounds great to me. You guys have food delivery, right? ;) If I'm not at work I don't wanna go out anyway.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have drugs? Sound like a place for a epic rave

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is your parking free at that time?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

... how can i apply citizenship?! Sounds wonderful.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don't deserve sunlight you high North Latitude freaks

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I Vant to go there. Seems like a nice place to dwell. Are der any basement condos available?"

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So for half the year it's evening, and the other half it's night?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

0 sun is preferable. I have lamps. It's a nightmare to try to keep a reasonable sleep schedule when it's always bright af.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

damn and that I thought we have it bad in Canada during the winter. I don't mind the cold, but sucks when its dark outside at 4:30pm

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What a lovely winter

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But for a few weeks every year, you have a "normal" day-night cycle.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kind of. As a Norwegian I am still surprised how sudden it becomes day/night when you travel further south.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn’t that season just called “dark”?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jealous. Down with the sun!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

aka WHAA TOOO MUCH SUN.... to.... OMG WHERE IS THE SUN

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so basically, you half looooooong days and then looooong nights? with some weird different lengthed day night cycles inbetween

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

?noredirect

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

And that's just November.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Sounds like a good place for a coffee shop

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Alaska has more coffee shops than I care to openly admit. Coffee shop is pretty much the go to starter business there.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look up coffee consumption by capita statistics, all Nordic countries rate crazy high, but my country (Finland) is usually the #1

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Explains why so many black metal bands come from that area

3 years ago | Likes 289 Dislikes 0

they're actually quite colorful in the summer

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Has a black metal enthousiasm and metal nerd in general...I never thought of that

3 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Metal bands per capita in Norway, Sweden, and Finland is the largest in the world. True story.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

You should use that if you ever get into a conversation with a flat earther.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

they're too dumb to understand such concepts

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They use that giant disc in the sky that Mr. Burns built in the Simpsons. Clearly. #doyourownresearch #thinksheeple, think

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Us Scots are used to that. But its not really seasonal, just shitty weather.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Wanted to work in Scotland. Edinburg is one of my favorite cities and I love the landscape. Problem is where I live we have 300 days of sun.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I spent 20 days in Scotland and I think I saw the sun once for about 4 hours

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0
