Oh Jesus. Yetus that fetus

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No its because mri scans are infinitely more expensive and theres often only one or 2 scanners in each hospital

Kid be like

They look the same as actual babies. Demonic. Get it away from me.

Pregnant people??

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sick I choose this method over ultrasound

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, that's not the reason. Ultrasound has costs that are less than what the person operating it earns in the same time. MRI is ~300-400€

“Hey! Do you want to see pictures of my baby?” (Screaming and running away ensue.) ⬆️

MRI's are also affected by metal, I can't have a high resolution one cause of implants

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had to get an mri of my baby and they told me to hold perfectly still. And I said "I can't control the fetus ya know"...

Monster resonance imaging?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the MRI has a lot of radiation …

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Silence. I kill you

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, the reason is that MRIs are fucking expensive to do, vs a cheap ultrasound.

3 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 3

no it's because MRIs reveal that your unborn child is the devil incarnate, pay attention

Not all ultrasound are the same. 19 week one of my eldest attached.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ultrasounds have expanded a lot. They now do 3D and show blood flow. Also have color added to show more variation in details.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can you draw contours? My eyes are not picking up any state there.

Its a head, lying on its side. Top on the left, jaw on the right.

Very demonic, and getting more demonic every day.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sto- uh, borrowed from imgur, but I *think* this is from an upcoming re-take on "Mars Attacks" ... or GQP rally in FL.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also because ultrasounds are dirt cheap and quick. MRIs take an hour, require huge machinery, and heat you up, and cost a lot.

3 years ago | Likes 613 Dislikes 3

I froze my ass off last one I got

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

^ correct ^

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just had an MRI on my brain a few weeks ago...NOPE. NO THANKS. DO NOT WANT.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But ultrasounds don't let you repost tired old memes for cheap internet points.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

"heat you up" What exactly do you mean by this? Sounds like I'm saving money for gas and food. ;)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any scan-sequence I've used was rarely over 10min, 10 min should be like +0,1 degrees max. The machine is more expensive though

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like 2 hours of your most intense sequencing (which they just do not use in hospitals) does maaaybe +0.5 degrees C

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah. This is the actual reason.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did notice that band of heat when I got one. Wasn't much, but it was there. Only took 20 minutes though. just a lumbar scan.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When my wife was pregnant we just thumped on her like a watermelon.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In US I pay $700 per ultrasound. That’s after insurance discount. In Russia I had MRI at private clinic, paid $70. Tell me about dirt cheap.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In Finland I recently had an MRI at a private practice on my own dime for about $250. No insurance, nothing. Alternative would've been a...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...referral to the public health care and it would have been free, but probably taken about a month. (It wasn't urgent issue.)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s nice. I wish we’ll get to that point one day. I’m about to have a hold and it will run me about 10k with health insurance. For which>

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m paying $650 a month. I wish we could just pay higher taxes and have universal healthcare.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would assume it would be difficult to image if the fetus/baby/parasite is moving.

Username does not check out

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

this. ppl. moving around while scanning isnt what the doctor prescribed.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

YES, that would suck ass to get to work on a technical basis

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That too! It's hard to get adults to lay still, can't imagine an unborn baby. It's generally not an hour, a single scan should be 10min tops

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

scans can take longer than that depending on the body part & if contrast is used! Like a spine section takes a while bc it’s so big :)

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's a good point, I did brain scans, it makes sense now you mention it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are they cheap relative to MRIs? Bc I keep getting these $500 bills...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Tell me you're American without telling me you're American.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

MRIs cost much, much more. The liquid helium alone is a bear.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ahh gotcha they're cheap by comparison.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as you're comparing, it's cheaper and more expensive than guessing.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where's the fun in that lol

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you a doughnut

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the plus side, they have headphones in them and you get to listen to music when you’re in the hole.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh man I wish, they just give me moldable earplugs that work half the time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do they care if you're high or a little drunk?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes if you're getting a pregnancy MRI they're probably a bit concerned if you're drunk

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

They probably have to scan dozens of people who are on tons of painkillers, so they’re used high people. Idk why anyone would get drunk 1/

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Before going in for their appointment. Unless you’re such an alcoholic that you can’t go a couple days without booze it would probably 2/

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also, MRI machines are not so great for people with even mild claustrophobia.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I’m not claustrophobic but my shoulders barely fit in the damn things.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lord they are awful. Even "open" mris

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i only knew of these since a few years. unfortunately there only a few in this country, none close to me, and are in high demand. I'll >

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stick with the one 10 minutes from me. it's modern and has music now.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They gave me headphones when I had one but only one ear piece worked. The noise, it was awful for sound sensitive me.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You could probably put pregnant people in legs-first.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn’t matter; for an MRI on my ankle, they had to put me in far enough that only the top half of my head was sticking out.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what the Ativan is for. Ask me how I know.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How do you know?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's literally the only way they can get me to not freak the fuck out during an MRI.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ll believe you. Never had one myself

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pshhh costs a lot hesays. I'm pretty sure I can go to ebay and buy a second hand one for half price, only like $150k

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thats like 15 mris to pay itself off

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the US atleast

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Christ, its so sad that isn't a joke ffs

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is what, like, as expensive as fixing a broken toe in the US?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aktchuwally, my daughter got a cast over Labor Day weekend, cost $50 - and that's because I opted for fiberglass wrapping instead of cotton.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, the fact that you had to pay from your own pocket instead of through taxes is such a foreign concept to me already... :/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It depends on your system. Not all UHCs are the same; some charge you at point of use, others do not.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

an hour depending on what they need. when i have my yearly brainmri it takes roughly half an hour. the time they did one of my wrist it was>

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

15-20 minutes.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My brain mri takes like 20-30 minutes but my brain+spine mri takes like 45min-1hour

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sounds about right. but i never take them together. NF1?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah I got a grade 2/3 primary brain tumor.
