I slept through the collision alarm once... thank goodness it was just a drill

Knew a guy who fell asleep on the rifle range. He wasn't firing, but everyone else was.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was once yelled at for falling asleep in formation standing up (not that you would be sitting during formation).

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In boot camp they would call Tattoo, tattoo. Not once did I stay awake long enough to hear lights out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm basically a narcalept and I refer to it as my super Power

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I swear to God in USMC boot camp I'd fall asleep within SECONDS of my head hitting my pillow. No exaggeration.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

(In the military) 90% of my work day is scrolling through Imgur. Not about that 0430 life

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best sleep I ever had was in a C-130. The engines are great for white noise.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sometimes I put 2-hour long youtube video of C-130's engine noise. Works like a charm!

8 years ago | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

I know this is nothin in comparison, but i slept behind a video wall during a corporate convention

8 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 4

I slept on top of the washing machine wall in basic so it's not that different. Just both prolly trying to avoid truly awful human beings.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I usually sleep at dimmer beach myself.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Marine 0811 (artillery): I slept through a fire mission in Iraq. Howitzers literally firing outside our hooch. Slept like a baby.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

took me about 6 months in theater, by that time to fall asleep during outgoing. Always in the middle of the night

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

During basic training I slept through a simulated mortar strike 20 m from my foxhole.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Slept through a gunfight at my friend's apt complex my first night in LA. Asked how, I said, "This is LA. That's normal here, right?"

I fell asleep in the middle of doing invoices with my finance manager once.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I fell asleep marching. Woke up out of formation...

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I did this as Guide, one of the scariest moments for me was realizing the flag was falling as i was still walking.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe it. Never happened to me, but more than a couple times I would be so out of it that I'd miss a command and turn half a step late.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was up for at least 58 hours during an ORSE. At that point, I had trouble distinguishing hallucinations from reality.

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Did close to a week @ NTC. cat naps about 15 mins here and there a few times a day. first night was the hardest.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its creepy. Especially when you start seeing things along with the sounds.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I started having hallucinations after 48 hrs on an LPOP in Iraq. Couldn't sleep and the desert does weird shit at night

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My boat is gearing up for ORSE right now. It'll be our first at sea ORSE in 4 years... it's gonna be interesting

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'll sleep extra tonight, just for you guys.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

ORSE?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Operational Reactor Safety Exam

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What kind of hallucinations?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Like I would hear people talking and my mind would just kind of fill in the blanks.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

People you're talking to or people out of sight?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I would never be able to do that. I can hardly stay awake for 12 hours at a time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hello fellow nuke, I've felt that pain, and sure as shit don't miss it

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Word. Vulcan Death Watches were about the worst way to screw with sleep.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I fell asleep while standing at attention... more than once.

8 years ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 1

Me too. Actually pretty common. Especially when under forced sleep deprivation in the field during training exercises.

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Fell asleep doing the electric chair. Not for very long but I woke up to the DS getting ready to rip me a new asshole.

You dumb bitch.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

Oh yeah, and fuck you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Well, that was rude. I hope you have to stand outside in the summer for 3 hours at attention for a change of command/responsibility some day

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

With an extremely long winded outgoing CO!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Slept sitting up sitting up in the back of a HMMWV while on maneuvers in ROK. Woke up only slightly every time my head hit the bench.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

To clarify, these were just training maneuvers back in 2003

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have fallen asleep in my sleep

8 years ago | Likes 527 Dislikes 0

I have too. In fact laying down and going to sleep has woken me up from my lucid dreams when I was done with them several times.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's like the opposite of inception; maybe deception.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sleep marching is also a real thing.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So deep

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you sleep in a dream you sleep in real life!

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Aha.. day dreaming tips

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So Inception was right

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

BWOOOOOOOOOONG!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've once actually had a lucid nightmare that I thought I woke up from and it was still going on (BWOOONG) scared the shit out of me.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I recently had a dream where I took a piece of living arm muscle from somebody and fried it up with onions garlic and BBQ sauce.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh shit! I worked LANTIRN. I miss it. Was just curious if maybe you had someone to talk to to stave of the sleep. Not another aircraft.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

LANTIRN was bad ass. Could. PHID a manhole cover at 8 miles. Had FTI too. Neat stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you're still in the community then you know why we got put out of business by newer TGPs. Glad to hear some appreciation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wife has told me at the end of her last deployment she would sleep through mortar attacks.

8 years ago | Likes 308 Dislikes 2

Slept through an actual cannon civil war style at 13

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Eventually the rumble of a diesel engine becomes a lullaby

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Fell mortar while being asleep

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just go deeper

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry for asking a dumb question, but would this put her in more danger?or she would wake up during crisis

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Depends on the body's subconscious awareness of the area. You might pop up awake instantly if your subconscious thinks there's a threat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh wow, would sucking the subconscious didn't think there was a threat!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but generally if you had good training you'd be fine, one way or the other. That, and the military always has guards up when we sleep.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From what she told me, their sleeping quarters were pretty well built and in during the attack they were suppose to run across 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The base to the bunker area to take shelter. I'm not sure how far away it was but I would think being out in the open would be 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even more dangerous. But I wasn't there so I'm honestly not sure. 3/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for your reply!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not a soldier, but I've fallen asleep through mortar attacks and bombings. Sometimes it's just a god given ability

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1
