Just how massive is the Phoenix Cluster's black hole?

"Holy crap value = 100"

some comment referencing muse

Noone exists on purpose, noone belongs anywhere etc

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously though..why does anything we do right now matter... it's like living inside of a bathroom your whole life and not seeing the world

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OH MY FUCKING GOD, WE ARE SO WORTHLESS

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is fucking amazing.

I like to think about things like this when I stress. It helps to put things in perspective. That and we're all star dust.

I'm not a fan. Of the universe that is.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what combination of drugs do you have to take to actually be able to understand the massiveness of that black hole

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Black holes don't get that big volumetrically. Largest black holes are the lightest, and get smaller the heavier they are.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Black holes have the same mass as the stars that formed them. This one is just huge.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And if you visualize a bundle of sticks big enough to bridge the supermassive black hole at at the center of the Phoenix cluster, that's @OP

How fast are we approaching?...Should I move from stocks into bonds earlier than I planned?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So this isn't even the biggest black holes ever discovered. H1821+643 is closer and has a solar mass of 30 Billion. BUT WAIT!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

THERE'S MORE!! S5 0014+81 has a solar mass of 40 Billion, but those numbers could be wrong because of some solar radiation interference.

It's not that I don't find it amazing but just extremely difficult to grasp for my small stupid mammalian brain

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amazing how that is still relatively tiny compared to the rest of the universe.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nonsense. None of this is in the Bible.

Schwartzchild 3:14- "and each galaxy shall have two black holes, one dominant and one dependent, and they shall be so bound"

Its ok, hopefully we will die from old age instead of some crazy universe shit.

Thank you! I've been looking for this video forever. It's better than all those other sun comparison videos.

(unscheduled offworld activation)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That hole is clearly not tight...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just like OP's mom!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What...the actual....fuck?!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

It's not the size of 20 billion suns though, it's just the mass, if earth were to turn into a black hole it would be the size of a peanut

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The singularity would be the size of a peanut, the "black hole" is the size in which it can pull in light.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ok you lost me, I just heard it in a Vsauce video :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But I do understand what you are saying and it makes sense

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought a black hole was really just a point in space, without volume? (But with a fuckton of mass, obviously)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It has volume(as far as we know) since its all just theory. Its just extremely dense.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is why it's important that we progress as a species

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Well if it's just about mass, I think the Americans are winning the space race

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I hate the idea of us getting off this rock and infecting the rest of whatever there is out there!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 14

Yep. I can't wait to get off this rock and leave the infection behind or on other planets far away from me.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree with you, but I also hope we've changed in a way by the time we are able to leave our solar system.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We just need to find a common goal and climb the civilization ladder

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But I'm a little scared, you know

9 years ago | Likes 150 Dislikes 4

As we should be. Your GIF humbled the shit out of me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at space fills me with elation. Knowing I'm so connected to the vast universe is a deep spiritual high for me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's fine, it's functioning as intended. Supermassive Black Holes are a feature, not a bug.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Where's the fucking sauce?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine if a white hole of equal size collides with it o.o

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Serioua question: Are white holes real?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

http://www.askamathematician.com/2013/04/q-are-white-holes-real/ The TL;DR, White Holes went Jesus to save us all from non-existance.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's racist, would you be scared if it was a white hole?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd be even more terrified of a white hole tbh. Think of the implications of what would be coming out of it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude I feel you, when I was younger I actually had panic attacks because of how deeplyI thought about all that shit..crazy place we inhabit

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Holy shit yes

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, that's still happening to me. And I used to live learning about this stuff till I kinda hit me the futility of it all

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still do. I have to keep myself distracted or else bad things happen.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Xanax.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never tried it. Always wanted to my anxiety is ridiculous sometimes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never read lovecraft man. He capitalizes on that feeling.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kinda wanna read it v

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd agree mostly, but his "Rats in the Walls" story got comically ruined for me by a cat named "Niggerman"

I'm not racist, but I like learning.
