For the first time today I was able to do something for me and no one else. All on my own and I couldn’t be happier. I don’t want to stop driving. I have wanted this car since it came out it’s a Ford Focus st 2016. I can’t stop smiling

*edit* thanks for all the awesome wishes didn’t think that it would make most viral! This made my day even more awesome send the boobs and car stuff!!!

CONGRATS! Happy for you!

Nice, we got my wife an 18 SEL last year, nothing but good experiences yet. Test drove an ST but couldn't talk her into learning manual...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats @op!!! Great feeling, isn't it?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats! That's a lot of adult points for you.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Good job not getting the sunroof. I love the car but fucking hate that thing.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No car payment = loose change for MODS!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a fun car. I drove a Mazdaspeed 3 for 3 years and it's basically the same thing. Enjoy OP!

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Congrats on being one of the few that can drive a manual.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It ain't that fuckin hard

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another building huh ps move those shitty small cars out of the way it's blocking the view

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well done @op, I have wanted an ST or an RS for quite a while, but sadly they are still out of my reach. One day perhaps. Happy motoring!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As someone who is not really a car guy, can someone please tell me what is so special about this car?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s all mine

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My 2005 Camry is all mine too, but that doesn't make it special.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

xD a ford focus makes the FP but my Z drowns in user sub. Imgur is a mysterious beast. Grats @OP gotta love getting into a new car.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry buddy let me go check it out

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol no worries wasn't meaning to sound complainy. More just commenting on how funny that is.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the FoST community! I'm a proud owner of one and it's great!

I see what you did there

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the ST fam. Check your purge valve recall ?

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Also maybe just go ahead and replace that rear motor mount real quick haha

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

16s have a better rear mount and don't really need them to be replaced. It adds more vibration than stability to the newer models imo.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nice car dude. good for you. I was able to do that in 2010 (golf mk5 gti) and still drive it daily. still in love!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nice! I had a turbo diesel fiesta, was a great little hatch, would like a focus though!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The Ecoboost GTDIs are something else compared to any of Ford's TDcis

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, amazingly economical

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My Zetec S Fiesta gets 70mpg at 70mph on motorways. And 0-60 in 7 sec. And no vehicle excise duty :-D

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats a very good car for the "normal" car bracket.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've got a 16 FoST as well and I love it to death. Excellent choice my dude.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I drive a 13', bought it new.

A couple months after I purchased my car I got a letter in the mail congratulating me on my purchase and offering me a weekend class at

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3/ opportunity for the new car and camped and made a vacation out of it. We were coming from Seattle, WA. The first day was orientation

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5/ “training” in the fiestas. For what it’s worth, I was the fastest female they had had ever at octane academy and beat out all the other

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ their octane academy in Salt Lake City, UT all I had to do was get register, and show up at the track. My bf and I used it as a road trip

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does it look on the inside , please photo Nice car ?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mine is a RS, but the inside is almost identical, so... https://imgur.com/bg1nnZL

This is fake, there’s no vape.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great car, looks really cool in black.

6 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I have the same car just newer also in black. Let me tell you it is a bitch to keep clean. But waxxing it helps alot

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The sunburst yellow colour that's only available for the ST looks better IMO but it's not going to be everyone's taste.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Still can't believe ford is going to discontinue every car except the mustang and the gt and just make trucks only.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Until you take it home and it’s covered in pollen 30 minutes after washing it. Fuck my black car.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

On my second black car, said I’d never do it again after the first one but did anyway. Black cars a a bitch to keep clean.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Send some pics, and I'll consider it.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Keeping a black car clean is like having a second job

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Paid in full?

6 years ago | Likes 380 Dislikes 11

Five finger discount.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shut the fuck up you guys! This is his first car, and dream car! Just congrats the man! Don't break the atmosphere ok?

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

It is a Ford..

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

So what...... It is not about the brand, it's about dream come true. Just let the man be happy, will ya

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You coulda had a used porsche boxster for $300/$400 a month while improving your credit score... but I'm happy for your achievement.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

The tco would be brutal comparatively speaking.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine will break once and cost X but yours will break 5 times.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You don't know what I drive. A Porsche is costlier to insure, and maintain, and depreciates more. Tco will be much higher than a small car.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good job OP. Congrats on the car and well done for sticking to it. All the best

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck yeah!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

High pressure car salesmen annoy the shit out of me. I saved for 13 years to pay cash for my current car so I wouldn’t have to remember it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-slow clap- I wanted to do so with my first car but had to do the entire loan thing to build up my credit...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Worst thing I ever did was buy a brand new vehicle. Now I'm stuck with a payment for something I don't want and can't leave my job lol

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I had to make payments though, if I would've saved up and bought a newer/used car outright I'd be much better off. You did good.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

v

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Now just save up the shelby version that isnt made anymore and u got the best in town

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The Shelby version is almost entirely just aesthetic upgrades. No one in the ST community takes it seriously.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is a Shelby edition ST?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kinda. It's not an official Ford option. It's an aftermarket/dealer option that most of the ST community derides for being cashgrab.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never.. it’s just decals at a 5k mark up

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You obviously don’t know much about it then if thats what you assume. Infact the top tier options included (1)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's awesome. Now, take a few hundred bucks every month and make a car payment to YOURSELF, not a bank.

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Yeah that’s the idea of it. I make sure my kids and everyone are taken care of

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Invest that shit! Put it in an investment account or buy a couple blue chip stocks. Not as secure as savings, but you'll get higher returns.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Seriously don't invest in anything unless you know wtf you're doing..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well don't do individual investments. Things like no-load index funds are the best and it's very hard to beat their performance anyway.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Please do, it's easier to make money on a market with many idiots.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Did ever say anything about not doing research before investing..? That's a given.. Why would you ever invest without first looking into

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Investing only becomes a smart move AFTER you've taken care of building basic defenses against the unexpected. Owning your car is basic.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Again that's a given... It's called a budget. You set aside a certain amount for investing, saving, bills, expenses, etc. Every part of your

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

does "basic defenses against the unexpected" include turrets and anti-air defense?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you walk in with a briefcase full of money handcuffed to your wrist? I've always wanted to do that

6 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

Haha that’s an awesome idea!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A $9k car is ninety $100 bills. You could stuff that in a wallet. You'd need to get to Bugatti level to need a small briefcase.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But what if you use 9k $1 bills?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine would carry a harmonica.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I paid off my car with the first payment. Gave a downpayment, went through financing, and then just sent the full amount on first payment.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My uncle once bought a pickup with a fat envelope full of $100s. The dealer was a little nervous about it.They don't usually see cash.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nowadays large cash transactions cause a lot of paperwork because of money laundering laws.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Someone once bought a Rolls Royce with two carrier bags full of cash.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, many insurance will pay off your loan in the event of total loss. If you paid cash, they'll just give you a "market value" back.

6 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 5

Always pick agreed value. Fuck getting what they determine market value.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have to have gap insurance here

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I was offered it with my first car and it was a no brainer. Short cash now and in the event it gets totaled I’m fine no matter what? Whooo

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gap insurance is God send. Actually ended up getting paid out more than I bought the car for both times I had to use it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Almost. It's called gap insurance. Always ask for it as its not readily available through all dealerships and insurers.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Better yet ask your insurance carrier. Typically $50 every 6 months for gap opposed to a thousand or so at the dealer.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's always better to outright own your assets. Builds equity. Gap insurance will cover the loss. Assets - liability = Owner's equity.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's not true. Sometimes depending on offers you can get a better deal on a lease bc of dealer incentives. I'll give an example. 40K MSRP

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lets say lexus is offering finance deal at 2.9% interest and the lease offer is $4,000 lease cash off MSRP. You need to do more calculation

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in order to know which deal is most sound you still need to calculate if the $4k lease cash saves you money vs the finance IF you purchase

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's no such thing as building equity when it comes to vehicles. With very VERY limited exception, they only lose value. (1/2)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's just so not true. Maybe with new cars that constantly depreciate as soon as you drive them off the lot, but I've owned several used

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cars that I sold for more than I bought it for. Buy a car with a few problems outright. Fix it up. Flip for a profit

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are constantly LOSING value/equity with any vehicle and should always treat it as loss. (2/2)

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not really, if you're investing your money you can easily beat the interest rate on a loan. You can make more using someone else's money

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why do u think unbelievably wealthy people still have mortgages? Keeping your money making more return over the 3.5% the bank charges.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People have a hard time with the concept. If your money can reliably make more money that your loan, no point in paying the house off early.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm-work for a rich af mortgage broker. The math just checks out-all 16 houses she owns are on mortgages. She's got millions

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's actually a bad idea for cars. Interest rates for car loans are so low, it may be a better idea to get the loan and invest the cash.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 25

It’s definitely not an investment never say that about a car purchase.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anything below 5% you should do min payments and invest extra cash into mutual funds or S&P

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I'm no investment genius, however and don't take my advice. All I'm saying is it's simple maths.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kudos to anyone who has the discipline to stick with it, but most people don’t, which is huge reason people have so much debt.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes dad

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

So what you’re saying is that everyone should take out a loan and invest the loaned money, even though investing is risky to begin with.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Borrowing money on anything that goes down in value is a had idea. If possible you should avoid paying interest on depreciating assets.

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

Wrong

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Opportunity cost. If you can invest the money at a higher rate than the interest on the loan then it makes little sense not to borrow.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Word. That and uhhhh, let the guy be happy ffs. Everyone always has fucking unsolicited advice

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Read the "total money makeover" by Dave Ramsey.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

On a small cost item like this, I'd disagree. Own your daily-use stuff outright, THEN use money for investing. Ask Dave Ramsey. He knows.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Small stuff like this? Holy shit I wish I had that mindset. I’m so broke my ramen is broke.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are factually incorrect. It is not financially viable to pay a monthly payments with interest on something depreciating by the day.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You will be ahead in net worth if you invest the cash at a higher rate than the interest rate. The backing asset is irrelevant.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There is not an investment bank on earth that grants an 8% guaranteed interest rate on a $30k deposit. In addition, you cannot withdraw 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

the actual saved funds during the lease/payment process without it affecting the amount of capital gained from the interest rate. 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

There are car loans for way less than 8%. Some are low enough that a decent savings account will beat them.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
