As a Californian, Newsom should take that 80 billion, use it to build affordable housing for everyone in the state, and his popularity will break through the stratosphere.

Given the property tax I have to pay, I'm not surprised.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't it be cool if facts mattered?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I told yall we not paying taxes no more. They firing everyone who is gonna care/collect/audit. So what they gonna do?

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sounds like all of California (all donor states) should take a day or two off, The passive loss of revenue due to reduced productivity could send quite a message.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please. Please do this. Blue states withholding funds will cripple the 47th Reich.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe a good time to consider an exit from the states

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the problem with the dem politicians - all talk no action. Grow a pair and do it!

As a Californian with depressingly huge taxes taken out of my check, I would like to see them used to feed, educate and care for people

9 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

They are! At least to a point. Did you know that California provides free breakfast and lunch to all TK-12 students?

Newsom should organize and fund a Federal tax protest for California until Trump is gone at the very least.

LA, NYC, Chicago and others should become city states and flip the Senate.

Math, business, science, logic, reasoning, history, social studies, art, physical education, language arts, reading, writing, and common sense are not his strong suit

Trump is also threatening to arrest Newsome because of this. Newsome filed to request an immediate decision... I haven't seen an update on the response and the decision, but it should have happened by now.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Donor blue states that aren't run by bootlickers (not really sure how many that is) should absolutely discuss withholding federal payments. I know a lot of people dislike Newsom, but is he going to find himself the inadvertant spearhead of revolution? If the coasts (and Illinois, I see you Chicago) hold back fed money, watch the cards fall.

9 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

He’s gonna turn this into a presidential run… the bar of entry for me lately, is um, not “the age of cognitive decline” would be nice, so I’ll take it

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Third coast 😎

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And by "the coasts" we mean CA, OR, WA on the west and NY, New England and maybe New Jersey. The rest of the east cost is solid red.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

DC put “No taxation w/o representation” on their plates several yrs ago, but yeah, south of the mason dixon appears red all day.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think a state's value is exlusively how much it donates to the Federal Government, but Trump keeps claiming to be a business man. If a CEO had 50 divisions, and one of them was making 80 billion for the company, that CEO would make sure not to throw a monkey wrench into that division. Instead, Trump is destroying major contributors to the CA economy, including trade, tourism, and the engine of innovation that the state University and Colleges provide. And for what?

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

His ego.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When are we seceding? California, Oregon, Washington could make Pacifica and we just leave out the Eastern portions with the dumb rural rednecks.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

All those state's water comes from their eastern halves. And that's where most farmland is.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

No I live in Oregon and it does not you are lying. Eastern Oregon is dry desert climate after you pass most of the mountains. Bull Run Watershed is near the mountains and has some of the cleanest water in the entire country.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great so California can get all their water from western Oregon. Easy peasy

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think the Sacramento San Joquain valley is much closer. Just admit you were wrong man and move on.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So sorry, I didn't realize that Sacramento and the central valley were on the west coast of California.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

California as well as many of the other blue states are effectively donor states. The majority of red states are the ones that are the leeches on the federal budget. Ive been saying/thinking this for a while. If they want to defund states just withhold paying into the fed govt. It's probably not that easy but at least can buff like they are.

9 months ago | Likes 268 Dislikes 3

Last I saw, I believe 9 of the top 10 moocher states are red.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Here in Oklahoma it's not unusual for the government to pay to built a new shopping center or giant campus for an oil company who regularly lays of people. I sweat their turnover rate would be illegal in most other places. And it's nearly impossible for those with disabilities to gain access to disability aid. The corruption here is absolute.

9 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I'm up in Oregon and we're a donor state... and there's only (I think) 5 counties out of 36 are donors. Yeah... I get real tired of the whiny takers complaining about how much they pay. Five of us counties carry everyone else at the state and federal level

9 months ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

The taxation in Lane country is absurd.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I believe, iirc, my state (Utah) is the only red state in the country that gives more than it gets. And thats largely due to the Mormon Church grifting so much money from its members and having almost total control of our government.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Texas is one, mostly due to oil industry iirc

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Texas likes to pretend it's a donor state but it's actually one of the biggest welfare states. The oil industry subsidies alone nearly exceed its tax input, and then it has a disproportionate amount of defense spending and federal manufacturing contracts.

I hope more people decide to stick together, than to give up on each other and let fascism win. We are stronger together. Divided we fall. Willfully giving up any territory to fascists is a losing choice. At the very least: ask yourself if you want bigbrotherfascistdaddyamerica to be the neighbour next door, because you rolled over and gave up. I'm done with this convo. Peace.

Will you take the whole northeast? New England, New York, New Jersey? Deep pockets, lots of tech, shared values. No oath to Chuck 3 though, okay?

NJ brings a world-class pharmaceutical sector and the best pizza outside of Italy. And we'll have the best beaches of the Greater White North.

Take Pennsylvania and Maryland too please.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

PA drivers aren't welcome. Canada will be over capacity of bad drivers with NY and MA.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to admit I haven't been to NY and MA. But surely they don't beat Montreal bad drivers?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both voted red, maybe just get out

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you're going to use that logic then Michigan wouldn't be included either despite being a blue State

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maryland voted red? The fuck you taking about? There's too many maga trash in all states, but Maryland voted mostly Democrat...

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blue States need to stop sending Federal withholding to DC and put it in their own state's coffers so we can provide healthcare for our citizens and stop funding Federal tyranny.

9 months ago | Likes 585 Dislikes 4

That is not a realistic solution.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's time for the New California Republic to rise

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@bippityboppitybuttsex for govna!

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Would be great if someone would just buy California from the USA or they just break up. Any country would accept California as a new state.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If Trump is going to shut down fema, department of ed, etc, claiming the states should do all that on their own, then yes!

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s what I’ve been saying.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or at least put them in escrow accounts. You know the way you do with your rent when your landlord refuses to fix the heat and isn't dealing with the building's roach problem.

9 months ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 1

and FEMA.

9 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We can create a new FEMA, with hookers and... and actual coverage... we can create a reinsurance for home-owners and renters for emergencies that comes to the rescue of other Blue states when disaster strikes.

9 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Makes sense to me. The reds are so anti-welfare; ok then, cut em off.

9 months ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 2

Trump is starting to do that by stupidity. Defunding fema and putting it under states control. He wants to do that with education and with medicare defunding rural red areas will suffer while blue populus areas will flourish. Its amazing how these new batch of republicans just shoot theirselves in the foot.

9 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They need dumb people who will vote for them

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If the federal government isn't going to pay the services their taxes go to, then stop paying the government and offer the services to the residents of CA.

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

NY IL funded USA 1900 to 1970s CA fund USA into Super Power 1940s to today. CA NY IL should DEMAND red states repay the trillions they sent to those states + 30% interest. don't just calculate today, the red states were built using NY IL CA money sent to dc then redistributed (SOCIALISM) to the red states. CA also paid GOP politicians salaries, medical, pensions for the last 100 years. https://www.gov.ca.gov/2025/04/23/california-is-now-the-4th-largest-economy-in-the-world/

9 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Yep... and now we have a Federal gov't we didn't vote for using that money to torment our neighbors.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is this like secession though? I’m done subsidizing the Red states, if they continue to vote for regression. If we collectively stop paying federal taxes🤔…

9 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

How?

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really don't see what California gets out of statehood anymore. These jackoffs are invading us, for Christ's sake!

9 months ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I mean, they probably still want to have territory.... I think they would be better off in a Confederation of Blue States

9 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I think a defacto confederation of blue states should have been pulling fired federal workers into their own clone orgs in preparation for either dissolution of the union or to merge back on top if reforms made things sane down the road. I don't think anyone put in the hard work when this was foreseeable to get that kind of thing off the ground early.

9 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No.

If we live, I will oppose reunification for the rest of my life... and if you want to immigrate from a Red State, you need to prove to me you didn't vote for Trump in 2024 (I was thinking 2020 and 2016, but a pass can be made for 2016, you can't say you knew... in 2020 you knew, in 2024 you were a white supremacist insurrectionist and have no business in our new Confederation)).

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We are under no obligation to accept apologies from these people

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope, ignorance in 2016 is not an excuse. I didn't know anything about Trump in 2016 until he announced he was running. It took a single week to figure it out. By the time I voted, there was no doubt what a disaster he would be.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hate to burst the bubble here, but the vast majority of the money CA contributes is via federal income taxes paid by individuals directly to the fed. CA isn't out here cutting a $680B check every year that they can just stop sending.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

All California needs to do is direct California companies to pay their withholding to the State of California, and then CA can hold it in escrow pending the removal of military force from California's streets.

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

CA can try to do that, but the fed is gonna consider anything other than paying them directly to be failure to pay with no consideration to what CA is holding in escrow. At the end of the day, regular people will be caught in the middle with both CA and the fed demanding the same payment. There just isn't a good way to use tax revenue as leverage. This is probably the entire reason taxes are collected this way to begin with.

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's not California companies who pay the income tax, it's California employees. Not the same thing. My employer is incorporated in Nevada and HQ (although virtual now) is in Florida. I live and work in California. My employer wouldn't send my federal taxes to California, California has no legal right to that money. If employers did send federal taxes anywhere other than to the federal government, then the employees would still be on the hook to pay the taxes to the federal government directly.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is literally companies sending withholding to the Federal gov't on your behalf... that is the whole point of withholding, you never got to see your money, the IRS got it first, that is why the US has such high tax compliance, you never had a chance to not pay your taxes.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You missed the point. The company being incorporated or located in California (aka a California company) doesn't matter. It's the location of the employee that matters. Employees working in California are the ones paying California taxes (or federal taxes from California), regardless of the location of their employer.
