I'm so sad.

Would you rather have a single soul of a human or a god? Cats are gods.

some allergies go away if your exposed to the element for long enough. I had a cat for 18 years and found out last year im allergic

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This happened with my landlord...so I got another dog instead!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably shoulda checked with roomies before starting the search, ya know, to start setting up history for a sleep walking *accident*

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 4

When the roommates tell you they're allergic v

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bringing an animal into a home is something you discuss with EVERYONE because EVERYONE will be living with it. Not just you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm allergic. It's the dander the cat makes when he grooms. The only way around this, or simplest way, is if the cat will accept a bath.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

You sound like a bad roommate

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

like that sucks but wouldnt that be the first thing you should ask?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My heart goes out to you :(

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Is this k in wintersprings?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Singular. I have severe cat allergies now I live in a house with seven cats and I'm not dying

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well that blows! Sorry.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you not check that beforehand?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

As someone who is severely allergic to cats, it's not like we do it on purpose. I would love to have a cat. I would also love to not die.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I was too, but I decided I'd be down to live on antihistamines so my husband could have one. My allergy disappeared within three days.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's hard replacing a roommate but cats gonna cat

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a sufferer, I'm sure they feel pretty bad :(

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yo this isn't sad, you're just dumb.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I normally don't advocate assassination, but...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have shitty roomates. One of them said no to pets because he "might be allergic". He's also the laziest and honestly, two faced.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But at least I asked before I even bothered. Now my cat has gone missing. wouldn't have happened if I had just brought my damn cat with me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I can afford it, I'm never living with roommates again. Burned twice. I'm just done.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would think getting a pet would be something you would discuss with your roommates before you are this far along.

8 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 4

Not when the whole world revolves around you.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

May I suggest Benadryl for your roommate

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 7

Benadryl is good to take at first contact, and it can help tone down the allergy, but it does fuck-all if you go into shock. Need Epi-pens

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

TIL cat allergies are more than the sniffles

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yeah

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Benadryl for most = getting zombified out for an entire day and miserable, but hey your allergies are toned down now!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Depending on the severity, Benadryl might not be enough. A coworker of mine is so allergic that she needs an Epi pen.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Aww :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of my biggest regrets in life is that I can't get my wife a cat because I am so allergic to them. Now getting shots to see if it helps.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

The allergy shots are usually really great at toning down/eradicating pet dander allergies! Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Just started in march. Right now all they do is make me a bit itchy. But in a few years I hope to see results.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My stepdad got them for 2-3 years and didn't even finish them and his pet allergies GREATLY reduced, lives with 4 furry animals and is good!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also know many people who are allergic to pets but actually adjust to their own pets dander in ~months, usually there's hope regardless!

Find new roommate

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

She legitimately just finished moving all of her stuff in today... she has a dog so I didn't think she was allergic to animals!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

On a serious note, that sucks.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"sorry, this isn't working out"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"The dog is cool though, he can stay."

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's always sad to see a roommate go.

Not when it's a dog person that lies about having allergies.

"Comes when called" kek

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Choking on tears. And severe laryngeal edema.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I disagree.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

I chuckled , sensibly. Accept this updoot. +1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have animal allergies but i love them so i take allergy pills everyday so i can look after my dog and bunny with no need for hospital!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

I'm jealous that works for you. The side effects of stronger medicines outweighs the discomforts of my allergies so much there's just no use

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks. It took a long time to find something that worked without making me wanna fall asleep at work. I still allergic to my bf though!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why I got rid of mine. Unlike my doggo, he ain't worth shit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol i managed to get stronger resistance!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Regular allergy meds do not work for me, and the ones that do are not covered by my insurance and cost over $100/month. ????

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh wow that's crazy! I do have to get mine by prescription for the stronger ones but it costs like £8 for a 2 month supply! Mind blown!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the American healthcare system.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kill the roommate

8 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 17

So, just go get the cat, then

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just get the cat... the issue may solve itself...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

I'm considering it...

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 13

Two birds, one stone...get the cat...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well get 2 cats...the 1 will contract the other.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Cat contracts. Business cats and such.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She's severely allergic right? Get the cat and let natural selection do its thing

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Don't worry much, just arm your cat

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe you should talk with your roommates before you go through the process.

8 years ago | Likes 459 Dislikes 9

Depends who has the rental agreement with the home owner imo.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 29

And ruin a perfectly good story....

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

That's what I was thinking. Should've cleared it with them first.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Thats what im sayin. Save yourself some heart ache.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

My roommate didn't do this... Lined up a cat before telling us. Now we have a kitten with a roommate who is also alergic.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I love animals and all, but I would never put up with that. Imagine living where you're always itchy, sneezy and covered in hives.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Maybe they're prone to impulse decisions as a household and this would've just been more of the same for them? Not saying it was smart to >

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

> not check first but in their standard life it may not have occured to them do so.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait I think that's the point. She takes to her roommates and now it's not happening. Am I missing something?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 15

She should have checked with them before actually lining up a cat.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

If OP is anything like my ex roommate, the "process" took an hour and the building has a no pets policy.

8 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 1

Yes all the contract was literally 2 emails while still in bed Friday morning

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Moved into a house with a girl that had kept a kitten in her dorm the previous year, though she saved it from certain death, it was feral.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yep. Even if it allergies weren't a issue it seems like common curiosity to ask before bringing a pet into a shared home

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

I'm always curious when pets are invovled.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dang. Ya got me

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She has a dog so I assumed she'd be fine with a cat

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 32

Even if you assumed there were no allergy issues maybe making sure they all are okay with having a cat in general would have been good.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

When we talked about my roommate bringing her dog in to live with us, we had a conversation about how we love animals and we're all excited

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I had dogs for a bit but cats broke me out into painful hives that covered me from the neck down.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's apparently what happens to her!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dog allergies and cat allergies are different beasts

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

This is why there's that saying about making assumptions.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Even more reason to consult them first. My husky would murder a cat.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Yea, why would you just assume the dog would be cool with another animal in the house? OP isn't ready for a pet.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I knew she had a dog. And I knew her dog was chill with other animals.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But did you know that he dog would be okay with another animal living in the house? There's a big difference there.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I just separated after 9 years with a woman who hates animals. Adopting a cat Monday so excited :D

8 years ago | Likes 157 Dislikes 5

Still not dating huh.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a difference between hate and allergic.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Make sure you splurge on a scratching post/tree, not a little crappy post. It's very.important for cats to have scratchy and high places

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kind or person hates animals?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish I could tell you. To her they were a chore.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Narcissist perhaps. Enjoy your new pet!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a coworker like that he's nice he just doesn't see the benefit of owning a pet. He's a little strange

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Hopefully I won't have to wait 9 years!

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Maybe, like, 9 cat years?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully not. She's moving out next month but I waited long enough xD

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How did you survive 9 years with someone who hates animals??

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

She probably gives bomb head. People do crazy stuff for bomb head.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thats what I'm thinking, that be a deal breaker for me

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Woefully

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I severely mistrust people who aren't kind and gentle to animals.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

you can be kind and gentle to animals and not like them.... i hate dogs but id never mistreat one

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Omg I thought I was the only one who doesn't like dogs (would also never mistreat). everyone I know is so dog obsessed.
