The mist sets in the jungle

The dense jungle with a stream in full flow, with the clouds rolling in and shrouding it in mist, is something that must be experienced.
Bhimashankar is indeed a beautiful place.

The small temple in the forest

Gives a whole new meaning to the poetry of Robert Frost! Do visit Bhimashankar if you're in this part of India. It's worth it. Monsoon and Winter, best times to visit.

The stream we crossed

OK the photography is terrible and I am embarrassed. But in my defense I forgot my poncho and I was shivering, And I was clicking with a cellphone.
Either way it was a small but strong stream, and it was an amazing experience.

The gurgling streams flow along my path. Serenity!

All photographs taken with my cell phone. Oh what a wonderful place. Unparalleled beauty, dense jungle and very few people on the nature trail!
But the major temple of Bhimashankar was crowded. If you go here, be sure to go early in the morning. The jungle is breathtaking.

The dark forest...

Bhimashankar, Sahyadri ranges, Western Ghats, India. Monsoon season.
Not great photography, I mean, it's tough to hold your phone straight when you're wet and cold!
But the jungle is astoundingly beautiful and serene. If you come to this side of India please do visit this gem of a place. It's a very simple and small hike.

Waterfalls in the jungle

Pity I didn't carry my camera, so all these are taken by the phone and slightly overexposed. Nevertheless, this was an amazing waterfall, gushing down white as milk. Add to that the rainforest all around and you have yourself a scene from heaven itself.

The origins of the Bhima river in Bhimashankar

This is where the river 'technically' originates: Near a small temple in the jungle. A few people turned up. Mist set in. Amazing place. If you're in this part of India make sure you go for the nature trails here and experience the jungles. There are about 4 trails. I explored only one. Yet.
Winter for the wildlife, monsoon for the jungle.

Jungles of Bhimashankar

Dense jungle, gushing waterfalls, monsoons in the early stages in India. Western Ghats (Sahyadri ranges).
Photos taken by cell phone.

Misty jungles of India

Photo clicked in Bhimashankar, Sahyadri ranges of Western Ghats, India. River is the Bhima river, at the origins. Monsoon season. The area is rich in various flora and fauna and is rainforest type vegetation.

That's pretty pretty
