When the time comes, you do the right thing.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My doggo and I are both lying down sharing a couch, he is sleeping and I am bubbling with tears after watching this. Sad thoughts but true

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Who the fuck is cutting onions?!?!?!

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The cruelest joke life ever played was giving our pets such short life spans.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Maybe you're just choosing the wrong pets.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Damn. I lost my rottie recently and this really hit hard.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Still the best deal man ever made.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck you

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If anybody wants to chop onions here’s (IMO) the best poem written about dogs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv-HDXzMVJ8

(1) Oh fuck you. I mean yeah it's true, & horrifically beautiful, but on my one break in a 12 hour shift that's really 14 as an RN and you

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Drop me to tears. Here's your damned upvote. I hope your heart fills with joy.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When your doggo goes beyond and crosses over the rainbow bridge they just get to wait for their owner to follow them.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yes, you do all of that BUT you also let them go a little too soon, rather than too late. They deserve that much, even if it hurts.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Wtf OP! I need to hug my dog now, and everyone else's dogs too.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that first fall.. right in the feels

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, it sucks when a pet dies but the whole choir in the background and sappy music is too much for me.

Hardest scene to watch

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This 'Old Salt' getting misty-eyed!! 'Blu' is getting there, shes 12.5 .........NOT looking forward!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Upvoting through the years. Damn you/thank you @OP

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I just had to put down my 14 y/o Australian Shepard two nights ago. Though absolutely true, this was extremely hard to watch right now....

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@OP, I'm not sure if condolences are in order, but if they are, I'm truly sorry for your loss.

4 years ago | Likes 208 Dislikes 3

Thank you but this is not my dog, it’s about dogs in general when they get old.

4 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

We said goodbye to our 14 yr old yellow lab on Sunday ...

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you, I wasn't sure. But I'm pretty sure that someone's cutting a whole lot of onions up in here!!!

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Don't make me cry please.

4 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 1

we love you, its ok

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too late for me ?

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's not even 7am here yet and I've already cried.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You don’t let them get quite that fat

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You sacrifice someone from PETA to get a couple of more years.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Oh man. I showed my man this and he hasn't stopped crying :( i realize bow that he feels terrible he wasn't there when his yellow lab died:(

For real. Just innocently scrolling this morning NOT looking to cry. On the plus side, my pups and I are sharing extra snuggles now

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love that I can always expect this image on certain posts. Its predictability has made it a favorite to use.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought this was going to be about getting him a doggy pram for walkies! I was about to go to sleep!

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same! @op I did not want to cry while drinking coffee this morning. Damnit

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine is getting there. Hips are blown and starting to fad a bit mentally but he is still happy and as long as he is I'll pamper him.

4 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 2

Very beautiful

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anipryl for the dementia and gabbapentin and rimadyl for pain ask vet.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our dogs hips got bad when she was old. Someone suggested we give her trace minerals. It was a miracle. She regained full movement and 1/

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Makes sense. People are encouraged to have a varied diet for nutritional reasons yet most people just give their dog the same food always

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lived another 4 or 5 years. My dad had brought her to the vet for that final rest and some random man in the waiting room suggested it.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Was there a particular brand you used? Asking for the absolute best of friends.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I found Cosequin Maximum Strength Plus MSM Chewables from Sam's and the difference is pretty huge. It is still rough but he gets around now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I don't know the brand. We just got it at the local pharmacy. It's 30 years ago though. I know a friend of mine had a similar result with 1/

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

their dog after I told them about it. With our dog, it was amazing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please tell me more, what are trace minerals. Curious to try for my aging cat.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Doot

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We just got them at the pharmacy in Denmark. But it's 30 years ago, so I can't give you much information.

Thank you so much and absolutely touching story!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank YOU. I'd hoped that would get some attention, but it went no where. I'm glad you read it and something came of it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And For the love of f**k, be there with them! I know of too many stories where the owners won't be in the room :/

4 years ago | Likes 526 Dislikes 5

Heck some won't show for human family. "Too difficult to see them go". Not doing it for us staying, it's done for those leaving.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was there, holding her paws. Even in the final moments she tried to lick my tears away.

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I held my dog while he died too. He was sick in my hair.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They'll look for you! Don't let their last thoughts be "Where's my human?"!

4 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 2

My cat went out purring with me rubbing his chin. It hurt to watch him go, but seeing him that happy in his final moments gave me closure.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is why we hired a vet to come to our house, my whole family was around him. We wrapped him in his favorite blanket too

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

When I was 17 my dad refused to let me go with him when they had to put down my aging dog. This was the dog they got me at 1 year old.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Took 30 seconds for mine to go from sitting uncomfortably to asleep and then gone. But I hugged him the whole time.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did that ONCE! And I STILL can't forget the look on his face, and still feel like shit about it after 20 years... Been with every other

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My mom didn’t even tell me my Spikey was being put down until after & said she just couldn’t be in the room?I still pray 4 his forgiveness ?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Those stories aren’t true. I’ve been doing this 24 years. Very few people can’t take the pain. Most of them are there, and we all cry. :(

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yes! People say “oh, it’s just too painful to watch”. Idiots. It’s not about you, it’s about the one that has given you so much love.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah. I was there for my car until very last moment and that's something that gives me more closure...

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

So much this. I could not imagine not being there for our cat’s last moments in this world

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Saddest thing for a dog to be left in a room with a stranger (vet) in its last moments, panicking and looking around the room for its owner

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They tried to make me leave my dog at the door in the first lockdown.. I never took it for an answer and went from vet to vet til I could.

4 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

Update: I rescued another one, he was negleected as a pub, has behavioural issues but he's getting on great.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Our vet came to my folks’ back garden during lockdown for our old collie. Very grateful to him for that.

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Mine set us up under their maple tree in the parking lot. We couldn't go in, so they all came out. It was less scary for my pup, who didn't

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

have to go in, she hated the vet's. So for her it was a nice ride, a snack, and a nice soft blanket to lay on..

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Yo this broke my heart. Hugging my girl extra hard right now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m glad for her and for you.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This was the same for us. June 2020. RIP Mia.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I agree, but should we really try to make people feel *more* like shit about one of their saddest memories?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are part of your life. You’re all of theirs.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This. It does not get easier if you are outside, but at least you wont regret having had the chance for last moments with your friend.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found out my mom was putting down my cat the day it happened. I'm so grateful my sister was there with him and am forever (1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

upset that I couldn't be. He used to wander around the house looking for me when I went away to college. (2/2)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From having read that meme on the internet

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*actually my wife is there, her specialty sees the worst cases, so first hand, yes, a fair amount of people choose to stay away

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 1/2 years ago. Dad, Mom and Me were there. Dad never cries. But he did that day. Our 16 year old Jack Russell got the sedative first (1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

than the final one. He began to whine with a quiet broken voice, he fought, like he always did. And than, silence. Worst experience... (2/2)

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I took my 17yr old cat in, he spent the whole time wrapped in his favourite blanket and they let me hold him for the whole thing. I couldn't

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

imagine it being any other way.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had to put my cat down a few weeks ago. What we though was diabetes was cancer. Held her for it and would do it again for my next one.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who worked at a vets for YEARS and that was one of my main jobs ( to euthanize)…please PLEASE stay with your dogs….

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Stayed with my Cat, hold His paw and told him there will be no pain on the other side. He let go imidiately. Still gratefull /

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and never thougt of anything else. My then (narcisist) GF tried to take my attention to her ("I can't be with you. It's to hard for me. /

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to leave!") All In said was "So what ever you wan't. I have to take care of my Boy. Can't be there for you rn." Still glad I /
