Cool recipes but what's up with the endless scrolling through ads and "Im a poor student" shit??? Seriously, make a point, deliver the goods

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gluten free? Not on my watch.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 12

The writer talks a fucking lot just for us to see the adverts, fuck it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I-I kind of want to make these, but I don't have any of these fancy ingredients..

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So glad to finally see some delicious vegan food on this site +1. Imgur users are real jerks to us

10 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 3

Yes, they are at times. But a very small percentage are vegans. They just don't show as much as the haters.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Yes, say something bad about eggs (as food) - "too much cholesterol" - and get downvoted to oblivion. I am not trying to convert people.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guess who I love! You!

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

That's the line that's ended the last 10 first dates you've had isn't it?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

did you know... you can eat things that are vegetarian/vegan... and NOT be one of those things? like damn.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But are they award-winning?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Vegan should answer that for you. They likely don't have the muscle mass to win anything.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

So many American products, so hard to find. Fml

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I just drooled

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

gonna try this :P

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You win this round, vegans.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love how most of these comments are hating on Vegans. So much for Vegans being the judgmental ones.

10 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 5

Here's what I don't get. Folks followed the links all "OH MAN THIS LOOKS GOOD" and flipped the table when they found out there was no dairy.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Exactly!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Only love beats butter.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

As a person who is vegan to avoid temptations like this, fuck you. +1

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

I have vegan friends and therefore no problem making vegan desserts but what the hell is wrong with baking? (1)

Not sure I understand your reply since you can absolutely bake e.g. cake with vegan ingedients.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm also pretty sure that the vegans I know appreciate cookies that don't look and feel like play-doh (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How can it be a bread if you haven't baked it?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So much vegan hate. Unless a vegan is actively calling you a monster, and handing you a PETA pamphlet, I say leave them be.

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I think that is the kind of "vegan" people have in mind when they say "fuck vegans". Like the "fuck feminists" thing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Precisely. Just like the Christians that say "fuck atheists" and atheists that say "fuck Christians". Don't judge by extremists!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For a second I was like, "oh another recipe comp that I can't eat" until I saw they were vegan. I'm egg and dairy intolerant. Thank you <3

10 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 4

Me too! Also, MSG :(

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I was vegan for years. What I really don't miss is hearing these same corny jokes and comments everyday.

Actually I'm a real person so I might not match up to the cliches you see thrown around on the Internet. Sick burn tho.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I'm genuinely curious: How do you un-vegan yourself? I feel like coming back from being vegan has got to be tough?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I recently started eating fish and eggs after 7 years of veganry. I had some intestinal discomfort, even slowly easing into it. It's not bad

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Not in my experience. Eating my first steak in years felt like a (good) drug. I don't eat a lot of meat, but I'm not squeamish about it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

delicious and healthy? thanks OP!

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

Found the vegan

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

What the hell is wrong with you assholes? Let people eat what they want in peace, jesus fuck.

10 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 10

Imgur is a super toxic community, it's to be expected.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

I don't really care until they ask me to cook *special* meat-free alternatives for them. As I am a chef, this happens a lot, unfortunately.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 32

LOL you are not a f***ng chef. Pretty sure that you even finish college.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I earned my title through blood, sweat, and tears. And yeah, I did complete culinary school, with honors. Fuck off

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Youre a chef, its your job to cook for people, that means making allowances for dietary requirements and preferences.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 6

Counterpoint: you shouldn't go to a fucking sushi/fish joint and expect them to make anything on the menu vegan for you.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Ive never encountered a sushi place that didnt offer vego options anyway.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

10/10 would still burn down kitchen like a sim.

10 years ago | Likes 294 Dislikes 2

then drown in the fire

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh you mean staring at the fire until you catch on fire and burn alive and then I need to sell the stupid tombstone?! YOU MEAN THAT?? Oh, ok

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pouring milk into cereal? THE COUNTER'S ON FIRE!

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

this seems appropriate

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Quick, everyone quit what you're doing, rush to the fire, and wave your arms over your head!

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Bonus points if you stand in the kitchen door way and block the fire fighters

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sometimes I miss how homicidal you could get with sims 1 and 2.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the best. Only time it gets annoying is when you didn't MEAN for a sim to die, they just did

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think eating vegan could help my pcos, but you can't really find vegan stuff in Mississippi. Sunflower seed butter? Coconut flour? Ha no.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

My suggestion is Brown Rice and Beans... You can mix it up, spice it up however you want. Many different beans, many different grains!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oats, Granola are also staples for me, and of course whatever fruit and veggies you ever want, don't forget B12 supplement, we love you lots

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But you can order it via internet? It is damn expensive though...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A lot of it can be ordered off amazon prime.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe this is helpful for you :D : http://www.msveg.com/ They will provide starting tips for you :) Also: all fruit, veggies, grains.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried Keto? I have PCOS and still managed to lose 60+ pounds. I'm just getting started again. Check out reddit.com/r/xxketo.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're the second person so suggest keto so I definitely need to look into it now lol. Thanks!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it up! If you have any questions or need any help figuring shit out, feel free to PM me. Obvs the reddit community (r/keto) is good, too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you really dont have to go for all that specialty stuff. You can find lots of vegan products right in your normal grocery store (:

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been vegan for about 5 yrs and i've never seen those. Regular peanut butter and wheat flour are vegan. You don't need to get all fancy.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It may not if the major factor in your PCOS is insulin resistance. Give keto some thought; it's easier to find keto-friendly foods.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've been a vegetarian since I was 4 years old so I can't do straight up keto. I've looked into veggie versions, I may give it a try.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait no. I'm an idiot. I confused keto with paleo.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmm...I'm not sure if you'd get enough nutrients and omega3 on veg keto unless you're ok with fish and eggs (dairy is iffy at best for PCOS)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love eggs and I take flaxseed oil.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never understood why its the popular thing to shit on vegans/vegetarians? Some people are lactose intolerant, or even have milk 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 5

http://thebigmansworld.com/2015/08/09/no-bake-banana-bread-bites/ Actually read that, and you'll understand.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL people cannot read. I never said I'm vegetarian. I said I eat mostly vegetarian and vegan dishes. Why? Because NO DAIRY.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Some* vegans put more effort into preaching how meat is murder than into following a vegan diet themselves, and people tend to hate them.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I'm lactose intolerant, and if I drink milk I get stomach cramps. But cheese causes me no issues. All a matter of the person in question.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

;-; cheese never used to cause me issues.... Now its all dairy. /cries forever

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's all a part of what we are..vegans shit on meat-eaters too. It's like this with everything in the world.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

allergies, so they prefer vegan dishes. I'm lactose intolerant, and I eat mostly vegetarian. I eat poultry and fish, but that's 2/?

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 3

about it. Never been a huge pork fan, and I never eat much for red meats or organ meats. I don't eat them much because of taste and 3/?

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

heart disease runs in the family...so was told by a nutritionist NOT to. I love being able to eat stuff like these desserts, and not 4/?

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

have to run, screaming, to the bathroom because it had dairy in it. :/ 5/5

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Its because of the militant veggies, who declare anyone who eats meat to be a murderer. We take offense to that and retaliate. You're fine.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

people will dislike vegans/vegetarians because most the ones you notice are loud and obnoxious self righteous and judgmental

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 16

Like crossfitters *shudders*

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I have seen more from the people bashing them, than from vegans themselves.

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

probably because vegans are a minority

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've known vegetarians of the extremely annoying type; it was tedious. I've also known vegetarians I didn't know they were until I asked.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same with that PC Master Race stuff.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

S-so vegan means I can eat them with no guilt, right? I can convince myself I'm eating healthy while devouring all this chocolate, right????

10 years ago | Likes 386 Dislikes 10

Yes but it also mean that after the first bite, you wont want to.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

The guilt is less than usual because you're only hurting yourself and nobody else

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yup.... At least that's what I told myself when I dabbled in Veganism xD

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do it

10 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

You won't.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

JUST. DO IT!

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Wrong kind of guilt, you'll still guilty of blood murder of your pallet.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

It's not chocolat it's carab

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but if you're a vegan it's not like you eat anything that's really all that bad for you anyway - surely?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are plenty vegan junk foods and you will not be healthy if you eat only french fries and Oreos. :>

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are Oreos vegan? TIL

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Question is : Is guilt of any use to you? Assume your desires before feeling guilty.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apperently.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if they are award winning ones.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Vegan means you should eat them with the most amount of guilt possible. You should be ashamed to have teeth capable of even consuming meat.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

How is it chocolate without milk Also, where'd you get the chocolate without slavery?

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 11

If you're in Europe, lidl for 35p (or less than €1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good dark chocolate doesn't have milk. Hawaii.

10 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

Straight answers for a change. +1

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

fairtrade?

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Look into what they allow in fair trade.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

so your point is, if we can't be perfect, then let's not do shit? that's real progress right there.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No. I never once looked down on slavery.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dark chocolate is produced by adding fat and sugar to cocoa. It is chocolate with no milk or much less than milk chocolate.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, that old vegan fat.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Yes, indeed: http://www.veganhealth.org/articles/fatstable

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Avacado is the only decent one there.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You had me at no-bake. You lost me at vegan

10 years ago | Likes 175 Dislikes 107

They had me at no-bake and sealed the deal with paleo/gluten free

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not a vegan here but it's probably delicious. They like food that tastes good too dont forget that. They also like some gross shit.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

If you don't eat anything that's vegan you probably have a pretty shitty diet

10 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 3

Ummm. Maybe pb&j but even when I have salad (fairly frequently) I use Cesar dressing which contains anchovy oil or something like that

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 24

So... you eat no fruit? You eat meat in the morning? No crackers or potato chips? French fries?

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Also I would argue there's a difference between something marketed as vegan and something that happens to be vegan.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I would beg to differ, many vegans get along fine without eating anything marked as vegan. Heck, the cuisines of some countries are vegan!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I eat fruit but generally as part of a meal. If we're counting parts then it's impossible to not eat "vegan"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

There was a study of two men who only ate meat for years, though, so maybe it's possible

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some people have milk allergies, crohn's disease, or even lactose intolerant. So vegan recipes can help avoid all that. :3

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And I have none of those :D. I'm sure there's plenty of good vegan food but when something markets itself as vegan it strikes me as douchey

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

So, you're hating just because.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No I'm hating based on experience with vegans

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

You don't know any vegan IRL. Sure of that.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oreos are also no bake. Don't know about vegan though, I hadn't thought to ask my oreo's lifestyle choices before I eat them.

10 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 13

technically they are vegan, but if you have a look to the company they belong to ... they got cruel things going on ...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Life is a cruel thing, generally. None of us ever manage to survive it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

still you can decide which side of the force to turn to

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are no sides. There is only the Force.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are in fact vegan.

10 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

but then they are produced by mondelez :(

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How are oreos not baked? They're crunchy biscuits, therefore they must have been baked.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

They're no-bake for me. Someone else baked them.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You can actually get crunchy biscuits w/o baking. Requires drying though.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but *I* don't have to bake them to enjoy them. Don't have to turn on the oven? No bake! Woo!

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Your reasoning is sound.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Accidentally vegan. I never liked oreos though.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Have you tried key lime oreos? So much better than regular ones.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never thought about them being vegan, but I can fit at least 5 in my mouth whilst crying, so there's that.

10 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

What a beautiful comment!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I once had an Oreo milkshake. There's a slight chance I will never feel that happy again.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes ! This is so true !! A coffee shop in (Old)Orléans makes them and it taste so great !

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just had it at Denny's in Las Vegas. Guess I gotta visit Orléans.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're vegan you don't deserve dessert. Go back to your leaves.

10 years ago | Likes 586 Dislikes 217

As someone who has serious issues eating dairy I get really excited when I hear vegan because it means it's also dairy free.

10 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 4

Show me on the doll. Where did the vegan touch you?

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 8

What the shit?! Why can´t you leave each other in peace? How can you hate millions of people based on their food choices??

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I also love your comment

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

I'm lactose intolerant. Anytime a recipe says vegan, I'm happy because I don't have to worry about my inside exploding from dairy.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

If you don't eat your meat how can you have any pudding?

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

This deserves to be the comment of the century.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

As a vegan and a *raw vegan*, one can eat fruits all day long. *Because they have to to keep calories up.*

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

"These all look terrible." "Oh, no bake AND vegan. Well then."

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

I actually chuckled. +1

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I'm getting a lot of hate for this lol

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It doesn't say the person who eats these is vegan. It's the FOOD the one that's vegan. (Plus the blogger seems to be omnivorous)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love your comment

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 19

Backwards logic. Vegans leave more tasty animals for me at a lower cost. It's why I encourage homosexuality among men.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

That.... actually makes sense

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

vegans deserve every dessert they can have. for one, their carbon footprint is much smaller, and for 2, they boycott a messed up industry.

10 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 20

I'm not even vegan and I get pissed off when people talk shit on vegans. I wish I had that self-control!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, thank you +1

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

This is so harsh. hahahahaha

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

My argument against vegans is while they're saying eating meat is cruel and unnatural, take a look at biology. Our bodies have evolved...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 16

...to be able to eat both plants and animals. We're called omnivores for a reason. So get off your high horse and just eat a steak.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 18

Then explain why Oreos are vegan!

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

The only thing in Oreos that aren't vegan is some milk products. It's basically sugar, oil, and flour.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

There's no milk products in original and double-stuffed Oreos, the filling is mostly palm oil and powdered sugar and the cookies have soy.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I stand corrected.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you saying they should.. leaf? like leaves but.. leaf..

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Why don't you make like a tree and fuck off.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Make like a tree and leaf.... hehehehehehe

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who else but Satan would explain a mediocre joke? +1

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Typical satan

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can vegans swallow, like wouldn't that be like eating a billion babies at once, like some vegan atrocity

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 20

This is the best question about a vegan EVER! Sadly I am not one so I cannot answer. hahahaha +1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You're mistaking vegans for Catholics.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Gains consent of the person who said ejaculate belongs to first? Vegan. Source: I'm a level seven vegan

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

You don't eat anything that casts a shadow?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The sperm themselves cannot give consent, otherwise it would be okay to eat meat because breeders say it's okay

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Did your girlfriend cheated on you with a vegan?

10 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 20

Oh the grammar, it burns!!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Why would a girl leave for someone who doesn't like tuna?

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 13

Iono...people feel wierded out aroiund vegetarians/vegans....like they need to defend their life styles....

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

It's god damn unnatural

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Pretty sure that having your own semen in your hand is not gonna give you any kids, but still...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I feel a "wooooosh" is in order.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I want to hate your comment (because I'm trying to be vegetarian) but I can't. It's just too good!

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 28

Vegetarians are cool. It's the Vegans that are evil! EVIL I TELL YA! Yarrrr.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

I never claimed to be otherwise.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may not understand the vegetarian fad, but I respect it. I don't respect vegans who preach with crossfit-like zeal.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

Yeah, I agree with @OHmymischief It's a change of behavior. I'm doing it for health and moral reasons. I'm ok with hunting 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and eating your own food. Not mass producing and hurting animals. I agree with you as well, don't shove your livelihood onto others. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The funniest part about this whole thing is that after this I watched a movie on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead", where the host

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fad? Visit India, my friend...eating meat is a fad over there.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only because of their religion. "Hey why don't you guys like ever have steak?" "'Cause we fucking worship cows." Yeah not very sound logic

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

As a Hindu who eats, and loves, a good steak, I agree that the logic isn't sound. It has to do with the concept of Ahimsa (compassion).

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, I know a lot of people who eat a plant-based diet. I've never met one who "preached." That seems to only exist on the internet.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it's not a fad, it's a matter of principles... like, not buying clothes from a sweat shop. is that a fad? I hope not.

I'd say that it CAN be a fad. It depends on why you're doing it. Is it to protect the poor animals? Then yeah, it's a fad.
