Owner comes out of his office and tells everyone to quit for the day and that we have a meeting to attend. All of us expected it to be a bitch session, turns out to be much better. The owner goes on to say how much he appreciates the hours we've been putting in and the last machine we built blew away the customers and gives us all a shot and the rest of the day off with pay.

Leader vs Boss

That's a good boss.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Super owner, there are not as many of them as there should be.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A pat on the back goes alot further than a kick in the ass

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Alcohol, driving home, what's the worst that could happen. ^.^

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad to see your owner let you off the field for an hour

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool but what is it that you do?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: he's his own boss

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow! You lucky SOB!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"last machine we built blew away the customers" Plot twist: they build jet engines.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably needed an empty office early to dispose of the bodys.....

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cool boss...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My boss made us waste 15 minutes taking a panoramic picture where it looked like there were 2 of each of us. He's a dick.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's awesome. Props!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait, is "blew away the costumers" a good thing?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blew the customer away eh? Bet I know where Op works https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qwn912HWem8

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Should be a good guy Greg meme

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Or a blue red penguin emphasizing how he thought it was gonna be a bitch fest and turned into awesomeness.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Or the good guy boss

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Right that's it everybody stop what you're doing, conference room now 5 minutes"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you build, @Unsupervisedadult?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Large printing machines and paper slitters heres a video of a machine we built https://youtu.be/fqudDWyi4_c

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have friends and relatives who work in related industries. Ever hear of Papertech.ca?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now that everyone is intoxicated, you guys have no choice but to stay and work late because you cannot operate your vehicles!! Perfect plan

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Do people normally get intoxicated off one shot of moonshine? Serious question, I don't drink alcohol.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, it'll definitely make them pop hot off a breathalyzer, so it'll definitely count as a DUI

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Moonshine is strong, so I would think yes. But I drink a lot so I wouldn't know about the average person.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

legit taxed shine won't fuck you, illegal stuff will

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is moonshine that common in the states? Seems a lot of people have access to it. Or lots of Imgurians are southern...

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Had a friend of a friend show up at a party with a laundry basket of assorted bottles of moonshine. All flavors and varieties! STRONG AF THO

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im in Virginia at the moment but grew up in the hills of upstate NY and could find it easily then. I think its a rural thing

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Rural people like it, and a few different states have changed laws so it can be publicly sold.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got some friends in my podunk hometown that make it from scratch. I think it's illegal though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in Michigan, grocery/liquor stores sell lots of alcohol labeled moonshine in both flavored and unflavored varieties, usually 40-50% ABV

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it homebrew or is moonshine like a type of spirit? I'm English and the government don't really hold with making your own liquor.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just a mass produced moonshine-like spirit. Selling 'true' moonshine is illegal here but I think it's legal to make in some areas

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Legal to make for home use in many areas in the states just not "tax free sale"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is illegal, but people in rural areas, (the South) do it. Grocery store moonshine not the real stuff.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They sell it in grocery stores. They usually keep the alcohol level the same as others (40%), but I know a place that sells Everclear (95%).

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everclear is banned in Massachusetts.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Here in California too. The place that sells it is a liquor store in a really bad area that I commute through. Not many pop-in inspections.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup Mr Boston's sure tastes like it though

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easy to find here in Tennessee

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now that's how you run a business.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Drunk?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

A single shot isn't going to make you drunk. It was also a reward for a job well done, I doubt it's a daily occurrence.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People quit bisses, not jobs. This boss clearly understands that. I want a boss like that.

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

Damn straight

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Damn bisses, ruining everything.

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Fuck my life dude. I hate this goddamn phone. What the fuck is a biss? Why would it autocorrect to that?

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I just imagined you hitting i by accident haha.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, typing it out again it tried to autocorrect it. It also corrects "if" to "of" and vice versa whenever the fuck it wants too.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That's awesome to hear! What do you guys do @op?

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

We manufacture big ass printing presses and paper slitters

9 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 0

Marvelous. If you'd told me 20 years ago that we'd have machines that can print asses...

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Where do I sign up

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is a paper slittler like a shredder? I legit don't know

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heres a video of one we built https://youtu.be/fqudDWyi4_c

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aaaah I see, so it basically takes one wide sheet and makes it into multiple thinner sheets

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

More or less. I think its normally done after printing but I don't really know. I just machine the parts for it lol

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Update: we have free run to stay and work on any personal work or side jobs we have

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Y'know, with your username, I'm not so sure that's a good idea.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A southern co-worker of mine brought some peach moon shine into my work too, that was the smoothest most lovely booze.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also work for a semi-small company that is managed very well. It's currently beer O'clock and I am partaking.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Where do you work and are they hiring

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Jokes on him my current personal side project is to streamline my automated computer deployments.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep working for these people. They know how to business, without turning into Trump.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Maybe shoulda done that pre-moonshine.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He hiring?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice boss. You're lucky. I've tried small business but here everyone thinks they gave the absolute truth. Now I'm a # in a big it Corp.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Sorry, what do you mean by "here everyone thinks they gave the absolute truth"?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Sorry, I mean that they think they have the absolute truth. :) it made more sens like that.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

THIS is how you run a small business. None of that "No, we can't afford healthcare or personal days" bullshit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Build "Some kind of death machine"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We do that every Monday afternoon. Hundreds of it job openings, paid relocating.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Peach. Fucking. Brandy. I like your boss

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sure if that's a good idea after the moonshine but I'm not sure what kind of work you're doing so... cool, maybe?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One shot, I think they will live.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: company's going under, boss doesn't know how to tell employees.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hopefully not operating any heavy equipment/cutting tools under the influence of alcohol!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What state are you in? Just curious how common peach moonshine is

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Midwest has a few large sellers of moonshine. It's all shit though. I like my uncles home brew 10000 better. Buddy Mike makes a good 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apple pie moonshine. That stuff is awesome. Even use it as fire starter

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's sold on East coast too. Neat

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Solid man. Smart management

9 years ago | Likes 430 Dislikes 0

He's a great boss and a nice guy. He knows how to motivate us that's for sure

9 years ago | Likes 279 Dislikes 0

This is something so many employers don't seem to get. Maintaining morale is SO simple!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It all begins with trust, and that's not easy to maintain.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And from the sounds of it a good boss knows when to give shit and how to deliver it.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Does he know when to make the tough calls, like letting someone go for a bad job?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes he does. But its a really small operation and we all carry our weight. And get along. We have simular hobbies and interests

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That's awesome. It makes me happy to know you enjoy your work and coworkers!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Do you currently hire? I'm a Neuroscientist with a masters degree who doesn't get paid much (barely 39K before tax...) please hire me!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Shit bruh I'm a tradesman making double that

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

/5 Not these stupid actors and sports stars.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

/2 (glorified painter) with no college experience/ college debt and started out at over 40k. And with Trumps' apparent hatred for the

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

/3 sciences and science funding, it will just continue to get worse. You should be rewarded for your hard work and knowledge. But why

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

/4 invest in tomorrow when you can build a wall today? Makes me sick. Scientists should make the big bucks for actually improving humanity.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

/1 This is what is wrong here in America. Hard work and much schooling doesn't necessarily equal good pay. I am a cabinet refinisher

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

1/ I recently found that I was able to engineer cells and program them to attack cancer cells and kill them. But my name will never appear

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/ and I'lll keep getting paid 39K after putting all that money/effort to build my future. I'll keep helping making other people rich.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kind of machine did you guys build?

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

A machine that forces other people to do what you think they should do.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its a paper slitter like this one https://youtu.be/fqudDWyi4_c

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

It must be so satisfying to break apart those rolls with that mallet. Hngh.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats on the tight slits

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

So it makes raffle ticket rolls?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Apologies for my ignorance, but what are the slit rolls used for? Seems like a big deal to use that much.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I know one machine we made printed and slit popcorn bags. Specifically orville whatever it is.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I don't know what they are used for. I just machine all the parts for the slitters. Other than testing I've never seen what they're for

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

that was cool to watch. :D

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do state contracts, and we just bought one of those for $140k, that's crazy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do you design and build them? how long does it take? you know, you should make a post about you work, i think i'd be very interesting...

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We also make multicolored printers that are amazing. I don't know how much I can really post about the manufacturing process

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Every machine is custom designed and manufactured in house and they take roughly 6 months to build and that one sold for about 210k

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You don't do any business with paper mill located in central Pennsylvania do you?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't have any idea to be honest

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's awesome! I can use that at my job every day!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was actually a fascinating video, I watched the whole thing. The inflatable cuff is the most ingenious part of the design imo.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's more machines on their youtube channel. The video doesn't do the speeds justice. 2200 ft per minute is ridiculously fast

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
