I left the sound in, but it's not entirely necessary to enjoy this display of rebellious intelligence.

Good. I’m getting sick of humans acting like the whole world is ours.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

The amount of stupidity of whoever put those there, thinking that there's no need to fix them onto the wal/ledge in any way, is just amazing.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Birds smarter then the human that put them there

What are they held on with? Playdough?

Crows would have made a more fun civilization than us monkeys. Plus there would never be traffic jams. Change my mind.

Fun fact: some crows have started using these anti-bird spike strips to build their own nests with, thereby using them to discourage other, less intelligent birds from getting too close. Plus, the strips interlock really well with branches, making for a very sturdy nest structure.

2 years ago | Likes 566 Dislikes 1

I like that one that that pigeon built in nest out of these things. Task has successfully failed

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

god i love crows

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'd laugh if the corvids began dropping them in the parking lot for city vehicles.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Spike strips are almost always misused by whoever is installing them. Studies have shown they're effective, but only at keeping birds away from areas where they loaf or roost. If they build nests in that area, they will build it right on top of the spikes. People also install them with glue when they're specifically meant to be installed with screws. Spikes can be a cheap and effective alternative to exclusion, but only if they're done right.

Crows are fucking smart

Is it strange that I love how smart those birbs are?

That's... not what I thought by what Steve said. I was thinking they were doing things like dropping twigs and what not onto the traps and building on top of them.

Corvids. Never fuck with corvids.

2 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

I made friends with the ones at my work. When I am inside, people tell me sometimes they will play on the roof of my car. I also leave out peanuts for them. :)

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Exactly!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're smart enough to both remember faces and communicate that information to other corvids

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

That's the freaky part. Crows can teach other crows *who never saw you* what you look like well enough to make a match. Bruh, i can't even reliably do that to other humans...

THE COUNSEL HAS SPOKEN

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I never really understood why they make buildings with those spots anyway. All it will do is collect crap on top, and then when it gets windy, it will blow that crap into the faces of people below walking around. Or is that the whole point?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It DOESN'T collect crap, is the point. Some buildings that have spots for perching birds get absolutely covered by layers of bird poop. That being said, we're in their space... give 'em a poop ledge, who cares

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I said "crap" I meant "random stuff" bot actual bird poop. When ever it rains or storms, stuff will pile up there, then when its extra dry it will flake and fly off during winds. The only thing those spots need is a SLOPE, I dont undertand why the y make them flat when there is zero point doing so.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oooh I thought you meant the bird poop.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, I had a house with a balcony for example, and never went on it because it was a bit dangerous (old wooden floor slats with gaps) , and I kept forgetting that dirt would pile there and was reminded about dirt whenever I walked through the door when it was raining (under the balcony) when water dripping through the slats dropped dirt encrusted water on my clothes. Fucking dirt/dust builds up everywhere its fucking annoying.

We're going to need a bigger and stronger crow for those.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

At least a 3 feet high crow I'd imagine. That would be a sight.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't understand how they get these passed. Even allowing for their outright hate for those less fortunate, these would absolutely shred anyone in a car, motorcycle, or bicycle accident.

2 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 1

Or horse.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, hate against the homeless aside, this just plain aint safe. So endanger traffic to harass some homeless? Wtf?

2 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Ugly as fuck too. Just disgusting to look at and know some clown in charge is smug about it

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Maybe you should run for zoning board.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Because the people who want them are relentless about it and the people who don't want them are largely apathetic. People are already burnt out on national-level politics, meaning they barely have any bandwidth to even care about local-level politics which have a much more direct effect on their day to day.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Because safety isn't really a priority, cruelty is the point to maintain control of people, not trying to protect people.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

That and the outdated idea that homeless people are lazy and not unfortunate, that if you can't afford a home you're just not working hard enough. The whole "bootstraps" BS. And if you're not "willing" to be a part of the society they want, then they don't want you in the city, like a larger scale HOA

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Would make for a good rollerskate/blade obstacle course tho

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In a video game maybe!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Small local governments don't have the funding to actually solve homelessness. Unfortunately for everyone, they do have enough money to force the problem to move somewhere else.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Well said.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

These measures actually cost more than just housing people would, they could quite literally just use this money, they just don't want to. This is entirely a "the cruelty is the point" situation.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I want to see a quick napkin math breakdown of why You think it is less expensive for podink, nowhere to house Some number of homeless people indefinitely; compared to the one time installation cost for anti homelessness spikes.
