Being in the military, this is the shit that pisses me off. One is a choice while the other is a terrible, terrible misfortune. No one asks to have limbs blown off or for PTSD. I just want to know what goes through people minds when they say things like this. Any comments?

Yes it is dumb but having gender dysphoria isn't a choice either.

Many people would say that transgender folks have as much of a choice as the guy with the blown off leg.

sounds like a very poorly worded way of saying that they dont support our military being in places that legs can be blown off. or just rage.

As a veteran I don't care if they join, just no expensive "reassignments" should be permitted. They get a GI bill like the rest of us.

Although I don't get why you don't just let trans people to serve and not pay for their stuff, (sorts who really wants to serve), this is

So fucked up to say. Anyone who serves and comes back with visible or nonvisible wounds deserves more than we can give them. Fuck this lady.

I'm not trans, so I don't begin to understand. Logically though, military shouldn't pay for the operations/hormone therapy. Not with tax $.

what if we offered the option of school, or elective surgery. The cost is about the same. They have to do the 4 years and then stop...

while they transition, then they could come back when they can pass pc, and are combat ready again.

Just a speculation, wouldn't that start an outrage? Get educated or be who you are. Choose!

In this day and age, probably. I was just thinking if it was just a cost issue, then lets look at the numbers logically. you know.
