shocked?! not at all...

Seemed like a short time plan anyway...

I'm american, so, I don't know if my observation matters.. but, if they had been commited, they would have converted to the Euro a while back instead of keeping the pound... I think it shows they were never fully on board...

Now, Germany can leave, and the smaller countries who have been leaning on the power trio for support will kinda just crumble... if you have Euros, trade them in FAST...

Thats an interesting version. could be that those countries will also begin to thrive, if they're stable at all.

We had a thing with the pound and a special status within the EU which we will never get back

Yeah I think the catch now will be if the UK ever returns to EU it will not have much bargaining power for entry.

I don't see why the change of currency matters. Here in Sweden we had a vote for it, and most of us didn't want to change to €.

Currency matters a lot. And a national currency tanking means the country using it struggles.

Currency matters huge. A monetary union puts monetary policy in the hands of the EU, which is a terrible, terrible thing.

Yeah I agree, but I think OPs reasoning is stupid. Just because they kept the pound doesn't mean they weren't fully on board.

"the smaller countries who have been leaning on the power trio for support will kinda just crumble" That isn't a good thing.

It wasn't intended as a "good thing" comment... just, kind of inevitable. ..

Aww shit, will countries actually have to get their economy together now?

GLOBAL ECONOMY is a thing. You do realize that right???

So what is your point? EU did not invent the market or trading. That is a thing that will keep going regardless of the EU.

A country's duty is to its own citizens first.

That's like sawing apart the larger boat everyone is in to build your own boat. You might make it, but you take a huge risk & drown others.
