Marina and the Diamonds

An odd sound, but some very catchy songs.

I recommend trying: I Am Not A Robot, Oh No!, Shampain, Lonely Hearts Club and Sex Yeah.

Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Marinaandthediamonds

Phox

A small band from Baraboo, Wisconsin they have a very laid-back sound, and very relaxing songs.

I recommend trying Slow Motion, it's very nice.

Lana Del Rey

Lana has a very 50's vibe about some of her songs, and a beautiful voice.

I recommend trying: Off To The Races, Video Games, Carmen, Radio and Young and Beautiful.

Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/LanaDelRey

Melanie Martinez

Combine a sweet voice with some dark issues, and you basically have a Melanie Martinez song.

I recommend trying: Pacify Her, Teddy Bear, Training Wheels, Cry Baby and Play Date.

Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Melmartinezx3

Halsey

Electronic instrumentals mixed with some racy lyrics form most of Halsey's music, which works surprisingly well.

I recommend trying: Empty Gold, Ghost, Hurricane, Is There Somewhere, and Strange Love.

Marinas song "I am not a robot" is very good. Not to be confused with the tv "Mr robot" which is also very good.

I want a violin and piano rendition of 'Young and Beautiful' by del Ray played when I walk down the aisle. I don't give a shit if it's "too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

sombre" it's my stupid wedding.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People still play "Every Breath You Take" at weddings, which is about a stalker. Play whatever you want.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Enjoy the upboat, sir!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nick Cave is cool too!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And if anyone likes Marina's I'm not a robot, check out Hoodie Allen, he did a few covers of her songs.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hoodie Allen is a doucher that left a charity concert I helped organize without performing and took off with the $$. He was shiftfaced.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(2/2) we even offered to have him not perform and just sign autographs but he refused and went back to his prepaid hotel and drank some more

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? Wow that sucks. I still relate to artists through their music because I have never met one irl. I judge their music, not the artists

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I try to but speaking only personally, I guess I don't find him talented enough to see past it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

pretty sure everyone here has heard of Del Ray.... but i'll check the rest too

9 years ago | Likes 315 Dislikes 2

Not me, but I shun all pop music and pop culture in general, including these "artists" (women who have songs written for them)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Banks, is good alternative to del Ray.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Who?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Melanie Martinez and Halsey are my favorite.

Regina Spektor - Best known for the intro to Orange is the New Black but has been around for a while and has a varied and eclectic sound.

9 years ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 3

Samson is my favorite song! So sad and sweet.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Reading ''Regina spektor'' sent me to the 2005

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I can't listen to On the Radio without crying for some reason.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Life inside the music box ain't easy...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Regina is my musical soulmate. When I listen to her I feel like every song was written just for me. She's incredible!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I absolutely loathe that intro song. Don't think I'll be looking her up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To each his own

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ah shit I forgot about her. Thanks for the reminder. I'll be loading her up on spotify for the ride home for work.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, I love her!! It's rare that I like EVERY song on an artist's discography.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good one! The first time i heard her was on 500 days of summer. I've loved her voice since then.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thanks, been a fan since her 2006 album "Begin to Hope". Got the chance to see her live in Nashville, it was an awesome performance.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

https://youtu.be/TZZHaVIxUfA "Fidelity" was my first sound of hers. I still find myself singing the lyrics.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same here. Saw the music video and had to hear more.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

God I spent my teenage years listening to her. I highly recommend apres moi, pound of flesh and prisoners. She's so talented!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"For a while". I remeber talking about her with my acquaintances teenage sister 10 years ago.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Yeah, first major release was 2004 I think.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But she had so much more before Begin to Hope! Regardless, she's amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was referring to Soviet Kitsch, but yeah, she did have stuff out before that even. I'm glad a lot of other people on here like her too.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

71 upvotes is not enough for her! Haha I hope she gains the popularity, even if everyone else is late to the party. I also want a new album.
