I have had medium rare chicken in Japan. Horrifying to look at, but tastes great. I also would never, ever eat it in any other country.

Have had chicken tartare. Still alive.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

I got food poisoning twice in 2 months. Just looking at this brings back horrible flashbacks.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably safe but not goin in these guts baby.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The inside of a breast is unlikely to have been infected with bacteria

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I always like to check on the first date....Just to be sure.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

fun fact, according to some food scientist on twitter last time this showed up, 98% of the bacteria is on the skin. still a bad idea though.

Just thinking about the texture of undercooked chicken makes me want to throw up

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 8

So Slimey

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

i brine breasts, if you dont overcook them sometimes they have an almost raw texture, you can feel every muscle fiber you bite thru, ick

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

you haven't had chicken if you haven't had raw chicken

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

in the biblical sense?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I was once served Chicken Sashimi. If you have a local Farm that sells chicken and can guarantee it's safe it's actually pretty darn good.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Cutting/holding raw chicken gives me the willies. I can't imagine eating it raw ;-;. More power to you friend.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Yup, have had a couple times. Not bad.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I can stomach almost anything but the texture of raw chicken makes me gag. I can't imagine that tasting good

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Yeah but that's also pretty personal. Like I gag whenever I eat Jell-o but some people like it as a desert. Different strokes I guess.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Isnt rare chicken a thing in Japan?

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

But that's also "killed literally 5 seconds ago in the back of the store" chicken.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yup, raw chicken is pretty dope. Raw eggs, beef, horse, is all fairly good here.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really hope these people are all joking...if not, they will learn real fast why medium rare chicken is not a thing.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Mmmmm with extra salmonella

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish Salmonella was guranteed fatal in cases like this.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Usually how my chicken turns out :( then I get frustrated and just end up microwaving the shit out of it. I suck.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

This hurts my stomach

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Natural selection: it's a thing

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

It's Salmonella not polio.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I love how all the names of the people who posted the pictures are blurred out...criminals.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like the guy that knows about salmonella best

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Enjur yur salmonellur!

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 9

Seriously, why can you eat beef medium rare and all that and not chicken? Is it because chickens are closely packed in one area? Disease?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I feel like i'm being punk'd...

8 years ago | Likes 410 Dislikes 15

I know right?!? They're calling all of that medium rare when most of them are rare/very rare/seared!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

right? this isn't dumb this is extra dumb

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

At first I thought it was a joke, but there are enough of that at least one is real.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Feels like one of those 4chan pranks to get people to do or believe in dumb shit.

8 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 1

Makes sense... but that one with the salmonella tags...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is only because certain countries' health standards can't support clean farmed chicken. You can, for example, eat raw chicken in Japan

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 8

This is true. I got downvoted for trying to say this too.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

You can KIND OF make chicken medium rare. With sous vide. Chicken is possible to cook as low as 55 degrees C* which is basically cooked rare

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 3

But it's still all cooked, isn't it? As in NOT RAW. It just takes longer.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

*Need to cook for several hours

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

45 mins, if the middle is the right temp then it's already done

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure the point of Sous Vide is to cook at low temps that take a while to kill off germs. So no, not instantly done when temp is right

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Salmonella won't be on the inside of the breast so when it is at temp the outside will have been at temp long enough. Do you cook sous vide?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not it isn't, sous vide let's you raise the temp without overlooking the meat, and tenderising over long times

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please tell me people aren't that stupid....

8 years ago | Likes 373 Dislikes 16

JUST A PRANK, BRUH.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

I feel like a couple of these might be jokes.. Like they didn't realize ir wasnt done all the way through and just made a joke of it. I hope

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It was my thought as well.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could... but I would be lying to you

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Trump is president.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

hi, have you met people?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

They are, case in point: PRESIDENT Trump.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 7

I really wish I could, mate...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Sorry, people are that stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 12

Flat Earthers...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

USA, USA, USA, USA !

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Cooking chicken until total done-ness is a fairly American habit, I've been told.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Ireland is known for boiling the shit outta our food but I've never heard of anyone not cooking chicken all the way through...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

German here - I've never seen chicken not totally done. We value our life, too.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

It is and a few other places too. But they eat it in varying degrees in many countries. Japan, Denmark, and France to name a few. They 1

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

process and raise their chickens better in those countries and therefore have chickens salmonella free.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Salmonella usually isn't deadly, unless of course your immune system is weak. (aka. old, young, sick...)

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yeah but it sure would ruin your day.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep but that's a survivable learning experience. If they continue doing it, it's probably because they aren't getting sick.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It works for the greater good if they are, gotta clean the gene pool somehow...

8 years ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 9

The greater good.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Some sort of large gene pool filter, like those robots to clean the scum. Except it kills people.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are, about 25% of the population is essentially semi functionally retarded(I mean actual special needs).

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

0.15%, actually. Mental retardation is IQ 70 or lower, that's three standard deviations. Might be higher because of illnesses, brain damage,

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and genetic disorders, but nowhere near 25%. 16% are below 90, though, which is the treshold for special education needs in Germany.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At 16% thats 56mil in america... trump got 60mil votes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And those 56 millions include kids, non-citizens, felons without the right to vote, and others who could or did not vote at all.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time to acknowledge that people can be ignorant and incompetent at evaluating presidential candidates without actually being retarded.

To give you perspective, bottled water sales in the US in 2016 was over $16,000,000,000.00 ($16B). Much of the water sold was tap water.

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 17

Same in UK ! Tap water is shit here ! Never bay cheap still water from the supermarkets! Bay good cuality one! If not tap water to be

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My last place had gross water.. I did a cost analysis based on price, time, and effort and found that bottled water was the way to go for me

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

yea, but i cant connect my car to the watermain. that said, those bottles are for giving away/emergencies/when i forget my refillable.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How much of that was sold in Flint, Michigan?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Flint likes heavy metal in both their music & their drinking water.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Agreed. But at $2 for 35 bottles, it's a convenience factor for me. Time allocation....

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

Many places beer is cheaper per oz than bottled water. Restaurants love the idea of charging for something they used to simply give away.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

While not strictly illegal to deny free water, water is considered a medical fluid, and can cause a business a lot of issues.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it really longer to fill a bottle at the tap? Takes about 5 seconds.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 7

But where are taps when you're on the road for multiple days at a time? Especially if you can't stand either city water or well water?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

Have one of those coolers with a spigot??

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Then fill up 35 bottles before you leave. Result is the same.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 13

Yes. I make more money and better time management on the PC vs filling water.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fair enough.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can fill 35 bottles in 5 seconds? That is some crazy ass water pressure

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"a bottle"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The threat of salmonella mostly comes from eating commercial chickens that are kept in cramped cages shitting on each other. A free range 1

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 7

chicken that is raised and processed by you or someone who cares for their chickens is going to have a significantly lower chance of 2

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 6

you. Not that this addresses the weirdness involved in the texture. I don't like it but I have a friend that raises his own and prefers it.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

Please provide sources for this information.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

None, other than experience. You could google it if you like. Commercial chicken bad. Individual/small scale chicken good.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

The burden of proof is not on the reader, it's on the writer. Show facts/sources and you are credible. Rely on anecdotes and you are not.
