Mmm.. corduroy. Unbroken pow is best, but if you can't get that corduroy's not bad.

I'm assuming this is artificial. I'm curious why the equipment does that, though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because like most equipment, it is designed to.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yes, but why have it do this?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would guess this pattern does the best to provide a smooth slope for the greatest length of time as it wears down from skier traffic.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's crazy how nature do that.

8 years ago | Likes 205 Dislikes 3

Nature made apes, metals and oil. Put them together and badabing badaboom: magic snowstripes

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

But it do

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

People don't think it be like it is.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But it do -Black science man

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

snowmius serrateus

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It takes just the right mixture of daylight and wind.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

If you're referring to the texture of the snow, that's due to the snow grooming equipment. ^-^

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 83

Thank God you clarified that

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

be chill

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh lawd child. You must be new here.

8 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 3

I for one am grateful for this comment. I've seen some pretty geometric natural textures and did not know there was snow grooming equipment.

I'm sorry @EmbryonicPeace why you get the down votes?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

The first comment he replied to was a reference to a meme(?) with the quotes along the lines of "its crazy how nature do that" & "but it do"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imgur, a fickle beast, downvoted him for being out of the loop. Evidently you too, as any mention of "why" and "get downvoted" results so.

Imgur has a hard time with sarcasm.

Beautiful comment!

I grew up rich and pissed that I had to ski on icy "corduroy". Now I just wish I could afford to ski again. I was good. It was fun.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nice to meet you Mr. Corduroy

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never understood why people froth cord so hard. it’s a weird concept to me to compact soft fresh snow in to hard ridges.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

If they don't groom it then it will blow off the run or naturally be formed into moguls by riders. It's very necessary.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ski or snowboard? I liked skiing on it but I switched to snowboard when I was a teenager and don't have an opinion anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I board majority of the time but I ski occasionally as well but I am not very good at skiing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It covers the ice exposed by the snowboarders

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 15

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Negative. They've been doing it long before snowboarding came about. Ask me how I know.

I got to learn on 36 inches of freash champagne powder in Snowmass and it has Fucking spoiled me. Nothing in the world like it!!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I learned on icy ruts and clinckers in Holiday Valley NY. Folks are ski instructors in the 'boat. Can't ever go back to chunky ice out east.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Been to holiday many times. About an hr from my home. That Lake effect tho...
