Modern take on movies such as The Thing and From Beyond. The story revolves around some people trapped in a hospital surrounded by cult members but there is also something mysterious in the hospital with them... I loved the use of practical effects in this movie and pretty much everything about it

Bone Tomahawk is a western/horror movie about a town being terrorised by a mutated tribe of native Americans. The dialogue in this movie is great and it all builds up into an extremely graphic violent ending that I was not prepared for at all

Brawl in Cell Block 99 is a movie about a guy who gets sent to prison for 7 years when a drug deal goes wrong who gets a visit from his old boss telling him he needs to kill a guy in a different maximum security jail to pay the money he lost or something terrible I won't say here will happen to his unborn child which means he has to get himself transferred to the maximum security jail... I thought this was interesting as a concept as he essentially has to give himself a life sentence to even get to the guy he has to kill to save his unborn child... There is a lot more to this movie that I don't want to spoil so I won't but this is also incredibly violent and graphic (it was made by the same guy who made bone tomahawk)... Also I need to mention Vince Vaughn who's performance was great... I'd only ever seen him in comedy films and didn't know if I'd be able to take him seriously in a serious role but this was the best thing I've seen him in

Street Trash is a gross movie from the 80s about Hobos melting... The story is nonsensical and it is extremely gross but is also one of my favorite things ever

Southbound is an anthology of short horror films that take place in the desert that all link from one to the other... There are some great ones and some that are more mediocre but on the whole as a package this movie is one I would definitely recommend

The original 1977 version of Suspiria is like a moving painting... You can pause at any point in this movie and the frame will be like a work of art... This is seriously one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen... The plot is paper thin but this is hands down one of the best horror movies of all time

Ricky Oh The Story Of Ricky is a Chinese film about a guy called Ricky who gets sent to prison and has to fight a bunch of prisoners and corrupt prison guards... The film is extremely violent with Ricky literally punching holes through people and punching peoples body parts off... The guy is an absolute machine! The movie is like a ultra violent comic book

Southbound was solid, definitely one of the better horror anthologies of late

I don't think suspira is under appreciated. It's one of the 3 mothers' films! Bone tomahawk on the other hand...

+1 for Bone Tomahawk & Brawl, those are two huge under-the-radar bangers. Check out Dragged Across Concrete (same writer/director)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I own that too and I like it a lot but I don't like it as much as the two on this list

I love Ricky Oh!

Gotta be honest. And I like the original Suspiria . But the remake is incredible! And one of the spoopiest films i've seen in cinema.

It took me awhile to understand the description for "Cell Block" because it was just one long sentence.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lol yeah it was long and I'm too lazy to punctuate even a little bit

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Bone Tomahawk. That scene. If you know, you know.

Not a fan of Eldritch horror?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude its one or my all time favorite movies. It hits the ground running and doesnt stop. And its even better on drugs. Like holy shit.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just read the plot of it on Wikipedia and you weren't fucking kidding. Sprinting from the start!

Treat yo self.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel like it's set in the universe of Control.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw Bone Tomahawk over a year ago and the imagery of the last bit still disturbs me.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Brawl in cell block 99 is good ol over the top violence and gore. +1

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Riki-oh is great. Also I agree, Bone Tomahawk threw me into one of the most graphic scenes I've ever bore witness to. Fuck me I wasn't ready

I’m still scarred!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ya pretty brutal to watch.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I love how Patrick Wilson is a classical singer with an angelic voice, then appears in the most hectic/violent movies. What a gem.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That scene was playing when I walked in and my roommate was watching it, so I was REALLY not ready haha

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

So... What happened?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Scalped, wide wooden log hammered into the mouth, then flipped upside down and hacked in half.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Excessive gore and traumatizing horror images/sounds are not my type of spoopy. Hard pass.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a race to the bottom with that genre. Creativity points, but WTF? I hope and pray my children never get exposed to this.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just youtubed it. Holy shit.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel like I'm normally pretty desensitized to onscreen violence, but that scene made me really uncomfortable

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have heard of none of these, and I am now interested in several of these. Plus 1 for giving me MORE to watch :P

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 2

Word for word what I was thinking. Want a bunch of these, we shouldn't mind meld

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't....? Or SHOULD?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be careful, these are disturbing.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Riki-oh is horribly amazing.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Excellent drunken 'bad' movie watching.

Did you know there’s a real statue of Bill that you can find (and shake hands with)?!?!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why would I do that??

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Worldwide collaborative scavenger hunt after the series ended.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where?!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm initially from Reedsport, OR where it was finally found. Though it's been moved now to Piercy, CA I think.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There's a 3 book series by Scott Sigler all about an alien pathogen that I love called infection, contagious and pandemic, look it up

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I loved infection, but the follow ups lost the tension, imo.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

May I add tucker & dale vs evil?

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

We have the same taste. But honestly I'll go up to bat for the second of the three mothers trilogy. Everyone does Suspiria.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Inferno was great but it can't touch Suspiria imo
