the people below had settle an argument about if you could light a fart on taco day

"Fuel vapour construct up is one in every of the most typical causes for motorboats with gasoline engines blowing up" -No speaky the Inglish

Quick thinking by the attendant to go toward the water in case of a larger fire.

Is that a flyin' Karen ?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, I guess I can cancel my Brazilian Wax appointment this week - I had a blast tho

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ouch. Insta tanned!

Thanks man, it was a blast

Give The boat some gas and it gives you a seat and a table.

When I see the words "motorboat explosion"

Lol that guy tripping onto the boat just to abandon said boat holding his nose.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good thing he plugged his nose before he fell in

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gasoline engines must be vented before starting.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

They were fueling the boat. May have been static electricity.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There still has to be an accumulation of fumes before a spark can ignite the fuel. Always run the engine ventilation blower first.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How was the boat?! It no go? It go glub, glub no more? It putt, putts nevermore?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It started on fire and the husband and kid bailed but a Dude on shore hosed it out. Likely fucked.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy shit that article sucks. It explains that the motor exploded and the woman flew in the air over and over and over.

Italy. Which is Europe's Florida. So, yes.

3-2-1 Ignition, go.

Excellent comment. Had myself a sensible chuckle. Thank you.

This explosion that rattles panes.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Woof, that procedurally-generated and AI-translated news article, though.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I thought I was having a stroke.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I enjoyed that part more than I probably should.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The translation of that article is hilariously bad. What is Italian for "engrish"? Spaghetti English?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Spaglish?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too close to Spanglish.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh that’s a thing? Right, yeah, ok, not that then ^_^

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maintenance and correct air flow are the finest methods to forestall a ship explosion

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And everyone is bouncing into the sea.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That dude bounced towards the danger!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy fuck.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My last time on a boat I exploded all over a chick in a bikini too.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Sluts love boats

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why did he jump in the water too? Incase he was on fire? Can tell he’s a noob around water cuz he plugs his nose. Smh

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

He just went for a swim relax

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like the explosion put him off balance and it was either jump or faceplant

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would gather either to help his friend or to avoid any further explosions

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i thought to help her, but he doesn't seem too concerned about it when he breaches.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was half on the boat half on the dock when boom. He just lost his balance when the boat moved and from the shock of it all.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Ahhh yes! Thank you

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whats wrong with plugging his nose?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It shows inexperience. They never learned to blow air out of their nose to keep water out, and learn breath control. There’s nothing 1/?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really wrong with it. Shows they might not be very comfortable in the water. Can’t swim headdown if you can’t put your nose in the water 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For some of us (me for example) water in the sinus can be painful. Saltwater is even worse. There dozens of us.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’d say that’s probably uncomfortable for most people. Have you tried blowing air out of your nose when going underwater?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone that knows nothing about boats, what exactly am I seeing here, other than an explosion?

5 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 1

Boats are mostly leak proof. Heavier than air vapors can settle and collect... This is more common than people generally realize.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The engine compartments in boats are under the deck and not well ventilated. Normally that’s not a problem but even a small leak can 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Fill the space with gas vapor and cause an explosion. That’s why you’re always supposed to run the venting fans for 5 minutes before 2/3

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

You start the engines. There are big stickers by the ignition telling you to do this. 3/3

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Ahhh... there in lies the problem... people don’t read.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See I’ve only had outboard engines, so never needed to do this, but how does one ignore a big warning sticker?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How does one not wear mask when the state has mandatory requirements to do so & all establishments have signs?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They forgot to turn on the blower fan to vent out gas fumes from the bilge/engine compartment.

5 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 0

Gotcha. Thanks.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As an engineer (er, civil, not mech!) how the fck is that blower fan not _automatically_ engaged during fuelling?

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

I completely agree. Builders trying to seal of mechanical areas from salt water not thinking about the consequences.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Technology on boats is typically 20 years behind what you see in cars and trucks

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I was wondering the same, it should be a basic safety messure.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The fumes can still build up while the boat is just sitting there as well.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gasoline vapors accumulated in the engine compartment while refueling; spark, likely from carburetor, ignited it

5 years ago | Likes 128 Dislikes 2

Not a boater, but would surprised if modern boats had carburetor motors in them, rather than Fuel Injection. and yeah they don't make spark

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotcha. Thanks.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Carburetors don’t make sparks. Probably something on the ignition.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Carburetors don't create sparks...

Fuel vapor ignited by the cylinder while starting can travel backwards through the carburator since it's an open valve. Carbs don't spark

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The flame arrestor you've linked is essentially a mesh screen that blocks flame pressure fronts as they pass through the carburator

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good lord... spark was not used literally if that's what you're hung up on.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm no boat motor genius but would a boat this size really be using a carb instead of FI?

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I don’t know boat motors, but I know a thing or two about motor boating.

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

This new of a boat isnusing EFI. Not a carb. Still vapor issues likely from the tank though and not through the engine.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*is using

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I figured if anything it was at least DI like 80s cars. Carbs just seemed odd.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. These boats typically have two inboard gasoline engines... each about the size of a large car engine. There are laws requiring (1/2)

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I just checked Mercury and all their inboards are EFI. Not that carbs aren't still in service, but I don't think anybody's making them new.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good. I've been out of the business for a bit now, but most boats I inspected had some age on them. They stick around longer than cars.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they have backfire flame arrestors on the carbs to prevent this type of accident... because it's so common. (2/2)

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Didn’t help here.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If only there was that giant warning sticker next to the ignition that reminded you to run the blower for five minutes before starting.

5 years ago | Likes 606 Dislikes 1

All mine have set 4 minutes.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

The rules of the safety manual are written in blood.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

5 minutes? that's too long. I'm a busy and important person and I don't have that kind of time.

5 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

That's cool, you'll get to the crash site before everyone else!

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That's leadership my friend

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Errr care to explain for us plebs who are too poor for boats?

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fuel fumes build up around the engine during fueling, or when sitting for a while. Blower fan pushes fresh air through the engine /1

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Compartment to clear those out before starting. Otherwise, this is what can happen. /2

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I done got learnt today!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ya can’t fix stupid. Well, ya can, but ya usually end up in jail :-(

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 1

death fixes everything.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard a quote: ‘you can’t fix stupid, but you can sure numb it with an angle iron’

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sadly, we don't let stupid hurt nearly enough, or let stupid fix itself.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In the sea, in this case. With bits of boat everywhere

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is why there are warnings stickers like 'Keep your dick away from mower blades while they are turning' bcuz Florida Man did it once.

5 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Florida man did it and sued the manufacturer.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

wait realy ? does this sticker exist ?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It usually has a pic of a hand, but you know how Florida man is.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be fair having to run the blowers is not intuitive.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It is if you're not an idiot with no business operating power equipment. :P
