Their love is palpable ... reminds me of my parents.

That's wonderful. Oof, I lump in my throat.

They have a few photos on the facebook page for Baily House Care Home of Gordon and Wifey, Mary.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No cane necessary, no walker necessary. They have each other to hold them up.

4 years ago | Likes 391 Dislikes 2

She'll need that walker the next day after dude is finished with her.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I don't appreciate you adding to the the emotions here.. The source material was quite enough thank you very much! But your GD right!

4 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

And the nurse to make sure that they don’t over balance and drag each other down. Its touching enough no need to talk it up with a story

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

A way better story than twilight.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No Cain needed... The Viagra will handle it

I need $10k in cash, a name and an adress. I'll move her wherever you want.

My Gpa is trying to get my mom to help make that happen. Gma's dementia is getting worse; he's 92 & helping her is getting harder each day.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They still live alone and are shockingly autonomous. You'd never guess he's 92 if you met him. But her mind is going faster these days. :(

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Same with mine. Gpa falls down at night and gma takes care of him. Unfortunately she won’t get help with this

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s so hard. I’m sorry; I know how hard it is having stubbornly independent grandparents. Love to you and yours ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, we can move in and someone will help us live? Why the hell did my parents say I'd be all on my own then.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

It costs a lot. Like a whole lot.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ha!!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Start packing, bitch!"

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It varies, the main deciding factor in most cases(I know of) had to do with memory care. In this case it looks like both have good mobility.

4 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

The mobility isn't that good, which is why one lady has her hand on the old woman's arm the whole time.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's better than a lot of people their age, hell I know people 20 years younger who can even stand up with help let alone walk.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can't*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can but you might have to wait till she FALLS DOWN THE STAIRS

Couples get split up in senior care all the time in Alberta. Whether they like it or not. It’s terrible.

4 years ago | Likes 267 Dislikes 0

If true that's horrid

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the US you have to pay for senior care out-of-pocket. So splitting up isn't an issue, the elderly dying from being poor is though.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Same in Sask. it’s cruel.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That should be illegal, holy shit...

4 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 1

Regulations help, but many old people vote for the party that doesn't like interfering with companies abusing people. So it goes.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not always...we strongly support families together, it's within the core of our assistive living model (not ltc)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I work in a care home. Sometimes you need to split couples up sadly. Sometimes the spouse can interfere in the others care too much.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yea I've got a grandma in senior care and my grandpa isn't, they can't visit due to covid. :/

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

AB healthcare is seriously trying too hard to be the US of Canada and it's embarassing for everyone.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I'd be telling the family to come visit us in some other actually reasonable senior care town

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Alberta isn’t a town. It’s a Canadian province roughly the same size as Texas and its all under a single health authority.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh, duh! My only consolation is that somehow my post got more likes than yours lol ;)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

…but it’s free

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It happens in the US and they charge you for it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was 2k+ a month for my grandpa in a memory care unit. Definitely not free.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My mom was in a memory care assisted living - $10,000.00/month. We paid $80,000.00 before she died. The US really doesn’t care

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WTF?

4 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 0

Society does not care for old people. It's a damn shame, because we'll all hopefully be old one day.

4 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

Personally getting old looks terrible. My body already feels 80 so if I make it to 60 I'm good after that.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

My grandparents are in their 90s. I hope i die long before that.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not true. It can be hard to care for people who need round the clock attention

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 19

Not an excuse. The problems in Alberta stem from lack of funding, privatizing care, and not prioritizing elder care because as op said, /1

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not really an excuse.
