Congratulations, you may have save this dog's life. That dog deserves a hug. And so do you. (Better give one to your other dog so it doesn't feel left out)

you have a new friend. You choose a pet, a friend chooses you.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like my Finn. Sadly, we had to put him down two weeks ago. He was a very sweet boy and also a rescue. Irish Wolfhound and Black Lab. Thanks for giving Osiris a good home. Please give him some scritches for us.

This is the way.

To live a life not only never wondering if you're loved, but unable to fathom what it would mean to be unloved. That's the life you've given.

I would recommend pet insurance, Was worth it for me to never have to weigh finances as a factor in decisions at the vet.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He has already been added. I keep all my significant others pets on it as well so we have 4 dogs, 1 cat and 1 lizard on the plan now 😅

Time for a microchip.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Excellent, my friend. Excellent 👍

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Correction. His name is High Lord Osiris, giver of kisses and Good Boy. Congrats on the beautiful new family member

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look at that sweet face! And he's already sleeping belly up?! He's gotten so comfortable so quickly that I don't want to think about him having been abandoned, so I will just say thank you for being kind, @op! Old puppers are the sweetest. Glory on the right is 11 years old, and she's amazing. Perfect even.

I’m in love with those pooches

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are good people. A buddy for you. A buddy for that nice white lab.

2 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 0

That was part of the thought! Jovi the white lab I 1½ years and Osiris (black) is 8-10 years. Hopefully Jovi mellows out haha

This whole post made me do big pouty lip in concern for poor pupper, and admiration of your good humaning.

Get pet insurance please. Next time something expensive happens you can have help!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thankfully they were covered! I put him on the plan the day I adopted him, just sadly it's a reimbursement process

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chops is a good choice, Lu approves.

All pups love lambchop! Mine kills his other toys but not lammi

Good on you for helping an old dog out

So...that username...is that a hand, or a fist? Important difference.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seconded! Man, good on you @op. I’ve been having a hell of a week and seeing this kind of kindness really helped.

Well said, ElbowDeepInBillCosby.

Same reaction. Lovely story, so glad to hear you gave him a home, cute lookin fellow with his lamb… AAAAAH! GREY MUZZLE! YOU SAVED AN OLD BOY AND WILL GIVE HIM LOVE AND WONDERFUL YEARS AND GOOD BOY TREATS AND… yeah. Kind lost my shit at the grey face.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

And stuffies! I love that you gave him a toy buddy.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And good on you for *squints at username* helping... an old dog... out

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not looking for any praise, he deserved a family and a home. Also when I adopted him the shelter said 2 years old but the vet said 8-10 years old 😅 still 100% worth it

2 years ago | Likes 260 Dislikes 2

I think the vet may also be being a bit optimistic here. But he looks like he ought to have a few good years left in him! :)

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vet told us our dog was probably 6. That was 14 years ago and he is still here causing mischief. Your dog is super cute!

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Black dogs show a grey muzzle earlier than other colors but still, he's older than 2.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a human who was adopted for the same reason, thank you so much! Knowing people care for animals in these situations fills my heart

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definitely on the older side, but that old boy has plenty of mileage left on him. Absolutely worth it

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Shelter was just trying to get him adopted. That gray muzzle says older dog… Still, glad you could give him a home and some love!

2 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 0

My lab had a gray muzzle at like 3

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Usually it's a guess between 2 years and 7 years when they start getting grey around muzzle or eye changes. Shelter went on young side because so many people don't adopt old pets

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Who the hell still has unchipped pets? Is this a rural thing that my suburban ass can't relate to?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I do live in a town of 12k but lots of the people here don't like change/different stuff. We have a huge stray animal problem as well, I'd guess lots of the animals are given as pets and then kicked once they realize they have to train them or the dogs just get out. It's sad :(

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Somebody took care of that dog for most of its life. It is very sad. But it also choose you and you accepted which is very very not sad! Do you need help with doggy expenses?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I won't say yes or no, in the end I knew it was not gonna be cheap to adopt a pup. So if you want to help you can but I'm not gonna tell you to. Idk if that makes sense
