Vacancy (2007)

Plot: When David and Amy's car breaks down, they have little choice but to spend the night at an isolated hotel. The couple entertain themselves by watching low-budget slasher movies on TV -- until they realize that the horrifying images they see were recorded in the very room in which they are staying.

They realize that unless they escape, they may be the next victims of something truly horrible...

Starring Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson

Backcountry (2014)

Plot: An urban couple go camping in the woods and find themselves lost in the territory of a predatory black bear.

Starring Missy Peregrym (from Stick It) and Jeff Roop

*88% on Rotten Tomatoes

A Lonely Place to Die (2011)

Plot: A group of mountaineers in the Scottish Highlands discover a kidnapped girl who was buried alive. They are soon pursued by the girl's captors....

Starring: Melissa George, Ed Speleers, Alec Newman, Kate Magowan, and Holly Boyd

Prisoners (2013)

Plot: Around Thanksgiving, Keller Dover's six-year-old daughter, Anna, goes missing, together with her young friend, Joy. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, Alex Jones, but a lack of evidence forces his release.

As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child's life is at stake the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands....

**Directed by the same man who directed this year's Blade Runner 2049, Sicario, Arrival, Incendies, and Enemy

Starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Terence Howard, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Melissa Leo, and Paul Dano among others

Prisoners is the best film on this list. Nor only is Danis the director but It's shot by Roger Deakins/

No need to post the rotten score, fuck that site I never go by their “rating”

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It’s literally just an aggregate of critics’ thumbs up or thumbs down. They don’t rate anything.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's the problem. Reducing a score to a 'like' or 'dislike' is a flawed aggregate: it's treated as either perfect or total garbage. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s meaningful if you understand the source. If it’s “rotten” that’s a pretty good indication that it’s not good.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's why you see films with an average rating of 7/10 have an RT percentage meter of 93%. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Prisoners was intense. If you love your kids, I would imagine you would do what Hugh did. I know I would...

If you love your kids don’t watch that movie. It was too intense and I just kept thinking about my children.

My wife and I saw the trailer for it in the theatre, looked at each other and said simultaneously, "Skipping that one." (1)
