That moment when your rebellious puppy grows up

I'm so proud of him!

Been trying to get here with my dog, but he can't pay attention to anything for more than 15 seconds. Congrats to you. :3

Dogs will do anything you want if they can figure out what it is.

Look at that look he gave you. Just.. ugh. So damn adorable. He knows he’s a good boy. God damn I want a dog...@RetroHomeslice

I was kind of expecting first off-leash hare sighting.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If only my dogs were as good. I'm training one of them not to pull on the lead, but they still can't help but chase runners and cyclists.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should be! We all are! Good boi!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats on the training

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

Thank you! It may not seem like that big a deal but to me this is huge!

I wanna know how. I would love to do this with Thor.

I tried to go for a walk with my kids recently, but my dog saw us and decided she was coming too. Walked out the gate and across the street,

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

And she just walked alongside us without a leash. Had to take her back home because we were going on the train, but she was so good.

Lure with and give bits of food. As long as the dog is food driven,it will work. If they are ball/toy driven, use that

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dog knows Left and Right- I shout directions when we’re walking in the woods. I know PEOPLE that don’t know Left and Right...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep going. Give him more to learn and a task. They need it trust me

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Believe me this is only one small aspect of his training! He's learning every day

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He looks very healthy and well taken care of. Nice coat and weight. Makes me happy to see that. Keep up the good work

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Very Nice doggo you got there

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excellently trained pup!!!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait until the first squirrel.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

We haven't seen squirrels yet but he's seen lots of birds and is actually leashed 95% of the time

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Taught my guy the same way. Squirrels, deer, birds, or other dogs, he sticks close unless released.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dogs collar fell off once, she looked at it, looked at me, and bolted. It took me a mile of trying tactics to finally get her.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

oh noes

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's scary! If her collar falls off easily maybe have a harness with tags on it for double security? Or a stronger collar

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was 100% user error. It was our first stroll with the baby and I wasn’t paying close enough attention. Now I check everything.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

what a well trained pupper!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really hope you're in an off leash area. People that have their dogs off leash on the street are assholes

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

He was off-leash only for the video. I just wanted to see if he needed the leash to stay in position. It was a large open area with no ppl

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A hecking good doggo!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do Not Boop? I’m doing it anyways @OP

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No pets only boops

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brilliant! Fully supported!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice work, @OP! Are you going to train him to sit when you stop? Or stand and wait?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am not enforcing an automatic sit with him as I prefer he sits just when I tell him to, but sometimes he does it automatically

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cool! What's the next thing you're looking to train him in? (Other than reinforcing heel)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always get sad when I see those training vest, but I know they're necessary for training. Malinois?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

German Shepherd!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, which now makes sense given your username lol. Gorgeous pup!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow great job! I'm teaching my 8 month BC to heel too! the moment she doesn't see a treat in my hand she runs ahead. We're working on it.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've started to hold my treat hand behind my back so he doesn't associate seeing the treat with behaving, if that helps.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Taught a severely abused chi mutt to be off leash at all times. Until I made the mistake of going to the bathroom without her

7 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

Aw, did they run away? How is chi doing?

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Ex stole her in the divorce then neglected her

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Got damn. How’s the training going now?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aw, so sad to see pups that are developed poorly. They are so impressionable when they are young. Chin up, good on you for trying, mate.

7 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

That's a seriously long crap, you should probably see a doctor.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

that is an extra special good dog! He keeps looking at you, he listens!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've worked so hard for him to look at me it made me so happy when he just did it without a cue

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excellent, now for Level 2 (the squirrel test)

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a bird so that might have to work instead. There don't seem to be lots of squirrels here

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yippy dog, passing cat, whatever it is I'm betting your dog will handle it. Nice work!

Didjya here that, Mr Whiskers? I've earned the right to be called a "good boy".

Doot?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You looking for a source or something?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I recognize this. Fuck.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hentai?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...is there a /g/ code?

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

what is a /g/ code?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's part of the url of a certain website, if you combine it with six digit numbers you get content

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The language of the gods

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Why no petting? If i may ask

7 years ago | Likes 210 Dislikes 7

I'm thinking because its really bad for service dogs to be distracted while working.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Plus if its service training, service dogs aren't supposed to be pet while wearing their best because it's a distraction and they need to

7 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Attend to the medical needs of their handler at a moment's notice

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The Do Not Pet vest supports your hypothesis.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I understand that, i would never pet a service animal or support animal while its on the job, i was just curious about her pup :)

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The front patch appears to say 'training' so in a way this dog is 'on the job', or eventually will be.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would guess it's a 'practice how you play' type of thing

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The video stopped right before I gave him a treat! And I don't usually pet him while we are in motion

7 years ago | Likes 223 Dislikes 5

Pretty sure he was wondering about the vest, not your behavior ^^

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I replied to them again!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha i get that, but i meant on his vest it says no petting, was curious as to why, is he a support animal or K9 pup in training?

7 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 3

Dogs in training and just support animals in general should not be pet. It can distract from their super important job. They are working...

7 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Not to be disturbed! It's hard because I love every single dog and want to pet them all but they're for their assigned human, not me.

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I love dogs, I love every kind of dog, and I want to pet them all, but i can't, can't pet every dog.

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Oh! I misread that! I have the patches on because I'm working on his handler focus right now and don't want other people distracting him

7 years ago | Likes 202 Dislikes 2

I need to consider doing that, I like to take my big girl to the park to get used to being around other dogs and people and too many want to

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

bother her regardless of how many times I say she's training please dont distract her

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Gotcha, that makes a lot of sense, thank you for explaining it :)
