This sparked a LOT of discussion about the game within the online trans/queer communities, bringing a lot of attention to it within that demographic. When the game actually released and everyone realized that the game is actually very LGBTQ+ friendly, with a surprising amount of characters being queer-coded, the community loved it. (1/2)
(2/2) This wound up making it very popular within the queer community, and spawned a lot of memes about queer folk playing it. Also, because it’s so LGBTQ+ friendly, a lot of us who weren’t even queer then had a bit of a first queer awakening with the game.
