Mini Scaping

Sauce: Joshua Smith a self-taught Australian artist who creates modern urban miniatures replicating major cities. His attention to detail is insane.

I have a mate with the same name and a fondness for action figures (which would scale well with his amazing creations), what are the odds?!

I have a metric for art. I consider art a thing that expresses the suffering of the artist under an obsession to create. The effort must be

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 9

Evident. When I see it it must seem impossible for me to reproduce unless I also suffer under that obsession. This qualifies.

Oh hey, it’s the pornography store in the middle of Flinders Street! I’d recognize that seedy establishment anywhere!

And who could mistake the haunted milk bar on Parramatta Road!

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It being in black and white is a nice touch.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHO the Fuck down votes this?!?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does anyone know how you get into doing stuff like this? I'm really interested but know nothing about it all.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

One way, buy model railroad building kits. Assemble them, then start dressing them up--paint, people, extra parts. It grows on you.

I'm thinking about getting into it too, found this great youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjRkUtHQ774mTg1vrQ6uA5A/videos

Wonder if he's ever worked on stop-motion films.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With that kinda details he could build miniature sets for live action movies and nobody would notice.

Also for sale here. https://beinart.org/collections/joshua-smith
