I've been trying to quit for years now, posts like these and posts from other imgurians about quitting are quite inspiring. Maybe this will help you too

A big part of it seems to involve trimming or shaving facial hair.

MFW I get inspired but remember I'm a beer sales rep.

#12 hit me in the feels reminded me of my mom looks wise

Sober for 5 months now, lost like 10 kg already. I sleep better, my work efficiency boosts and I'm happier. Feels good man.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sexy bitches. Being sober isn't easy I can attest to that but worth it. If you're more miserable sober... you're doing it wrong.

#1 looks like the guy from limitless

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#8 and #10 look like the same person

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I tried going sober turns out I'm a very angry sober person and shit to be around so went back to drink more relaxed not sure if that's good

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you know the answer. I'm the same, social drinking, I think I bore people if I am sober. Sounds familiar by any chance? It gets worse

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. 3 years sober, went from 170 lbs to 145 lbs.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Lightweights.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Jesus, people. It's just meant to be inspiring. Leave it at that.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yes, thank you. But the ones that needed that will hopefully find this and that's all that matters, really

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sober all my life. Have problems with social anxiety and connecting with peers. Wish there were more non-drinking social settings around.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most of these people replaced one habit (drinking) with another (physical activity). You'd be surprised how many fit people are recovering.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm almost 3 months in, have lost 25lbs and can keep up with my kids finally.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is number 8 James Corden?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Went on a diet for 4 months lost 100lbs just now realizing it's cause I counted alcohol calories as well good on them gotta stop drinking

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't quit but I rarely drink ever since I got off probation and when I was on probation i drank even heavier

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This makes me wish I had a drinking problem so I could lose weight by quitting drinking.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like there is more at play here than JUST getting sober. But still it should be encouraging.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I think it depends on how you want to look at it. No, simply putting the bottle down won't make you look better. However, better living...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...and a better outlook on life sure as fuck will, and for many people that just won't happen while they're sill drinking. So, yeah, as...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...far as I'm concerned it's valid to say that getting sober is what made the changes we're seeing here. It's the root of all the change.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 sauce...Reddit?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. It's me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh hey!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd like to say that exactly two weeks ago on the 20th I quit drinking. I went from drinking 3-6 drinks every single day to absolutely

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

nothing overnight. Please do your research and prepare for withdrawal symptoms and maybe even consult a doctor. I was not careful and ended

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

up having a seizure 4 days later. The withdrawals are brutal and can shock your system and can be fatal.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I learned from this is that alcohol enhances the strength of your beard.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Judging by #14 it also increases the likelihood of having jizz on your face.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've gone 3 months on Sunday. Feel amazing! Keep on goin, don't give up!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Have you lost any weight?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah about 20 pounds. I've noticed I've thinned out quite a bit, most noticeably in my face. Definitely feel alot healthier though!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's great! I'm on day two and my goal is at least a month... I admire your discipline!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks! It gets easier believe me! There is always the temptation, but you just have to stay strong and keep your goal in mind!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I quit 5 years, 8 months and 23 days ago and I've only gotten fatter, bitter, angrier and more depressed. I was actually happier before.

9 years ago | Likes 180 Dislikes 18

restart?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Back on the wagon, mate.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

You didn't change your attitude, that's what 12 step programs show you how to do. It's why some need AA, they don't have skills to change.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was drinking way too much quit for a month. Hated it. Back to moderation https://imgur.com/lbRdBc2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you replace drinking with eating? Alcohol is a lot of calories and if you cut one thing and use another for comfort, nothing will change

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

That might just be the aging process

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Aging doesn't do that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It might not seem like it, but I was actually joking

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I stand corrected.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To be fair, most adults are fatter, bitterer, angrier and more depressed than they were 6 years ago.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Was anyone else slightly attracted to sober #1 ...orrr am i on my own here?

But I like my beard. And beer.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Okay, cool. This isn't an order. Did someone tell you it was?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

sober people have beards too sometimes i think

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever since I started up WoW again I've cut drinking down drastically. Not that it was problematic to begin with, but now it's even less so.

I think #3 was just addicted to hot pockets.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is the type of top comment I was looking for

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You joke about that but it's hard staying off world of warcrack

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean that would work...if WoW was quittable

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 3

I literally just relapsed last night, after 15 months

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Enlisted in the army...only reason i'm stopping is for basic...then I will probably be dragged back to it XD Sorry you relapsed XD

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was me 8 years ago. Basic then back to raiding.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey this sounds like me right now as I leave tuesday xD

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it was easy for me once the first expansion came out. ruined my game and i was free from its spell.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Up to Legion I actually was pretty much clean of WoW from the end of WotLK. I might be back on it now tho.. -_-

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I accidentally quit. Haven't played since the day after Legion dropped. :\ Got too busy with RL crap.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

probably for the better it's so grindy but there is definitely a lot to do just requires time sorry you don't have time to play!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a Warlock and a Paladin to level up. Doesn't look like I'm going to much in this expansion. :(

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i play warrior/monk arms/fury and WW monk

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I quit, but legion...it calls to me

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't bother its just as bad as WoD.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would imply legion has no content which is not true

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean legion isn't terrible and im not complaining about how their is too much to do but World quests...are meh

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Agreed

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Depends on your reason for staying. Just addiction? Yeah. If it's your social circle, everyone else has to quit first, lol.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

both?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got bored pretty quick when everyone I liked playing with left. Happens for me in other games too. :c

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

see that happens a lot of people i've met over time quit but i've met so many other people before they quit that they just keep adding up XD

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here, my whole guild was friends and family. They all quit over time and I was left all alone :(

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure, cutting alcohol from your life isn't the only part of the change here but it does give you strength to take more care of yourself

9 years ago | Likes 312 Dislikes 13

And here I am...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can do it bro.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would be interesting to see one of these where they quit sugar. Only takes like 3 days to look like a different person.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well, you do know how much calories is in alcohol, right.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quitting sugar isn't about calories.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I quit in May. I feel great!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Congratulations

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

thanks!!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If only I drank in the first place. Then I would have something to quit

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

My advice? Start drinking. Also, have you tried meth? I heard that's a toughie.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe start with something like junk food?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

i mean im not looking for advice. also junk food isnt really a thing for me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I fell into the habit of drinking most nights a week earlier this year. Decided to start going to my MMA gym pretty much every night (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

instead, leaving me no time to drink in the evenings. On a Friday night, I figured there was no harm in a bottle of wine over the (2/3)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

course of the evening. Got a headache from the wine, woke up feeling like I was hit by a train. I don't drink much by myself anymore.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I quit for 2 years starting when i was 21. Ruined my social life and ended up smoking weed and being lonely. But I was guilted into it 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

2/2 by my girlfriend. When 23 i gave up weed and started drinking. Loads happier.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It also cuts out a crazy amount of calories from your diet, probably the most significant source of calories if you drink a lot.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

6 hours sober after 2 months of manic flip-flopping and ruining my life and my family's. Thanks for the motivation.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Keep it at least for a week. Than you can make bigger plans

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's been 15 days. How big can the plans be? Can I buy super yacht yet?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

how's the not.drinking going?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Victorious for nearly 9 months now!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ur post was clearly an inspiration, I think especially ur attitude, I was standing at a forked road had to be honest with myself

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Strength and focus. Also, time.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Also money. Alcohol is expensive.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Alcohol is cheap. Bars are expensive

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Idk what you're drinking, but ~$10 for a six pack is not cheap.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If I wanted to drink cheap, I could grab an eighteen pack for $12. My local convenience store also does 2 for $2 25oz rolling rock cans

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I must be missing something. I'm somewhat of an alcoholic myself, i'd like to stop. But when i go 1 week without a drink, i get 0 motivation

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Withdrawals. You need to keep at it to get through that initial valley.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea. It takes a few months to feel better. The first 30 days are terribly miserable. Detoxing from alcohol and all the sugar. Try 30 days.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I don't feel better at all. I see how it all sucks and i'm more depressed.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

You need a therapist.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I largely started drinking to forget my stress and kill time in the evenings. Starting group activities most nights of the week helped (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

fill that time. Making them physical activities helps with stress and pumps you full of endorphins, too.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wanted to start a team sport but my work schedule sucks so bad i couldn't. I'll try to find something next week. I like bows, but ---
