#11 Bichon Frise is pronounced Beeshon FREEZE not Beeshon Free-SAY. There's no 'é' accent there, people.

Tell me Summer, if a human was born with stubby legs, would they breed it with another deformed human and put their children on display?

A french bulldog is an English dog? Do they know?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No sea dogs?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Noone should consider a dingo as a dog. That's like calling a wolf a dog.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're all good dogs

That Doxie looks like a stuck little shit. Like my little shit doxie did. She was the best little shit.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

TIL The frenchies are not french

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

They were bred in England, but the small pups with pointy ears were shipped to France due to these 'undesirable' features

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And Aussies aren't Aussie.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The great danes isnt Danish either

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So the Australian Shepherd comes from America, and the American Eskimo comes from Germany, and the French Bulldog comes from England ...

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

And the Blue Arab comes from Australia. Makes perfect sense to me.

Is there a geological (ecological?) reason why it seems like certain regions have more dog "types" than others?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Climates result in different hunting I'd say. Terriers go in tunnels, retrievers get ducks, mastiffs hunt bears, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

a demographical one: the brits loved breeding dogs for show off, whilst other way bigger regions cared more for quality than quantity

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dogo Argentino haha

They're real. And they're stacked af.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those dogs are SERIOUS dogs. Make excellent LGDs

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I came here to post my sensible laugh at that one. You beat me to it!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What's funny about it?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like someone who doesn't speak spanish tried to give it a Spanish sounding name by adding -o to the English words

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I think since everyone seems to call dogs doggo and it sounds funny? Idk forgive me! (๐•̆ -•̆๐)

How is there no collie?

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Not even a Border Collie!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think this is interesting but it makes me sad that there is no collie. I have two, I need there to be a collie!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right?! What the hell yo?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My thoughts exactly, as a collie fan in general. Where's Lassie?!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The omission of Scots breeds is certainly remiss.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's no Mountain Cur, either. I've got two back home.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay I'm not well versed in dog breeds but what the hell is a coolie? Is that meant to be a collie??

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Huh, always thought Cotons were French, and Australian Shepherds, well, Australian. Very interesting.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

The fuck is a coolie? I thought it was spelt Colie or do I know nothing about dogs in Aus?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Accurate info!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing Cotons are from a former French colony.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The original stock that aussies came from were actually imported from australia as cattle dogs. They were quickly adapted to their modern

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not just adapted, but were bred with other cattle/shepard dogs popular of the American northwest, like the border collie. (Also has Aussie)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Form in the US. Source: long-time Aussie owner

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is ofc the most common theory, but there isn't a real consensus on this so ymmv.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Common theory that I've heard*

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The German Shorthaired Pointer was beat out by the American Eskimo in the German dog category.

8 years ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 0

That makes me grumpy... :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, it is really white...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

American Eskimo we're originally called White German Spitz, but we're renamed as they came to the US in the 1940's.

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

We're they really?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ech, my typo. I just noticed that. I hate it. Damn you auto correct and fat, dead fingers!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, my gram had one and I thought it was an odd name, so I looked it up. Hurrah for rebranding?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Marketing!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our friends just got one and informed me that we can't call it that because racism.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which? I always felt uncomfortable with the term Eskimo, but I don't know where it sits. The rename was definitely due to prejudice.
