New fan!

Old fan that needed to come out

Uh oh CPU still attached!!

Where the CPU should be. Yes I know it's dusty.

Went to gently pull of the CPU from the heat sink aaaand shit. Now my processor is in two halves.

Did you use glue instead of heat sink compound?

My first thought was you just delidded it but it straight up looks like the die broke in two O_o

completely screwed. looks like it pulled the silicon layers of the die apart rather than just the ihs

Did you use thermal adhesive instead of thermal paste

HAH yer fucked, mate.

I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I've never seen a grease do that, must be glue or soldered. Your CPU is def messed up but maybe your motherboard is still good. What specs?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Specs probs shit based on the fact that the MB only supports DDR3 1600

Doesn't look bad. Stick a little bubblegum on there, put it back together and no one will notice.

@OP, did you originally apply Thermal Adhesive to that CPU/Heatsink...instead of thermal paste?

That's actually pretty neat. Sorry for your loss, though.

Time for an upgrade

Oh yes, that dude is kaput

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How old is that setup? Time to upgrade, bruh.

It looks to me like... That thing is supposed to be in one piece, and now it's in too, so it's probably not gonna work right anymore

4 big black men's worth.

What you did was unintentionally "delid" your cpu. Common process to better cool it. Check youtube on how to reapply your lid then carry...

Either this is bs or you need to look at the chip again it's in 2 pieces.

On with your install. May not be possible, however older model cpus may be cheap or an upgrade may be in order. Best of luck!

You've succeeded with a CPU die where I've failed with countless kinder eggs and oreos. A perfect split!

MRW people use thermal adhesive instead of paste

Good sir, I do indeed believe that you did in fact roll a nat 20 then cofirmed it with an another 20 & maybe a 3rd. Results bisected -12HP
