Beautiful old pocket door found hidden in thick walls of an old house during renovation

Is that house in San Francisco? I lived in an oldon Utah St. in S.F. with doors in the wall and that same hardware on them.

Put it back! It was hidden for a reason!! O.O

I'm an old house geek! What a gorgeous door! I think the hardware is Eastlake Victorian, a bit earlier than Art Deco, but my personal fav!

If you restore it, please post pictures. This ride can't end here.

Illuminati doors are the new rave

That door would make a uber neat table top

I wouldn't be surprised if there's another one on the other side. I think they slid together like the old study rooms did back in the day.

This is amazing....I created an account just so I could favorite it. History is incredibly fascinating.

Don't forget to recover the original track as well.

And interesting! The "track" is a wooden box that's built into the structure around the door! Sweet!

Looked like someone used the table to roll a fat blunt in pic 2.

Figure this'll make a nice workbench. *adjusts belt by the buckle, spits over shoulder*

Well congratulations. Now the magical passageway has been destroyed and the world behind it will be doomed.

Old house porn. One of the rarer types of porn on imgur but one I appreciate the most. Thank you!

I've torn apart several old homes and NEVER found cool stuff like this :(

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I live in a ~200 year old house. I never thought I'd get excited about the width of a board before.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

:D I actually lived in a house that is on wikipedia. Check out the robert waugh house. it was built like a rock :D

There is something to be said about ~130 year old bricks, too.

They are mounted on rails and slide into walls, used to separate rooms.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Like a sliding door, except it slides into a "pocket" in the wall. So it disappears and doesn't take up room.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would of left the archway but if I knew about the door I would of definitely got it back into working order

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you know... i liked it... but they added an ac unit in the walls of the other room, so nothing was symmetric anymore. it was a shame.

Lol ohh you kept saying ugly I thought you just meant the shape

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

haha. nooo. it was a fun kinda middle eastern shape. I dig it. but yea. the room mojo was way off. now it's better :)))

But what about the nope basement?

10 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

Yes I am seriously worried about that damn basement too!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

haha. it'll be a minute on that. we're trying to make major and necessary changes so we can adopt!

10 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

I am curious about the hollow sound. Old ice box, an old safe, hollowed void created what a body decomposed......

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Adopt what? A baby? Cat? Dog? Babycatdog??

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Hahah. A human baby hopefully :) though it's expensive!

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Obvious sarcasm! We know you're adopting that gremlin or ghoul in the basement. We want to see the horrors too!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice, congrats!! Hope everything works out for you and your SO! :)

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That is awesome! My wife and I did that 8 years ago. It's been an amazing time.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Any tips or advice for a couple looking to adopt? It just seems like a rough road... But the only one.
