Remember this?

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 when Harry and Hermione are on the run they stop on top of this impressive view.

That's Malham Cove in the Yorkshire Dales, UK.

It's a limestone cliff that used to be a huge waterfall during the last Ice Age 12,000+ years ago.

No-one in living memory has seen water passing over it...

Until this weekend.

For the first time in living memory it became a waterfall again thanks to flooding.

This last happened around 200 years ago.

It became England's tallest waterfall in the process.

Cool huh?

This is amazing thanks op

What a time to be alive knowing that such rare moments can be captured in video instead of written or oral histories.

Yeah. Lake Missoula covered Montana to a depth of over a 1000', and it all drained at once. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Missoula

It's cool but it's the 'cool' part of huge devastation of floods which have caused untold damage across the UK.

10 years ago | Likes 140 Dislikes 5

I was just going to say something like this. Yes there's a waterfall, on the other hand, there are 4,000-5,000 homes flooded/without power.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Had no power from Saturday night until this morning. Floods everywhere around us. Its pretty horrific.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kind of what I though when I read "thanks" to flooding. Who has ever said that?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who just left the UK after vacation there, thanks for waiting for me to leave :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone from the UK living in a town that's seen major floods, I don't mind seeing a silver lining.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't say that bad shit hasn't happened. My family are from Cumbria and we've been lucky not to have our house destroyed.
