I am amazed by Pokemon Go. Here's why.

A little Kakuna I've since, uh, set free.

When I first heard about Pokemon Go, I was skeptical. "Oh yeah, like you'll be able to trick people into exercising" I told myself. My initial survey of the game left me with the single thought: "This is it?" It seemed so boring.

Later that night, I decided I'd sit outside and have a cigar. In doing so, I started noticing an absurd number of people in different groups, sometimes alone, walking circles around the block. I turned my Pokemon Go app on and realized that they were all doing a circuit to get items. A guy walking by pointed to my phone, and said "Yeah man, awesome!" I began to walk, and collect. I got high-fives on the walk. I meant to go around the block, and ended up walking for about three miles.

So what? Over the last few years, I've been struggling with motivation to work out. I've gained weight, I don't sleep well, I'm restless. Three miles might be what I walk in a week. This is, truly, a great thing. It's fun to collect, and battling at the nearest gym was maybe seven or eight people, all leaning against a wall. Socializing. I think it's super, super great and I'm excited to get some air again. I just wanted to share, and I hope you guys are enjoying it as well.
