I've seen a tree tipped like that survive several years on its side, no problem. Until humans decided to remove it to build stuff...

Trees don't grow that well in sand and from what I can tell most of Holland is a sand pit with stuff built on it.

A thirsty tree taking a sip from th local pond.

The conclave provides

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you can set the tree up again ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Roots hit the concrete on both sides, tree's roots unable to secure horizontal anchor. Strip only good for bushes.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The real culprit can be seen swimming around looking at his work.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ground water level is too high for that type of tree. Root system is too shallow to carry the wheight.

4 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 7

and then what happened?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Planting that close concrete kept the roots from growing farther out limiting the trees support system

You must be fun at parties

Found the arboriculturalist…

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, there you have a problem in the Netherlands. Ground water level is technically -2m mostly.

Trees grown in a nursery are forced and will never have a big root system like a forest tree, slowly grown over decades and centuries.

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Can you tell which is which from looking? Serious question.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nah but virtually all city and park trees are grown in nurseries.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tree just wanted a drink

Looks like the poster for a pretentious-but-loved TV show that gets cancelled after the first season.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Aw heck. Tree tipped.

Maybe the Netherlands folded upwards?

Sometimes 90% of a great photograph is seeing it in the first place.

4 years ago | Likes 338 Dislikes 2

where is 90% of the roots that holds the trees?

“The single most important component of a camera is the 12 inches behind it.” - Ansel Adams

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The culprit i in the picture. Yes. The duck did it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nope, tree is drunk

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’d say 90% of a great photograph is having a camera.

4 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 2

I'd say 51%

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I took a photography course, my professor said "the best camera in the world is always the one you happen to have on you on the moment"

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm interested in the photo that didn't use a camera

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Or a drone

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

It has to have a camera though

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Depends on whether or not the drone you have is also a camera.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

what drone doesn't?

Tell me it’s Holland without telling me it’s holland.

4 years ago | Likes 111 Dislikes 1

I was looking real hard for Tom holland but I couldn’t find him.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I lived in Rijswijk on a canal for a few years, except for the hedge and the paved road (ours was herringbone brick), this is exact.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Actually this could be the UK too.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wouldn’t the biker have been on the other side of the road?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's a bike lane next to a canal.

4 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

That looks like a regular road with a biker on it

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It is, also this sight could just as easily be found in Germany or Denmark, it's the brick sidewalk that says Netherlands.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In the Netherland, regular roads are bike lanes unless stated otherwise !

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No used as bike lanes

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is there a fence...? No!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's on either side of the trunk near the bottom?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the right is a shopping bag, I have no idea what's on the left

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does holland have the Canadian Geese like the one above the teee?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We have them in Sweden as well

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, you can see their spread here: https://stats.sovon.nl/stats/soort/1661 I have never seen them being agressive though.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, they where introduced here and now they live here permenantly.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oof, when are they open for hunting? They should be tasty at least

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not for hunting cause they're considered an invasive species. So the term is culling. Which is open depending on the province's discretion.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I get knocked down. But I get up again.

It's similar to someone saying "somebody has a case of the Mondays".

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Sounds like someone has a case of the mondays

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's Tuesday!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hate to tell you this, but you’ve been in a coma for the last 17 years.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But it’s only been 28 days later.
