Back in June I hurt my neck and consequently found out I have a small mass in my brain. ER doc said it was most likely calcified, nothing to worry about. Still a little worried. Fast forward to last Friday. I get a MRI "just to be safe", find out that, no it isn't calcified and, oh look, it might be a WHO class II tumor.

There are a few differential diagnoses, been obsessively and unwisely googling for a few days now.

Reading about the different surgeries that might be required. Not taking it well.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever YouTube a surgery you might have to get.

Anyway, I've got an appointment with a neurologist and a neurosurgeon coming up. Still unclear whether they'll go ahead and try to take it out now or wait six months for an additional MRI to measure the growth rate. I guess I don't really know what I'm feeling right now. I never expected anything like this. At this point I just shut down my computer and am about to binge on some Doctor Who with my dog. I don't know if I'm ready to tell my friends and family yet cause I don't want to scare them, so I decided to vent to the internet instead. Thanks for reading. Dog tax included. Inb4 "what's her name?" That's Lily Luna and she's the cutest dog in the entire world. Edit: Thanks for all the support you guys! Everyone who says it's not bad luck that it got caught is completely right. I actually know that I'm extremely lucky, it just doesn't totally feel like it yet. I'll keep you all updated when I know anything. Send cute animal pictures!

Soo if the surgery doesn't go well can I have your dog? Lmao totally kidding I wish you the absolute best

I have watched neuro surgeons removing a brain tumor. They are super skilled and super precise

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

A tumor can be many things that are not cancer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gets a CT Scan for cough - has a tumor on right lung. Maybe CT Scans are causing them @OP !

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

This is definitely a possibility

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Neurosurgeons remove tumors pretty much every day. They know what they're doing. Try 2 believe in their skills. But you sir shouldn't Google

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Serendipitous discovery. Sprained neck will save your life. Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Stay positive, may not be bad at all

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Our brains give us ALL the trouble, but they're remarkably resilient. I know it's scary right now, but you're gonna be okay.

I wish someone would do this to me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This gave me a warm feeling

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Stay positive and be aggressive in treating. You can do this.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone grows a cancer cell at average 6 times a day and the immune system fights it off. Just believe it's one of those cases

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best of luck! You will fight this and win!

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

Fight and win! Fight and win! Fight and win! Everybody!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't say that you're a bad luck Brian. It's probably a really good thing that they found the mass sooner than later!

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

This is very true. Haha just how it feels at the moment I guess.

When doctor tells you there is a small mass in your head and your like "I get it doctor, I am not a smrt"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No dude, this is great news. Because of the CT scan for your neck sprain they caught this super early and will be able to treat it!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I checked your symptoms on Web MD and now I'm sure I have cancer

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yep that's how it usually goes

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fucking hell! As someone who had brain surgery I am even more terrified of recurrence having seen that YouTube screenshot

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But stay strong bro. If ya need someone to talk to I gotcha

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry! But hey, you made it through once. And here I am hyperventilating at a video.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Small tumor caught early not growing fast you'll prolly be ok. Good luck.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You're gonna be ok pumpkin

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I had a total thyroidectomy and googled how the procedure is done. Oh no.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did the same for my retinal detachment, they were so violent with the eye. I freaked out during surgery, and I had a panic attack. Blah!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the worst thing about the internet. Listen to the pros, they'll take care of you and they do know what they're doing. Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It kinda looks like there's a jalapeƱo on that skull

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That would be a serious problem on its own

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Though it is a tumor, it doesn't mean it is cancer. Cancer is a type of tumor, which invades and spreads. The "-oma" usually means benign.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not quite true. Carcinoma, sarcoma, all bad cancers end in -oma. Just means "mass". Benign ones too, adenomas or in this case incidentaloma.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Let me rephrase most benign only end in -oma, such as lipoma but if it has the tissue specifier such as carcinoma or sarcoma it means cancer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Carincoma and sarcoma don't specify which tissue it's coming from (lung, kidneys, heart, skin). Lipoma does though (fat cells).

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It specifies if it is epithelial or mesenchymal though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you'll get the same stuff with benign ones too. Leiomyoma, adenoma, fibroma, teratoma.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bruh i thought i had a bloodclot turns out huge cyst from ingrown hairs GP said it needs surgery youtube the surgery NOOOOPE

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why are you people youtubeing surgeries? That's like youtubeing how the stomach digests food!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man... I grown hairs are the fucking worst though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you initiate this first MRI? What made you do it after so many months since June?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was a problem with my insurance, so I had to wait until they worked that out. Also scheduling it was a nightmare for some reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah ok yeah those can be a true nightmare to get authorized and scheduled. Sucks. Hope your appointment(s) give you good outcomes!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even without a diagnosis, checking WebMD leads you to believe you have cancer.

8 years ago | Likes 576 Dislikes 2

Really? I typed it in and said pregnant.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think I have cancer, I just coughed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stubbed my toe once, turns out it was prostate cancer

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As opposed to the YouTube comment section, which actually gives you cancer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WebMD always seems to think I'm suffering from withdrawal. Heroin being my drug of choice usually.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I checked online and it said I have Network Connectivity Problems

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a funny joke about that in the new movie with that guy from Silicon Valley, whats his name

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Checking WebMD ENSURES you get cancer even if you didn't in the first place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WebMD is cancer so technically they're correct

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WebMD only points at cancer because otherwise they would have to say Lupus, and we all know it's not Lupus.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Oh you sneezed? Must be cancer.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Sneeze cancer. Snancer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last time I looked at WebMD I died.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or are having a misscarriage.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Is everything a symptom of cancer!?"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sniffles? Cancer. Leg pain? Cancer. Headache? Cancer. Tired when you wake up? Cancer. Out of breath when exercising? Cancer. Cancer? Lupus.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's never lupus

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except for that one time it was lupus.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WebMD is cancer

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah stop googling and make the best out of the days you are left with. Sob sob

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha yes. I actually intentionally avoided webMD and opted for more specialized sites and research papers. Didn't help much to be honest.

8 years ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 0

Yeahhh medical research papers don't sugarcoat and pile on the descriptive details.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ahhh, the joys of medical research.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Another common brain malformation is a cavernous angioma, or cavernoma. Almost always harmless. There's a lot of things that aren't cancer

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Not to make OP freak out but my best friend did that we called her dramatic she had stage 4 lymphoma, she's 5 years in remission 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 and she has been doing well and has scans every 6 months. We were 23 when she got her diagnosis

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah one time I put in my symptoms and it said I had liver cancer. Stupid website. I actually had leukemia.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

**fucking lols**

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My Doctor actually got pissed when I mentioned I checked something online for exactly this reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mind I live in Canada, so the visit itself doesn't cost money, so by all rights I should have just gone in to see her if worried.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would argue that my dog is cuter than yours, but I wish you the best of luck. Stop looking at Google, it won't make anything better.

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

I mean if you want to have this fight, I've got a massive picture arsenal. Haha but thanks. I'm trying to stop.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Ohhh lemme see if i can get some pictures goin. im newb as fuck and dont know if this will work or not

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Haha well your dog is pretty damn cute. But I mean come on. This face!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Damn I dont take enough pictures of my dog, but I'll offer one more where shes being really pathetic

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Mom stop playing Civ. Play with meeeeee"

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I will admit that dog is damn cute though, how old is she?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

She's four! Haha still has the energy of a puppy though

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Sorry, but mine is cuter...(yes, I'm biased)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Very cute! But I still have to disagree

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Is that a mini beagle? Its pretty cute, but it's no Pepper

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Her mom was a Black and Tan coonhound, father unknown, but some small...she's 33 pounds

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Coonhounds are the best dogs. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

She's not a shepherd like it says

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I assume the kennel cough was taken care of? Right?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, she's super healthy. It was something she picked up at the shelter

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is one cute puppy

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Prob should just amputate your head

8 years ago | Likes 219 Dislikes 7

oo how much is that? i want that

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"If you want to lose ten pounds of ugly fat, I'd be happy to lop off your head."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't do that. Amputate your body.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Now that's smart thinkin'.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm considering it.

8 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 1

At that point you might as well overdose. Or get a cyborg body.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

My vote goes to cyborg body. Sounds like an upgrade to me.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't forget the laser beams. And turbo boost

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think its your safest option. (good luck btw kels <3 )

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just remove the brain. Then you can have a career in marketing.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

Brutal. I like it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'll be honest, I think 'craniotomy' kinda sounds like exactly that. Sorry bro.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Headectomy?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imgur can keep your head alive in our jar of dank memes.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can I keep it?

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Don't know why you'd want to. I don't think I'd look good in a jar.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

He wants to have it mounted on the wall above his fireplace.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He wants it for your mouth.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

There are... other uses for a head I can think of...
