True. All cultures came from earlier cultures, they change and (if all goes well) evolve. That said, I'm for preserving aspects of cultures that are significant or of some value, like a unique foodstuff or style or art. Though eventually it's all destined to die out as the practitioners and masters pass away and people lose interest or forget the methods and tools etc.

He was not a historian, but was a trained bilingual journalist stationed in Berlin in the years leading up to the way, covered the East trials after the war, and due to his connections, was given access to nearly all the extensive record of both the Allies and the German governments as well as the Nazis.
He spent 10-15 years years researching-the book was published in 1960, I believe.
