And once again thanks to some random facts post on imgur I get my daily sense of enlightenment.

13 years ago | Likes 487 Dislikes 4

The residue has always been the reason why I didn't enjoy eating Doritos..

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Me too.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can see why you didn't put the bacon one first. As soon as I got to it, I left to make myself some bacon.

13 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 3

I looked that one up. They can grow meat cells. It's not bacon. Yet.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One day 3D printers will be able to create bacon. And pigs everywhere will rejoice.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Note to self: invest in 3D printing technology.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

YOU CAN GROW BACON???!?!?!?!

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Said a guy looked like Steve McQueen the other day. My friends didn't know who Steve McQueen was. I wept.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As an Ohioan, I am ashamed. :(

13 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

As a Cincinnatian.... makes sense to me it was here...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am too. But not surprised.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

While visiting Ohio I had to prove a point to my mother and drove through several stop lights...nobody seemed to care.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The fact the cars in the pic are 20yrs out of date make me doubt this 'fact'.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As you should be. Then came this post. Just when you think youve hit rock bottom...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn NBA playoffs; I read the last slide as President Lebron James.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Now THIS is how you do a "bunch of facts" post. Nicely done, OP.

13 years ago | Likes 1944 Dislikes 3

Still... they all seem not true...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Adding pictures to a backlog of what appears to be several months of /r/TIL? I've seen nearly ALL of these there.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Congratulations, you browse Reddit. Not everybody else on Imgur does, though.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The citations were a very nice touch

13 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

They should be mandatory as opposed to extra flair.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, the tickets are true. I got a free pizza from a local pizza place because I was wearing my helmet on my bike as a kid.

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Ah yes. They do this in the states too. I got a free Slurpree under the same circumstances back in the 90s

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For some reason I thought that octopus was smoking a cigarette for, like, ten whole seconds.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tired of your shit LBJ...

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I would be so effing annoyed if the police wasted my time by pulling me over to give me a "positive ticket."

13 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 6

@Christychik said "They give them to kids, to reward them for doing good things and so cops don't seem like bad guys to them."

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh gosh, I'm sorry, eh

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 11

I'll excuse you but only because you apologized.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the same thing. "You wasted my time to tell me I did something right? No shit." Ah, America.

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I'm also American! Also, I know, right?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Positive ticket is also an excuse to pull the car over without a good reason

13 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 4

Canadian cop pulls you over. Says sorry multiple times.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They give them to kids, to reward them for doing good things and so cops don't seem like bad guys to them

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

+1 for Steve McQueen

13 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

that must've been a big ol' pringles can...

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

TIL Katherine McPhee is our treasurer

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's the most Canadian thing I've ever read.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

doritos without the "Doritos Experience"?! Preposterous

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That pringles can thing freaks me out.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

+1 just for McQueen

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn! A Farley-voiced Shrek would've rocked.

13 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 6

The Farley fact mad eme so sadhttp://www.hentairulesfiles.net/_2013/lie_down_try_not_to_cry_cry_a_lot_cleaned_525.jpg

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I loved Mike Myers, but I would love to at least hear the lines Farley recorded. They should totally release them.

13 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

We need to get our hands on those lines!!!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would LOVE that to be bonus material on the DVD

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Farly only does one character, as best evidenced by nyc in all caps. Plus Mike's over the top accent made Shrek seem more like an outcast.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Most of the time you're so used to the voice you originally heard. But this time I still would have preferred a Farley voice.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'M A 35 YEAR OLD OGRE AND I LIVE IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER.

13 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

I read that in his voice and it made me teary...thanks for the feels.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Fact: First one is not proven. The first commercially available gas-powered car was in 1896. Your source is a user-submitted wiki page.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

TIL.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha this whole time the only reason I couldn't enjoy doritos was because dorito fingers are annoying and gross, I hate them so much now.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah Canada. I want to go there for the niceness

13 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 4

Then you should wait until after hockey season.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately that's just a stereotype. You'll find polite people everywhere.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah no.. As a Canadian, Canada is failing more and more these days

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Especially in Quebec. Then again this tar sands fiasco and the destruction of the protection our waterways had is quite awful, too.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, I apologize.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Stay away from Quebec, though.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I knew a guy who played LotRO who was from Quebec. People on our server who spoke French couldn't understand a word of his "French"...

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are crushing the language too. They are reversing almost every words. (example = ample-ex)

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, that is a dialect thing, which is true, yeah lol. But English is suppressed here and it is not fun to live here as an English-speaker.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

whaaat? why? I thought that bitching place was bilingual!

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It's all about preserving their french "culture".

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 for sources

13 years ago | Likes 1921 Dislikes 7

How do comments like this get to the top?

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Actually, I didn't find anything about Nike paying Jordan's fines. Only that "Nike used this as a promotional tool in advertisements".

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Except most of the sources are Wikipedia, which can be changed to say anything you want it to say, sooooo...

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it is about +3000 for sources, at least at the moment when I saw this post!

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw one was Ca/facts and my immediate reaction was CAT FACTS! I think I've been imguring too long

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Question though: when I went through school Wikipedia was not a valid source. Is Wiki now deemed reliable?

13 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

no, any time wikipedia is the source i immediately think the fack is false, due to users able to change the facts

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

This will depend on a. how much of a reactionary Luddite your teacher is and b. whether the Wikipedia article itself has solid sources.

13 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 6

No.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really, if the wikipedia article has sources? Use those. I can't access any physical libraries, so that has saved my ass on many papers.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be honest, while it isn't a reputable source, by now, the articles have been edited so much that the actual facts (generally) remain.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well when Wikipedia started it could be edited by ANYONE. Now the sources have been reviewed so many times, they're pretty damn reliable.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always went to wiki and then via that got the sources for the wiki article and cited those in my reports.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh the times... When I went to scholl the internet was only available to the military...

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh the times... When I went to school the internet wasn't.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have college professors who are totally against wiki.. and others that encourage it. It's all opinion.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most Wiki articles cite from credible sources nowadays, but they are still deemed unacceptable for school papers. Meh.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ffs, how many times must it be said? You don't source wiki, you source the main source linked in the wiki article all at the bottom.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

IMHO Wikipedia is fine for Imgur* but not for formal stuff. For that, look at the Wiki article's sources for more detailed, reliable info. +

13 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

+1 for use of "+", just cause I thought it was neat.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. Wikipedia is fine for finding sources, rather than as a source.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

- * As well as simply being less important, if a flawed Wiki article is mentioned on Imgur, someone here might know better and flag it up.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So a woman keeps the checkbook up to date for the United States. Sounds like my house

13 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 3

Does this explain why we're massively in debt?

13 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 5

About 50% of the defense budget is actually spent on shoes. Only the rest of that actually goes to the military.

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

So....Andrews Air Force base isn't actually an air force base, it's actually a giant shoe closet? Son of a....

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Anyone else suddenly pissed at doritos?

13 years ago | Likes 637 Dislikes 14

ya, fix them fucin cheez hands

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. My good friend from HS is a Frito-Lay exec. I will bitch to him about this.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yep

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

yes, very

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The powder is why I can't enjoy them at work!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm actually more pissed about Chris Farley...

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My solution is to crush them in the bag, and then just pour them into my face.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hahahahaha "into" my face

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd be pissed if they took off the powder. They say it's part of the experience and they're damn right. You don't deserve doritos you monster

13 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

yea I mean, sitting naked in my computer chair loses all it's charm when I'm not covered in orange dust

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I could be eating Doritos at work right now, without getting powder on my fancy work time clothes. Instead I'm eating plain tortilla chips..

13 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 1

Better than my rice cakes... :(

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

bring a little dip to work in tupperware or a little mason jar! no dust and more taste.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Where's the duck?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking marketing. Cheetos is the same story. Could be more convenient but the mess is "iconic".

13 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Yes, actually. I would probably eat them more were it not for that fact.

13 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 4

Chopsticks. Useful devices they be.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Genius. I'll legit try that.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

They should make a powderless version!

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd buy it.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Same, that's almost entirely why I rarely eat Doritos or Cheetos.

13 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It's exactly why I don't eat Cheetos. I like the taste, but it just gets EVERYWHERE.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Ditto.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm not convinced they would taste the same without the powder, the powder tastes of the Doritos if you eat them on their own.

13 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I think the idea is that the 'powder' doesn't have to be loose. It flavours the chip now, yes, but could be left within the chip itself.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Maybe the powder is made from ground Doritos. So you're really eating Dorito flavored Doritos? Did I just incept my snack?

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Looks a different colour, especially with Chilli Heatwave Doritos. #DoritosScience

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only one solution... We demand a powderless dorito bag from them for science.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or, take doritos, wash them, let them dry, taste them afterwards.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you're here, who's running hell?

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
