Downvoting is heresy and out of the emperors light!!
causality
I enjoy 40K lore but the sheer stagnation and hopelessness of the entire galaxy keeps me from being interested in an ongoing basis.

Read #2 as the Hershey train. I was almost disappointed the rest of this had nothing to do with chocolate but that would be heresy! Sooo +1.
DalekKal
Its actually the madness train and symbolic for something horrible. Its from Alice Madness Returns.

Nurgle's a sweetheart. The worst sweetheart, but still. He tries, and normally that counts for something. But not in his case.

I love how it says 'trained'. Somehow a lot funnier than 'programmed'.

+1 space wolves!
Rheios
The "outnumbered 10:1" one is kindof amusing, because Tyranids care how many of them you kill even less than the Imperial Guard.
VinnieJonesDiary
Yeah but those are deamons, not Tyranids.
Rheios
So they are. Huh. There's a picture almost exactly like that one in one of the old Tyranid handbooks.
stillwatrpwnage
If one was looking to get into/understand 40k, where would one start?
CrowDeMorcerf
I can give you a small background (Or a very complete one) in pretty much every faction and race. But what exactly do you want to know?
stillwatrpwnage
Not exactly sure, that's the problem. I wanna know the things, but I don't know what I wanna know, ya feel me?
Nykidemus
Get a demo of warmachine instead. It's got way better rules, and the company that makes it are not assholes.
BuckeyeBTH
I can assist, depends what you want to get into, the tabletop game, the lore, or just the universe, because you have different start points
stillwatrpwnage
Lore or universe, mainly. Interested in watching/playing games but would like background/context.
BuckeyeBTH
Cool. Sent you a PM, use those links, the wiki (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page) has way more information than my message.

mioelnir
Ah, the heavy scout gif. Was waiting for it.
srsfaceI8C
Scout? What? That's a devastator, my friend.
mioelnir
Color scheme + X on the shoulder => Ultramarines 10th company. _Scout_ company.
SamPedro
I play Flesh Tears (so I don't know stupid codex heraldry that well) but I'm pretty sure the company is denoted by the shoulder pad trim
SamPedro
And gold trim I believe is first company.
srsfaceI8C
10th isn't company there, it's squad marking. In any battle company, 1-6 = Tactical, 7-8 = Assault, 9-10 = Devastator. (1/2)
srsfaceI8C
Scouts don't wear power armor. That's for fully fledged astartes only. Yes I'm a nerd. (2/2)
mioelnir
Yes, but as an actual devastator, either attached to 2-5th or the 9th company, he would have the tactical devastator marking /\ and not...
IsoPropylPotatene
I almost didn't comment. Then I have relevancy. I however can think of nothing clever. I don't even play chaos.
DalekKal
You want some heresy? The second image isnt even 40k.
CrazyCatLad
Jus' star'talkin like dis to da hummies and da updoots will flow. WAAAAAAAGH!
UngratefulNoob
Honestly I army hopped. Started with Tau, then Space Marines, then hopped on the OP bandwagon and played Grey Knights.
IAmTheBadW01f
I miss my grey knight/ imperial guard combo army. Grey knight marines+IG tanks, so much fun....
TheOneAndOnlyTraceFace
Is your name Brandon?
parabolic000
So what you're saying is that you're a billionaire.
HessianGhost
Not after playing 3 separate armies he isn't
srsfaceI8C
Wait what? Grey Knights are mediocre at best right now. Tau are top tier.
UngratefulNoob
This was a couple codex editions back. I stopped playing after prices skyrocketed where I live.
srsfaceI8C
Fair enough. Australia? It's crazy pricey there compared to anywhere else.
UngratefulNoob
Canada actually. Prices went up for less quantity about a year ago and I just couldn't be bothered to spend the money anymore.
AreThoseMyPants
Grey Knights were told being OP to me soon after I quit playing - within a year from Tau launch. Not sure the exact year.
srsfaceI8C
Times have changed. If your army relies on assaults to win, it's kind of bad. Eldar, Tau and Necron are kings of the hill by a mile now.
AreThoseMyPants
Necron were OP when I was playing as well. Tau launched around the level they were expected to, but lacked unit options. After that idk.
