In their two years as a group, they recorded four LPs and classic songs like Sunshine of Your Love, Strange Brew, Crossroads, and White Room.

Regarded as the world’s first successful supergroup, their third album, Wheels of Fire (1968), was the first platinum-selling double album in history.

That year, Clapton wanted to end the band, which was having personnel disputes, to pursue a different musical direction. He formed Blind Faith with Stevie Winwood in the aftermath of the break up.

Watch the documentary "Beware of Mr. Baker". Explains why they broke up. He was a little crazy.

Baker was an absolute lunatic who was nearly impossible to work with

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Reading his bio now, Brilliant. I don’t want it to end.

I love White Room and Born Under a Bad Sign

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it just me or does Eric Clapton look completely different than he did when he was younger? I can't connect the two people.

At one their first gigs Chas Chandler walked in with an unknown American guitar player called Jimi Hendrix who asked if he could jam.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck Clapton

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

2 out of 3 are gone.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Clapton is an icon, not a virtuoso. Petrucci, Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani. Those are virtuosos.

For some reason, I always hear "cream" in my head in Hugo Weaving's(Agent Smith/Matrix) voice. This time too. Think: "what LP are you -->

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

going to play? "." The Cream(in Hugos's voice)".

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He did just collaborate on an antimask/anti lockdown song but I guess rockstars always go a bit off the deep end.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then Jimi Hendrix came out and they became irrelevant.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Later, rapper Robert Van Winkle would join and the group would be renamed Ice Cream

4 years ago | Likes 230 Dislikes 5

That was shortly after they recruited singer Brad Delp and toured briefly as Boston Cream...

I think you mean real estate mogul Robert Van Winkle; he was never considered a rapper.

Disraeli Gears was probably the first album I ever got to know really well. The cover was almost as good as the music.

Andy Warhol on acid.

Derailleur Gears, surely? :D

+1 for the reference people dont understand.

Ginger ran off with his daughters best pal week later wife evicted from his house because of non payment of taxes nice guy

Have you seen the "beware of Mr baker" documentary? Well worth your time.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Dude was hard to be around to say the least

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In an alternate universe Clapton won the coin toss and SRV is still making music.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And nothing of worth has come out of Clapton since. Anti vax, anti immigrant Clapton has ruined his music to me with his hatred.

It was worth scrolling down the Google results to find one that didn't come with an advert on the front.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First LP I ever bought, Best of Cream (1969), played it endlessly. ?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

White Room is still a fucking belter of a song. Ditto Sunshine.

4 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 0

Only lyrics I know is "in the white room, with black curtains....", the rest to me is almost gibberish

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Loved both of those and Ulysses was one of my favorites.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I ruined White Room for a friend by adding “with gas pumps” after the line “near the station”. He’s hated me for it since…understandably…

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tales of Brave Ulysses is a wicked one too, in my books.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I actually don’t know that one. I’m a Spotify fan of music which often means I like what I am fed but I don’t forage too frequently.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Listen to Fresh Cream and Disreali Gears top to bottom when you get a chance

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you heard Apocalyptica's cover with Jacoby Shaddix?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No dude. I’ll check it though. What makes it special?

Ginger Baker was one hell of an asshole.

Ginger Baker was an awesome drummer, and lived quite a life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginger_Baker?wprov=sfti1

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

v going to watch this soon. Didn’t know about it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Baker and Bruce both played with Tony Williams. In turn TW was in miles Davis second great quintet. I like to play connect the players

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Baker also played on Album by Public Image Ltd with John Lydon, Steve Vai, Bill Laswell and others

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shame Eric Clapton is such a massive tool because he's a hell of a guitarist.

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Baker was the massive tool

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ginger was overt about it, Clapton has slightly more social awareness and is just more covert. I wouldn’t want to spend any time with either

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't want to spend any significant time close to Ginger Baker's presumably Rotting corpse either.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only slightly preferable to live Clapton.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eric Clapton supported the countryside alliance (pro fox hunting), dabbled in a bit of domestic violence, loves Enoch Powell, hates

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

immigrants, is anti lockdown and an antimasker. The stuff he said about immigrants is seriously awful.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Also anti vax, or at least anti covid vax

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the person who made a career off of black music but despised them

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I met Ginger Baker in the late 70's and it was obvious he was crazy. I don't mean flamboyantly outrageous, I mean dangerously psychotic

4 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

His entire life reads like a list of every possible trauma: his is a tragic story, not just another crazy entitled “hellraiser” rockstar

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Story Time?!

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

To be fair he'd just been kicked out of Nigeria losing everything and reduced to dealing cocaine and touring with short lived 'Energy' 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

2/2 They played a friends small club. Ginger ignored most people, was obnoxious to the rest and always looked like he wanted to stab someone

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Thank you for the update.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He was a wicked good drummer.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Clapton played with Jimmy Page in The Yardbirds briefly. Page went on to form his own supergroup, Yardbirds 2, better known as Led Zeppelin

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't think they were ever together. Jeff Beck replaced Clapton, then Page replaced Beck

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fair point but the did session together during that time.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually Beck replaced Clapton. Page joined later and played with Beck, which is a hell of a duo for one band. Here's a clip from the

famous psychological thriller movie "Blow-Up" showing them both playing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zeza1xeWKM

What’s the difference between a bag of cocaine and a baby…

Clapton's a horrible person, but the kid thing was nothing he could've prevented.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He didn't have to cash in with a horrible horrible song about it. He made money with that baby's death.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Ok ya but the song ain't horrible. It's pure cry fuel

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What does ginger baker have in common with coffee?

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

They both suck without cream.

4 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 3

Ginger Baker's "Why?" is an absolutely amazing album.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ginger was an enormous asshole but an incredibly talented drummer.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Speaking as a professional drummer…. Meh, he was good and blazed the way, but a bit overrated in my book. IMHO

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Too bad Clapton is a racist asshole.

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 28

Well, Cancel Culture dictates you can no support anything else he's ever done in his life.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 14

Wait until you hear about ginger baker.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Really? How? I’ve never heard that before. Serious question.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He also supported fox hunting and the countryside alliance in the UK. Not cool.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

After reading his autobiography, my main takeaway: Eric Clapton is a prick.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Did the song Layla not tip you off?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What's that got to do with his talent as a musician?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

That was the point of my reading, to hear all about his musicianship. He focused more on his relationships and drug abuse, blaming himself.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I felt the same after reading it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It pretty much make you go from "poor bastard" to "what a fucking bastard". But all in all, not racist. Misogynist prick maybe. Not racist.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

He was at times when heavily inebriated. He said himself that he was on his worst behaviour when drunk. Read his autobiography. Hendrix 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Was one of his best mates and it fucked him (Clapton) up when he died. He also played with countless of black musicians and has always 2/?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Been humble about it. Moreover he has worshipped Robert Johnson all his life. Clapton has been a prick A LOT of times. But I'd never 3/4

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Consider him to be a "racist" prick. 4/4
