If Christianity was a 2000-year campaign of Mr. Rogers' loving guidance, it would be a very beautiful day in the neighborhood.
He was a children's TV show host who focused on helping kids understand and cope with their feelings on everyday issues. Everything from--
--disabilities to divorce to prejudice to assassination (JFK). He was among the kindest, most genuine people to ever exist. Not hyperbole.
The best I can think of, if you're of the right age, is the Jim Knopf puppet show. That, but instead of an adventure, it was someone ---
who would talk to you like you're an equal, who'd explain everything he did because little kids don't understand social cues implicitly ---
and who had guests and skits and puppet tigers and owls and kings and who made it his goal to ensure you knew that, even if he would never -
