DC's allow me to test out GP, WSUS, AD, etc services at home without breaking things at work. Plus its useful sometimes for ease of use.

Nice! How much did you pay for the rack?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I paid 5$ (scrap price) for it at my university. It is technically a media cabinet, but the 19" rackmount equipment fits.

Replace “the” with “that” or “your” and you’ve got yourself a question you should never say to a woman.

For what? I've asked this every time I see a post like this and nobody so far has given me an actual good answer as to why

In the comment I list out what all the hardware does, but mostly it is a test bed for work and my plex server

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What do you use it for?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Apple air play

I use it mostly for Plex. However, I do systems engineering and administration for work, so I use the hardware for testing things out ahead.

How do you keep it cool. And /or what's the temp of that room?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good question, it is usually 80F or so during the day in the summer (2nd floor office) I will open the windows when its too hot.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn’t heat up too much? That’s my worry with my server

Nice setup. Running pfsense as well and it's a beautiful thing

Love pfSense. have been using it for years in various forms. Gives me al the control and peace of mind I could ever want.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

where can you see that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Takes years of practice to be able to spot the type of firewall someone is using when it's listed right near the bottom of the post
